Congrats on the improvement! Arrow slap was an issue I had for the longest time as well. I'm not sure what you attribute the improvement to, but I'd like to bring attention to the noticeably higher 'anchor' just before release. First day (even considering camera angle) your draw hand is parallel w/your shoulder, or lower, whereas today it's much higher. The higher position alone allows the hand to be much closer to the face for release, even on top of the shoulder, resulting in less initial deflection upon release - thus arrow slap. When it sounds like flicking a rubber band, you know you got it right, and ya it feels great. Good to see improvements like this!
thanks. i'm happy with it. i tend to lean in towards the target and it seems like that helped. also, holding is different compare to korean bows so i need to play with that in different ways. thanks for the info. i appreciate other archers' insights and knowledge. thanks :)
I always have arrow slap no matter what bow I use. Is it because I over extend this bring the tail of the arrow way too far past the center line of the bow thus cause it to slap on the way out
haha, i guess so. i only learned to shoot by doing it so i don't think i have specific shooting style. but i'm sure i was influenced a lot by chinese and korean archery style. ^_^
Do you put any torque on the bow draw when you khatra with the yarha? I can hear the arrow slap on my own yarha and i've always seen people say you shouldn't do khatra on a manchu bow but at the same time seen a few people do it with no issues.
not really sure on that. for me, changing grip pressure point on the bow hand and pulling and releasing towards back seemed to help. i'm not very efficient at it yet, but i'm sure i get there. :)
i have manchu rings from Alibow. still trying to figure out how to use it properly so that i can pull heavy bows in the future. but so far, with not much of luck. i'll keep play with it. ^_^;;
if you have lower poundage you can find them online. if your Manchu bow goes over 75# or so i would contact the bow maker to ask matching arrows. if neither work you can make them with heavy and strong wood or bamboo. :)

a manchu ring could also help. recommend trying one out if the opportunity arises. happy shootin.

Great video! What power is your bow?
thanks. it's 80# version. :)
Where's a good place to buy arrows for the Manchu?
