Brilliant! First off, Narain isn't driving a team car or a sponsor car, he's driving his own car, which is a fact that he has to completely put aside when pushing for a lap record. It's not like if there was a problem, or if he crashed, he could get into a 'spare' car. Secondly, this may be a GT3 but it's shod with road rubber and this showed on the corners, where you could see how much Narain had to correct his steering inputs to keep the track line and the car in complete control. It may have looked easy but watch his face when he's hitting the corners, he's clamping his jaw tight and grimacing as he focuses and fights for control.
What a champion this man is! Congratulations Narain, Porsche India and Autocar. BTW the video editing was awesome!
Very true, but the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires the GT3 comes with are some of the best road tires that can be used on the track.
Nice driving! Good to see another GT3 finding a capable owner who actually knows how to, and is willing to, drive the car the way it was designed to be driven!

That's a formala-1 driver for you..they are something else. Many congratulations to NK and team AI. And BIC is a gem for India which government should take seriously, there is so much potential there. Its a pride for all enthusiasts in country. I feel proud having set a lap time on it officially on my bike. I wish to set the lap record for fastest production bike there..someday. Well done guys.
To start with: It wasn't even a *Porsche 911 GT3 RS*
But Most importantly car had an F1 Race car driver. What else one could ask for!

Amazing. I still remember the drive of the Merc AMG GT3. It was phenomenal. Now, Porsche 911 GT has overcome it by a very good margin.

Porsche is always manufacturing very good and track focused car but I guess it can go little bit quicker but we this enjoyed a lot

I might not be soo confident. The GT2 RS has around 700 BHP while the GT3 makes around 500.
The GT3 comes with a naturally aspirated 4.0 Flat-6 hence the power is predictable and controllable.
The GT2 has a twin-turbo, which is susceptible to lag(even the most advanced turbo systems, there is lag), which will make it harder to handle the power.
Also the fact that the extra 200 Horses would mean, Oversteer Armageddon.

I want to see him do the lap in a Huracan Performante(or GT2 RS),it shattered nurburgring record Which was again beaten by the GT2 RS.( Which is quite different from BIC)

His Formula 1 career was too good to be true. He was a super fast, super talented driver, sadly in a slow car....he could've really done something phenomenal with the right car to his disposal

Proud to say.. He is my neighbourhood..
He's a Former F1 driver. Many things are taken into account. Like the driver style, track temperature, setup of the car. If everything is in a good place, you can go faster. Personally I think this 911 was slow, and Narain could have been much faster in other Cars, like the GT3 RS or A track focused R8. But Indians hardly know other brands so it's okay.
A GT3 RS would've been a better choice but not the R8. It's heavier and much more prone to understeer.
A much better option is the McLaren Senna or the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE.
Why not call Jehan Daruvala once in a while ? He deserves some recognition as the current Indian driver in F2 championship.

Was the TC and esp on or off, as when you are talking about a road car you need to drive like one as it was sliding alot.

The sliding compensated for the understeer caused by the street tires. And yes, Traction Control was off, otherwise, powersliding was not possible.
Damn its not even an RS model... God knows by how much margin would he destroy the record if it was the RS.... But Damn... He drives like a CHAMP...look at those slides....

@@Abhishek-150 that's not entirely true. He was running street tires which have a maximum grip compensation of 0.9 Gs on turns.
He would've definitely been faster without oversteering if he was running track tires.
Street tires on their limit tend to understeer which wastes even more time compared to Oversteer.
Narain is an F1 driver. I'm pretty sure he has more knowledge than any of us on how to drive a car faster around a track.

Politics yaar. Govt of India refuses to accept Formula 1 as sports event and calls it entertainment event. That is unacceptable to FIA (FIA is to Motorsports what ICC is to cricket or FIFA is to football)

With driver like Sebastien Loeb.. the record could even be under 90 seconds..
Because he was driving his personal car, not company sponsored one and also on stock set of tyres.
The understeer was the result of the use of street tires. It's not that he's a bad driver. He was on a handicapped setup.
@@Abhishek-150 90 seconds you say? The record is of Buddh International circuit is 1 minute, 27 seconds (that's 87 seconds), but the car used was a 980 BHP F1 car.
Even with Vettel or Jim Clarke(the greatest racing driver of all time), the Porsche won't even come close to 90 seconds.

A good F1 track wasted bcoz of lack of collaboration between govt and F1 body and not to say the popularity of this came down after first race as attendence came down due to lack of advertisement and marketing.

@@serenedystopia3488 agreed , but its acceleration is unparallel ,if the acceleration is implemented correctly by altering the racing line and braking a bit then its definitely faster than most gt3 and gt2 vehicles out there, and yeah it also comes in a sport mode or smth where it has like a +100 hp , so yeah this 911 thing overrated af
