      For myself Yes, I prefer Tizen OS it’s the best special for IPTV apps. It does give you best picture quality & it’s my first choice
      Second choice it will be Apple TV iOS then the last choice will be Android OS it does offer more apps but the picture quality always more brighter than should be.

    Can you go a 2022 review of these OD's, since a lot of them have been massively updated, especially Google/Android TV. You can even do a more comprehensive comparison with big budget brands like Vizio and Hisense. I know they both use to have a lot of delay/lag, would love to see how they fair against their competition today.

    I appreciate your feedback, but please keep in mind something very important that android TV are stable up to some extend it's bugge from time to time. My old Samsung TV was much more stable due to the limitation of installed app. Please Keep in mind that most home theaters sync are done using App which will always have issue connecting different brand with different TV models.
    Currently i took me 2 days to figure out why my Samsung Home Theater HT5500 is not recognized by my Sony 7004d. It turns out that due to compatibility issue with ARC app and had to make a tick to make it work.
    After all, if you just want the default apps (Mostly steaming apps) with some features such as ARC PCM etc, it's stable enough. i still support his recommendation by going android TV

    Smart TV OS support period is an important factor. A Smart TV can last for 10 years or more, but smart tv software will last (with support) for at most 5 to 8 years only for LG brand.
    I bought a LG - 3D - 55" smart around 2013. However, it cannot watch UA-cam and Netflix after 2017 due LG Web OS 2.0 end of support in 2017. I need to add TV box for watching UA-cam and Netflix for such 2013 TV.
    You prepare to expect the LG Web OS 3.0 will only last for at most 5 to 8 years for current LG TV model. Once the support period expired, your invested 4K 65 LG TV becomes useless or need to add post market TV box because it cannot watch UA-cam and Netflix any more. Buying Samsung smart TV may also face similar future support problem too.
    You can still use obsolete window XP for watching UA-cam, but don't expect you can use LG Smart TV watching UA-cam after expiry of supporting period!

      there's no point of buying a TV for all that stuff. I bought an LG C9 strictly for picture quality and price. The software and remote was a huge bonus. Even if I didn't have those, I'd just use an Apple TV 4K or a 4k fire stick (they cost $25).

      That's why Smart TV Box are made. To upgrade old TVs and a 5 year old TV is an old TV. Smart TV box are cheap dude. Get one and stop blaming the manufacturer. They did their part. They will not survive on supporting an old device for very long time. Even microsoft doesn't support their OS fot 10 years except for XP.

    • @KarthikSankaran

      Just don't buy smart TVs. End of story. If you really really need smart features get Android TV dongle or if you have a gaming console, use that. Smart TVs are temporary & as manufacturers move onto newer models, OS versions of previous models almost never receive an update & if they do, support is non existent.

    • @DeepishMoog
      @DeepishMoog 4 роки тому +1

      Smart tvs are hard to avoid, with most of the mid and top tiers having apps for convenience. You can still find lcd tvs that aren't smart. But I think the vast majority of qled and oled are. It's unfortunate some tvs are no longer supported beyond a few years, but the apps should still largely work for several. In your model's case, maybe not. It may be the apps themselves (Netflix, prime etc) that discontinue support for older tv model os. If using your tv to watch movies, Blu-ray disc for instance, player devices are smart and have many of the apps you'd want. So if you want a samsung TV, but also Android services, you can do that with an external android device. These too also lose support eventually. Even my game console loses support for apps from time to time, and doesn't have every app I want. That's of course on purpose, apps are licensed to drive consumers to the companies that Are available on their particular device. They drop support eventually because it's time in resources in which they're no longer making money, and would like you to buy a new product with their newly supported app on it. There's not a lot of assurances for consumers that their product will be supported for a long time. You have to look at that company's track record and make an educated guess. It could be you'll find most of the apps you want on one device, like your TV, a Blu-ray player or console, then perhaps an Android fire stick or roku will supply the apps the others don't have. That's the norm.

