I always learn something watching your channel. I've also thought about bending the arms on my 2-point trems but I've always been afraid to mess it up. Also, my forearms suck.
Oh c'mon just bend it. You can always buy another bar. It's no big deal. Use vice grips, use a rag to not scratch the metal, pin the one end down someway somehow, and give it the tiny bend
Thanks for the tip. I don’t have a heat gun but tried with my hairdryer and also works plus less chance of burning things. Do use the vice though because it still gets hot.
Hey Mike are you going to do a review of that Guild Surfliner deluxe ? And thanks for the arm tricks , glad to see you back , we need more of your vids Man ✌🏼
I was so in need of this video, I was bending bars before the end of it. I was nervous because I had bent an AVRI Strat bar in a vice not long ago and it got these marks that look like pitting or micro dings. I figured it was too cold and bent too fast.
@@NintenDub It definitely wasn't the vice because I use silicone to protect the bar. But as far as AVRI bring cheap..🤷♂️ It seems more like something heating the chrome could have prevented.
Is that enough? Is that enough? Is that enough? Darn, I was waiting for it, Mike, no dice today. You made up for it with the Arnold impression, however. Thank you for another good video. I’ve been wondering about your trem arms, was thinking they were aftermarket.
I am old and have about half of Mike's arm size and I can bend them by hand. So just be careful and figure out of you are maybe leveraging your muscles wrong when trying folks. Peace and stay safe
Speaking of tremolo arms... remember the video you did with Ryan from 60 cycle where you were fussing with the springs on the trem? He was getting a clunk from his JM trem after install. What caused that? Did you fix it? If so, how? Mine has developed the same weird clunk.
Damn, so I'm SOL with my squire goldie? I'm fairly new to the jazzmaster world and I have trouble wanting to use the vibrato arm. I wonder if this is why. 🤔
ok but can the next video be about getting the muscular constitution for bending those arms??? great video, going downstairs to to try to bend my vibrato arm
I can already tell you without trying that My little tRex arms will not bend it Mike 😆 tho I do think I would benefit from that kind of modification on my Ampro II with a mastery kit on it. Lol the red alert text and sound was amazing.. set heat gun to Stun 😂
Thanks again! I’m pretty strong for a skinny guy but ‘tried this a few times… always ends with the vise 😅 Squier VI arm now always hits the spot, and my JM, my Jag, my JagStang… and my Strats! Works for all.
My daughter names her instruments after Annime characters. I name my acoustic guitars after women from Arthurian legend, and my electric guitars after the knights (Percival, Cardoc, Mordred, Cuniglass, Nimoui, Genevier, Cywin, and so on.) Star Wars might have figured in if only my UA-cam handle wasn't already named after a wookie. To be certain, I have guitars that would fit Shak-Tii, Krayt, Plo Koon, Boba Fett, and Reven. But I haven't owned enough to exhaust the Arthurian names.
Okay I gotta ask, what kind of vise would you recommend for things like this kind of DIYing bc it looks super low profile and ideal for my very modular setup! unfortunately i do not have the privilege of a permanent workbench space 😅
Thanks for the great tip! Going to try this out on my Marrguar today. Where'd you get that mint guard for yours? I'm looking to swap the stock white one on mine for mint as well. Cheers!
Hey Mike, I'm not sure if it's worth your time, but thought I'd let you know I have a Paranormal Jazzmaster® XII coming on Friday, so if you wanted to do a review of it without having to spend the measly $400 for it, I'd offer to let you take it for a spin. I'd even buy you a coffee in person...
Your playing and tones are always spot on Mike, glad to have you back more frequently again!

Fender be listening and it appreciates the trem bend commendation.
Oh my god I'm loving the Hello Kitty Squier strat on the right, I see you mike!!! hahaha!
It needs some fretwork, but expect to see that thing on the channel soon!
Thanks! That’s what I was looking to do!🎉
that blue guitar is sooo killer
Rocky!!!! Was just admiring it in the shop here in Dublin. Shoutout to some neck. You won't find a cooler shop.
We keep talking about taking a trip, and that’s a shop I would like to visit. And Rocky! So cool

It's from the vice. Or the cheap metal

That Guild looks sweet!!
just listened to your podcast where you talk about playing at your father's funeral..................really made me think about things, great podcast

That mint green guard is a great replacement for the stock white guard. I put a a black one on mine.
Artoo has takin on that aged sonic blue now 👌🏻
Such a good video!!!! We needed this!
nice one, I bent my squier VM JM arm as you said, it worked, thank you
I finally get it. It's for ergonomics.

Hi Mike! Thanks for reminding me to do this!
I just did this with my Cobain Jag :D
World of difference! Thanks
More than arm mustard, you have to have some damn strong thumbs!
A little arthritis in mine and ARGH💥
Should all Weird Tricks include a vise?
Excellent stuff Mike you Fender Bender
Super useful vid, Mike.

It seems so obvious to me you need an all rosewood Jazzmaster. Maybe with a bandolier strap?
Lmao!
Did you do the “pun intended” voice? That was awesome!
yeah I was going for the sound of RESIDENT EVIL… TWO
@@Puisheen the level of detail was awesome for 1 second bit!
Nice Jazzmaster. What is the color of the pickguard ?
Thank you !
That’s a mint guard from fenderparts on ebay/reverb that’s been on there for over ten years now. It’s aged gracefully
@@Puisheen thanks very much for your answer ! 😉
I'm here to watch big red work those arms.
Seen the TK Smith pivoted Bigsby arm?
Ooow! I broke my little girlie-man arms trying to bend my vibrato arm. Thanks a LOT.

I always use my knee to bend my trem arms
Yeah I think I might do it to my arm
I did it.
Worth it
Hey Mike! I’m curious if you can do method 2 with a soldering iron if you don’t have a heat gun?
I used a lighter 😅, though it did leave a mark on my guitar lmao
Happy to report if you don’t have a heat gun a hair dryer on its highest heat setting does the trick too!
This method worked for my squier j.mascis. Thanks
Any tips for how to find aftermarket (Amazon?) arms that can bend without breaking?

What year/style is R2? What amp was that? Why do I ask so many questions?!? That guitar-amp combo is FAT and GROWLY! 👽
Artoo: 2007 Fender AVRI62 Thin Skin in Sonic Blue
I’m using the Helix Brit 75 which is a Park
Puisheen, is a Manly Man who breaks arms at will! 😂
Who makes that fantastic strap?
Couch!
what star wars ship is that on your desktop background?
My Vintera Jaguar literally came with a Strat bar 😂
The metal is really soft
It’s really easy to bend
Atleast in my 66 reissue it was
Way easier than my squier
Goddamn Mike you sure can play the electric guitar.
Thank you, Matt!
Nice vid as always, but there was no need to get so bent out of shape and strong arm me. At least there was some wiggle room.
Well played haha
Is the bar on your tattoo bent though?
Surfliner review when?
SOON!
