- Wind interviews Kevin on co-founding his band Malfunkshun with his brother Andrew Wood. Why he feels the Seattle scene evolved as it did. What are Andy’s lyrics about? Kevin coined one of the God Fathers of Grunge - though Kevin doesn’t like the term Grunge. Kevin shares one of his favorite guitars. Wind has learned to accept Kevin’s mistresses.
(Please forgive the buzz. We were having technical difficulties and decided to air this anyway since it was authentically raw and unedited).
Great listening to you both. Love that guitar! Great stories.
Thank you, Kevin and Wind for taking us all on your wonderful journey of your lives together sharing love, spirituality and music.I am thoroughly enjoying watching and listening to your stories. Kevin, I hope to visit with you and Wind sometime on one of your next trips to Seattle and In the meantime I will continue listening to both of your fascinating stories!
Thank you guys. I don’t know if you remember meeting me in Taos through Mark Barlos , but in my opinion, Pearl Jam was one of those bands. They forced into the calling it into the grunge circle, after Nirvana came out. To me. Grunge was Green River, screaming trees, mud, honey, the Melvins and other kind of modern at the time punish rock bands.. To me mother love bone was very different from these bands to me. Mother Love Bone was kind of a 60s love & peace meets the cult like you said, kind of realm… because of Andrew.
I remember sitting and having dinner with you guys and thinking about these things.. I could tell Kevin was not into talking about it at the time, so I didn’t bring it up. But I did very much enjoy coming over your house and jamming some songs with you. You showing me some vintage marshals and you’re flying V 🎸🔥..I think when they were labeling it grunge on MTV… By that time they had commercialized it🤢 it took away from the true meaning of what was going on through all those years…. I’m 55 years old and I watched it all.
Also.. I don’t like how they didn’t include you in the credits of a lot of things, like? What was called? Pearl Jam 20 or some shit? I was pissed they didn’t include you in that video to give you credit! anyways… it was an honor to meet you and play guitar with you🎸🔥🎸

I didn't know who Andrew Wood was until just a couple weeks ago and I listened to MLB in my early twenties. I got very interested in his story and then also Layne Staley.. I wish like heck these two guys were still with us.
Just said my sentiment exactly..you cant do it all..but yes..make time for the guitar or things you really enjoy.
Love the guitar
As a teen in the late 80s/early 90s, Mother Love Bone was my favorite band, so much so that i named my daughter Xana. Shes is 26 & Beautiful! Malfunkshun has a rock frequency matched by noone. The devil ruined music on Earth.
What's in the box!?!?