    I have Apple TV and honestly I would strongly recommend just use the apps from the TV. The main reason is because everything is optimized and ready to work within the TV. When you plug any external device you have to set your TV to work properly with the connected device. With the connected device. There is a bunch of settings not only from the TV HDMI port that you have to adjust to calibrate but also from the Apple TV. Just something I wanted to share.
    I understand that Apple's interface is nice and smooth but the movies do clip here and there there even after I calibrate it everything. Not to mention that any device that you plug in is limited to 60 Hz at 4K.. so if you have 120 Hertz TV,, forget it. Those are just my thoughts and my experiences

    The BEST OS is the one that does not stand in your way!!!
    I have never owned a samsung, so I can't say anything about tizen (couple of my friends own one, still not impressed), but webos gets out of your way. It's fast and easy. We had a sony android tv the last couple of years and me and the misses never stopped complaining. Besides missing time shift and other features it was laggy and more in your way than helping you. The tv kept crashing and was all in all really slow.
    Before anyone complains; It was a 55" Bravia that was top of the line when we bought it. Yes, good tv, os annoying as f****.
    We ended up buying another lg. We miss the second "regular" remote that they used to include but in no means do we miss entering text with a cross navigation, instead having the magic pointer. Aside from the remote, no complains about the os yet. Intuitive, fast, does what its supposed to.
    The LG feels like a tv with easy access to everything else you might need. The Sony felt like an android tv that was kinda sorry when shit was not working...

    Dont buy android TV's, they will hang or lags after some months and compare to web OS and Tizen OS android OS booting time is more, your TV will take 30+ seconds to start. while in booting web OS is killer, web OS takes max 5 sec to start TV even after 2 years the time for start TV is same. Android OS will hang your after few month and don't side load more apps in android TV. So for great TV experience go with LG web OS or Samsung Tizen OS still you want android experience in web OS you can attach android stream box (mi, Nokia etc) which is worth 2000(INR) only (30 USD approx).

    • @marvelmaniac3339
      @marvelmaniac3339 Рік тому

      @Deanna Oddly enough, I got both the LG and the Samsung. LG for the price as I got a great deal on it, and the Samsung cuz it works with my other Samsung stuff and works similarly to Android.
      I would have bought an Android TV as it would interface nicely with my mobile and google home, but there weren't any quality branded Androids. I trust Samsung and LG. I have a much harder time trusting hardware with odd randomly spelled foreign names.
      I will throw out there that Vizio would be a great android option. Walmart backs its brand nicely thru extended warranties. I handed down my Vizio to my Mom when I upgraded... 20 years ago... it's still crankin along flawlessly!

    We have kids that like to turn on the TV at 4 in the morning and specifically we cannot lock or control UA-cam. If they want to watch guns and horrid content all night they will. There are very few people reviewing the parental controls anywhere. We had to go to the store and try the different ability's of each tv. Sony came out the winner. But there is a missing area of review and that is parental controls.

    • @aDogNamedGromit
      @aDogNamedGromit 2 роки тому +1

      for most devices you can even turn the TV on and there is no lock on the TV itself. The kids can get into it with buttons without the remote with no lock code to turn it on. If they are there and the TV is there they can watch it. Impossible to lock it. With the sony you can lock specific apps. and even load parental control apps in the android system. Our older Visio TV was horrible for this. We find the existing parental controls quite limited in general.

    I would never use the app store or google playstore on my tv.
    Everytime you download stuf you flood the onboard system with all data and it will become overheated, even lower the lifespan of your tv hardware.
    There is so much crap left behind, and make its unstable. See as as your phone.
    I even want to uninstall apps that i dont need, to let things run smooth, its better to buy a apple tv, or good android tv box.
    It also has some other benefits, not all onboard Os suport hdr or other features, great tv boxes do.
    I realy like webOS btw, it has a minimalistic overlay

    • @JoshFisher567
      @JoshFisher567 4 роки тому

      Why not? You don't even get Chrome with Android TV, at least not on the Shield TV Pro 2019. Sites like PureAPK are just mirrors for the play store. Some apps will need keyboard and a mouse. These seem like settings that app makers could easily optimize but they simply don't. With a keyboard and mouse I get Real VNC (free) and MS Remote Desktop Manager so with a keyboard and mouse I have access to my PC. I've also found that apps like OpenVPN Connect work better then the ones in the actual TV store. It wouldn't connect to Kodi over my VPN to my house but OpenVPN Connect could with no issues. The only issue with the Shield is no UA-cam HDR. While Nvidia should of added support for the VP9 Profile 2 codec I still blame Google for forcing their codec on users when HVEC is pretty much the standard for all streaming HDR apps.

There is limited memory space for app installs, apps that I have no intent of using that cannot be uninstalled, and apps that I would consider to be mainstream that are unavailable. There is no CNN app, no ABC app, no NatGeo app. There is a lengthy post on Samsung's community forum about the lack of memory issue and Samsung's refusal to address it.
