I'll apologize in advance for the little rant at the beginning. I know in this space, there will always be people who attempt to go out of their way to talk down on people's interest. Even so, let people like what they like. If One Piece is not your thing, then you have every right to not watch it. But never go out of your way to tell someone who does find value in One Piece (or any show/movie/game etc) that they are wasting their time or you think the story isn't worth watching. It's not for you to decide what's worth it and what's not when it comes to how other people spend their free time.

@Rage Kage people just dont want to see it bc they dont appreciate anything but fights and more emotional stuff. I appreciate the comedy though also I want the people watching it for the first time to experience the show in its entirety because the anime is different from the manga anyway so might as well see all of it and when you get that deep in my opinion i'd rather have more content to watch than less

One Piece is such a heart touching anime, the Author Eiichiro Oda tackles real world issues like racial discrimination, inequality, injustice, corrupt government, civil war and slavery. It can be life changing. Freedom. Emotions. Adventures. Friendships. One Piece is like a gift that offers all of this to you. You should watch the anime or read the manga when you are ready, for your own enjoyment. But the longer you put it off, the longer your sleeping on this truly magical fiction!

Every island literally is it’s own little world. Not only do they look vastly different from each other, as you noted multiple times, but they each have their own weather patterns, culture, political problems, societal problems etc. It makes the world feel alive, you always have this sense that there are so many things going on off screen, and that what we are seeing is only a small part. Good luck on your journey!❤️🔥

    "As a writer."
I'm sure you can learn a lot and appreciate a LOT of the narrative choices and construction and world-building and development and progression going on in this story. It was the one Shonen Manga that got me excited for a piece of media since I've re-read the Lord of The Rings recently. I caught up to One Piece (900 +/- chapters at the time) in a little over 7 months. Great read, and from my personal friend's point of view, "as a writer," it gave him cool perspectives; of course, depending on what your writing is. NONETHELESS; I've been rambling, but, TLDR; Awesome content, love the analysis and the eagerness for alive worlds as a writer. much love and keep it up

Considering how much history our world has, I can only imagine the history of One Piece when every individual island is more or less a country of its own. Not to mention the Void Century, possibly the greatest mystery in One Piece besides the One Piece itself.
I have no doubt in my mind that Historians, Geographers, Archaeologists, Botanists, and scientists of every kind would have an absolute blast with this world.
(Ignore how they would all probably die if they stepped into the wrong pirates territory where all the juicy history stuff is at)

I have watched the anime and read weekly, which I've been doing for almost a decade. I started watching one piece when I was 12. I'm 22 in 2 months. My advice for watching one piece would just be, appreciate the humour and try your best to pay attention to as much of the dialogue as possible because a lot of of stuff is hinted at throughout the show, and a lot of people when they start don't understand how much everything is tied together, connected, foreshadowed etc. Just take at your own pace and enjoy it :)

This is not just a good looking Island, There're a natural habitat unique for each Island, there's the cutural differences and how people in each Island lived with their environment, their transportation, their way of making a living, Like the city of water called "Water 7" is building on a submerge city, they're famous for the world class shipwrights and their town will be fully submerge by the natuaral disaster called "Aqua Laguna" once every years so they adapt to that environment by making most of the structure a canal and town people are transport by a sea-horse like creauture. They're pretty friendly with a pirate as well since most of the pirate are the customer of their advance shipyard. Mind you that all of this information never told in such a expository fashion but you experience it though our main characters eyes and to top it off, One Piece got that fantastic stories with twist and turn as well. It's truly mindblowing that all of this came from a mind of one man.

They're something like 1000+ named characters in One Piece and almost all have at least something that makes them feel more real than what you often find in fiction. Same with the places, you were spot on in thinking all of them seem important. Oda is a master of hiding tiny details that come back hundreds of chapters later to entirely change the way you see things but it was there all along.

I'm also considering reacting to specific episodes that are requested, but it's still a little too early to ask everyone which episodes they'd like to see, I think. One Piece is a totally parallelized story. Several events occur all the time at the same time, in different locations, and each of them affects what happens in the present or in the future of the other parallel events.
With that alone, One Piece is already wonderful. But that's just the tip of the iceberg.

So Ill say this as it is related to the world. As a reader of Classical Literature. And MANY manga and Comic. One Piece has a World as flushed out and expansive and Real feeling as Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. Only instead of Hundreds if not thousands of fans adding to it. Oda the author him self has put in the time and effort to connect People Places and things together. And give details on the how and why. He created dozens of different unique tribes of people and hundreds of countries. And hundreds of Islands with their own environment weather culture and history. Its amazing to see real world influence in these islands. Everything from The middle East to central America to The south east asia influences and all in between. He uses the Islands as a vehicle to explore themes and aspects of different time periods but still connects them together in a way that makes you believe they co exist in this world. Fantasy and Sci Fi sit side by side. Its in all honesty the most complete and diverse Fictional world I have ever enjoyed and I have enjoyed a LOT of them.

