As a Gujarati , I wanna put spotlight on the "less popular" snacks - which is damn popular with natives but not so much with non-natives, 1. Fulvadi 2. Bhakharvadi 3. Vaati dal na Khaman 4. Handvo 5. Sukhdi - Its a sweet but not a dessert - Akin to a biscuit (in the way it is consumed) - Thepla and Sukhdi is what you carry as a typical gujju traveller Some other commonplace knowledge that people miss : 1. You can make khakhra at home - the simple khakhra is a roti that you roast again once it has cooled down to make it completely flat and crisp. The rest khakhras are all seasoned and generally something that you get from shop. A khakhra in a home is the roti roasted again 2. What non gujaratis end up calling as "Dhokla" is actually a khaman which primarily has two varieties _ the sweeter one - which they had in this video - commonly known as nylon khaman - The non sweet version made also from other dal and not besan called Vaati daal na khaman. Dhokla on the other hand is a completely different dish 3. Simple thepla has no methi . Simple thepla is harder to find in shops they generally have the methi thepla. However at a typical gujarati home there are 3 kinds - 1. Plain thepla 2 Methi Thepla 3. Dudhi thepla ( Lauki/Bottlegaurd thepla)
Vaibhav's excitement is on another level. Throughout the video he's expressions like a happy kid in a candy store specially when he tried the nadiyadi bhusa. Had fun watching this video. Waiting for part 2 of Gujarati snacks and other states too because we will also get to learn about so many new snacks from your videos.
I’m not a Gujju but am a fan of Undhiyo, Khichu, Umbaliyu, Khandvi, Handvo, Methi muthiya, Ponk Bhel, Sukdi, Amiri Khaman, rotla, bhakri, ghugra, panki, idada, locho, Kutchhi dabeli,…. And it’s all available in Mumbai. You must do a part 2 & 3… I’m drooling now!!
That is not dhokla guys🙈 that is khaman, which is why its also a little sweet, you can try from Thepla House By Tejal's Kitchen in mumbai(i think its in parel)
The one that you’ll ate is khaman not dhokla. Dhokla is white in colour. They’re two different dishes. It can be confusing for most 😋 Loved this episode ❤
I knew it, the food had to be from Trupati and Ramanlal Vithal!! They do the best gujju snacks in Mumbai. Damodar is also another place to look out for. Jalebi and Fafda( with the Kadhi which you get only on Sunday) from Trupati on Sunday morning has been a staple at my place for years now. Apart from the gujju speciality you should have also tried their Dahi Vada.
Fafda gathiya is the thing that people eat hot from the kadhai with raw papaya kachumber and fried green chilli with hot tea and can add potato fries. That's how people eat fafda gathiya and there is another variety of fafda gathiya called vanela gathiya( rolled gathiya)
There are two types of Poha…. Nylon Poha is especially used for chivda and the regular poha for Maharashtrian poha, Indore poha. Regular poha is also used as a binding agent in cutlets. @Coupling!
Loved this episode, being a gujrati I really enjoyed, just a tip try Haribhai Kandoi for gujrati farsan and sweets, it's an institution, trust me you guys will love it. And also wanted to thank you, I discovered Araku cafe coz of u guys, loved it.😊
Ok the yellow thing is actually khaman dhokla, dhokla is the white version which is my personal favourite 😅 I am sooooo tired of everyone calling khaman just dhokla 😢 bcoz dhokla is completely different 😢
Wonderful initiative. Just a tiny suggestion, please explain these snacks a little, let’s say is it spicy or sour or sweet - what are the ingredients if u can figure that out. It will be awesome. 😊❤✨ Wishing you guys the best!
Amazing content SS and VT. Love your ideas and execution ♥️ lots of admiration and respect ⭐️ Also please try the snacks with the beverage that gujjus do it with, mostly everything is like paired with chai, fafda, Bhavnagri Gathiya, papdi, thepla, khakhara, etc 7:42 - it’s khaman, not dhokla.. dhokla is white and made with fermented dal, and then steamed. Also do try - Ponkh (winter special - extremely healthy) Khichu, locha, Khandvi, Umbadiyu, Sev Mamra, Khavsa, Bhungda bateta.
The chivada was made up of poha. And bhusa is farsan I think. Also, since sherry loves her chai try eating gaathiya with chai, like how we eat cereal. You might like it.
Gathiya again has a few varieties. This is bhavnagri gathiya (which has some khasta) then there is tikha gathiya which has red chilli powder and spices
I'm gujarati and we survive on thepla and churma laddu while traveling. Fafda is yes different shape and size like sev because it made of besan, nylon chiwda is thin poha chiwda and that is not Dhokla only it is called khaman dhokla and there is different dhokla that made in gujarati house holds is KHATIYA DHOKLA and it served with peanut oil and garlic chutney there are so many snacks dudhi muthiya dhokla vanela gathiya etc. make part 2 if possible great video ❤
We variious type of Dhoklas - khaman Dhokla, khatta Dhokla (little sour made from rice), vatti dal dhokla , sandwich dhokla, now we have dabeli dhokla, mexican dhokla available at Rajubhai dhoklawala kandivali west
Why everybody just eats nylon sweet khaman and not vatidal khaman. That's yum! Mumbai has so many farsaan shops also which has vatidal dhokla!! If you are reading this please try vatidal khaman and live dhokla❤️
Well, loving how you guys enjoy the gujarati food. But as being gujarati let me correct you that it's not DHOKLA its called KHAMAN. Dhokla is totally different and materials used in it is also not the same as of khaman. You guys are having Khaman....loving your content!!!! keep doing more.
We have Nadiadi Busu with Khakra and Koro Sambhar! 😅 Also (Fun Fact) when I visited Nadiad, I was shocked to know the Mumbai form of Nadiadi Busu doesn’t exist there!
Heyyy!! As a gujju I would like to correct you that it is not dhokla it is khamman . Dhokla and khamman are two different things what you ate was khamman.
That yellow thing is not DHOKLA itsss KHAMAN !! Dhokla madeup of rice and udad dal which is supposed to be white ! And KHAMAN made up of chana dal Even they both taste differently!!

Vaibhav's right dhokla is more famous and is found almost in every sweets shop
What they call dhokla outside of Gujarat is actually Khaman…not that anyone cares😂
@dhavalincredible hey thanks for letting me know, I thought that was dhokla😬
@@dhavalincredible Yeah they actually make khaman but call it dhokla since dhokla itself is a popular term.
Yes they are found in almost all shops but they are khaman and not dhokla they are different
I'm with VT when he says these are same material just in different forms😂 @coupling
Dhokla is more famous than Khakra for sure😊
