It's a very beautiful film, I loved it very much. It describes a situation that unfortunately still occurs here in Italy, that of the abuse of women by their partners. Paola Cortellesi is a very good actress and writer, and she has turned out to be a wonderful director. She is one of the figures in Italian cinema of whom I am most proud.

Just back from seeing this. I really enjoyed it. For reasons I won't bore you with, I thought I was going to see a film made in the 1940's! I was a bit surprised by the langauge at the opening but only twigged my mistake when the modern music kicked in. I will seek out your book. For One Horible Moment is still one of the funniest things I have ever heard on the radio. Best wishes, Jif, Jif Mousse.

The director and lead wrote the screenplay to make people aware of domestic violence. I hope that nobody thinks it no longer exists or that women getting the vote ended it. That would be a tragedy. Many many women watching this film will have experienced some or all of the incidents in the film and men in particular should reflect on themselves whether they are ever guilty of such behaviour such as believing a woman is their property and not think it belongs to post war Italy and nothing to do with them

As always...fascinating review. The film sounds well worth seeing. I really like post-war Italian cinema, so this would be right up my street. By the way, have you ever had any emails from a Mrs Trellis, of north Wales (apparently)? :)