Oda Eiichiro is simply one of the geniuses of our lifetime when it comes to writing, in skill and execution he outclasses writers outside his medium too. like forget about the medium being manga/comics, the story itself is masterclass and should be considered in the leagues of the most iconic fantasy literature titles. the quality is just that good. and he's been patiently building it for 25 years. that sort of planning, foresight, dedication and patience truly speaks for his caliber as a story teller. a lot of writers lose inspiration or grow disconnected from their own stories even in less time than half of that. a lot of stories get rushed or decline after a certain point for various reasons. but one piece has not decline in quality in all of its run and there's great deal of reason as to why even after almost 3 decades of its start it's gaining new waves of fans all across the board. once you give your time to one piece the story itself will prove it to you just why it is considered the greatest in many aspects and why it's the sole icon of the japanese comics industry. it'll prove itself over and over again. i've been a dedicated fan reading it since 13 years ago and it's still blowing my mind weekly. if that's not an experience anyone would want to be a part of then i don't know what to say.

One piece is very special to me. Eiichiro Oda created a master piece. With a great story with great characters and a amazing world. I started to watch and love One piece when i was in elementary school 3th grade. And still watching it and reading the manga too. Cause its still one of the best anime/manga in history. Many people don't even try to watch it cause its very many episodes or cause its have a goofy style i mean by that how some characters are drawn . But many people don't know what they missing. Once you got hooked in you understand why people love it so much and was able to watch over 1000 episodes or reading over 1000 chapters or both . It will be never be a anime/manga again like One piece . Sure there is a lot of very good and master piece anime and manga. But One piece is something different somehow. Its not easy to explain. But i think veteran and TRUE fans understand what i mean.

One Piece needs to be long because the story is huge. The plot is consistent and there's no chapter that takes away from the plot.

let me just start by saying loved the reaction but i started one piece on april 28th 2020 after a friend had bugged me for months and i can honestly say its the best decision ive ever made and honestly probably ever will because not only has this series made me realize things about myself such as me being bi because there was a queer character i hated for a while and i never really knew why until i figured it was because i was holding in my sexuality because of the way i was raised and that lead to mislead hate, or how this series helped me realize i had an addictionof which im on day 40 of beating, but the biggest reason as to why i love this series is the world that oda has created feels SO REAL even though its extremely unrealistic because the series gets into topics such as racism, war, grief, asking for help, addiction, etc. and it does it in such an amazing way that really teaches you about the topics as well as so many of the 1000+ characters have well explained backstories, goals, personality's, motivations, etc and even with that many characters it makes them so remember able to even someone like me who suffers with ADHD plus theres is things that will happen while the story is focused on our main characters and those things that are happening end up affecting the world in many ways
anyway sorry for the rant or if you even see this but i would highly recommend checking it out whether it is the manga or anime i prefer the anime because of the animation, voice acting, music, etc but again you could check it out however you feel and take it at your own pace you dont have to watch a set amount per day or read a set amount per day because at the end of the day the series is entirely about the journey of not only you catching up but the journey in the series as well anyway thank you if you decided to read this and have an amazing day

Currently, I am not planning on starting it on my channel. I plan on watching it naturally with my 2 housemates. I have discussed with them the possibility of recording maybe highly requested/anticipated episodes, but I don't want to record our entire experience with One Piece. But yes, I agree that any episodes I do upload will be in batches instead of individually.

@@Ezret That seems like a good idea having to edit all those videos would be a pain. you should consider doing like arc reviews as you go, its always cool to see people's reactions and stuff like that and it doesn't require you to record yourself or your friends watching it

    • @atheivzle1383

@@Ezret it's a really good idea to just watch it on your own and only record/upload hype episodes. And you can just ask in a community post about things you don't understand or confused with. Because there are times when the fans ruin the moments in the episodes so.. That way there won't be pressure in watching and you can just enjoy the ride.

the wildest criticism i hear of one piece is how long it is. for me it was just too cartoon-ish and the first few arcs are pretty one note, until i actually dove in and got completely submerged in the world, the characters and the story at large being told, and now it's not long enough. but i only know that because i watched it lmao, so what's your excuse if it's "too long" ... like if you're a thousand episodes in and you feel that way then fair enough, but i guarantee you wont
just want to add too, there isn't a ton of filler but it's actually alright all things considered. i think the only thing the anime suffers from the most is pacing but if you're binging it you're gonna have a good time

I definitely get if someone doesnt like OP or any series, band etc in general. But if you dont like it then why do these people even watch these vids?
Its the same as if I would visit a country concert and then start shouting around how annoying this genre is, and that the music is garbage.
    Holy smoke, some people...

My only advice is to expect it to start slow. The world feels larger and larger the further you go, but since the story focuses on Luffy, his area of influence starts very small and the world hardly feels as epic as this video portrays at the beginning. Stick with it, it only gets better and better!
