Great video, very helpful. All Vizio TV's have power buttons on the back. I looked and looked... and once I found it I couldn't believe I had missed finding the power button on back (after multiple searches over the years). Ty for mentioning need for same wifi!

I figured it out guys. My app was saying it couldn’t find any devices so what I did was uninstalled my app. Waited for 5 seconds, reinstalled, open app and it should give you a few pop ups, say yes (except the one that says if it’s ok for apple to track what you do with the app) then say yes to link, you should see your tv listed in the top, press the plus button like he did and follow the rest he did.

I can’t find the app for the iPhone 14, “VIZIO SmartCast Mobile” is what I was told to look for. I want the free one, we turned off the power to house and when we turned back on the tv is saying we have no internet connection, I did get something to recognize the tv was there but won’t pair or respond to the hand held remote except to turn on

I paired my phone with the tv just fine, and I can even open apps, but I cannot use the arrow cursors, the “OK” button, or the home button. The TV does not respond when I touch them on my phone. Could you please advise?

How do you put the tv and phone on the same wifi without the remote? I brought a display model with no remote
You have to go to the SmartCast app and go to pair a device and then select TV and then look for add a new device at the bottom and then go to wifi settings on the phone….the tv is broadcasting a Wifi ssid which is similar to its name like VizioDispalyXXXX…..join this wifi on your phone….it doesn’t show up right away and make sure your phone is close to the right bottom corner of the Vizio tv….once you have joined the TVs direct wifi come back to the SmartCast app…..it will start searching for compatible devices and then in a few secs will say device found and will ask for a pin….that pin should be displayed on the screen of the tv in the top center of the screen….once you enter the pin the app will now show up the list of available Wi-Fi’s….this time select to your home wifi and enter the password for your wifi router….then tv should start up now and should do a firmware upgrade and also SmartCast OS update….hope this helps coz I was pretty frustrated that I needed a old dumb remote for a smart tv but I found this method to make it work

I need a way to cast my phone to setup the TV
Turn the cast option ON on your phone. Turn OFF wifi. Turn Mobile Hotspot to On in your phones drop down menu. Your phone will automatically pair with the TV or the phone will ask you to enter a 4 digit code that appears on your TV. This code is specific to your own smart TV. Once you enter the code the TV will sync to your phone and you can then use the cast technology to send programs from your phone to your larger TV. Hope this helps.

@@colecovington9804 I got it working now but funny thing is I had the TV for a little whole now and had a hard time finding the buttons. I bought a new remote and after that I found the buttons. That frustrated me and I also felt like a derp for that. *cries and laugh at the same time* I got struggles here.

There should be an off button on the back of the tv. Mine is on the bottom left of the tv when facing it

Vizio sucks! How do they not have an app store where you can download right from the TV?
I would make sure that the code stays hidden, that way if someone wants to use my cellphone to turn the TV off or on she/he won't be able to turn the device on.I would not even give them the code no matter what.

If your using your Hotspot than you don't need this app. This app is for people whom have wifi in their house and don't want to use Hotspot. Hotspot will sync your phone to your TV just fine as long as your TV is Smart TV compatible and your phone has casting ability which 99% of today's phones already have built in. Hope this helps.
