Jimin (the one with the blonde ponytail) studied contemporary dance and modern dance in school. He was the top student of his group. In the Black Swan M/V (music video), this shows even more as he does some contemporary moves outside of the choreography. Loved your reaction 💜
I can definitely tell he has trained in modern and contemporary his technique is really strong. Thanks for the information I'll be checking out the music video :)
@@margaretpughdance There is also a behind the scenes of his dance solo. I highly recommencd it. And the dove actually references their next song ON. There is NOBODY inside or outside of "Kpop" like BTS. In terms of talent, musicality, production, content, creativity, artistry, philanthropy and originality. They have transcended genre and national boundaries.
The bird at the end, its a dove. This performance was the first part of like a series of songs they performed at this award show. Their next part of the performance, right after this was ON(its a song in case ur confused). The dove has a symbolic representation in ON. Thats why the dove, theyre transitioning from this performance to the next. Anyways, nice reaction. 💜
I'm so sorry I just realized some footage was lost around 6:12 I really have no idea where it went. Basically I was saying that in ballet the technique is to never reach an end point and to continue to grow your lines, while other styles have clear periods at the end of movements. I like the way that the stops are added to this choreo to make it dynamic. Once again so sorry I lost the footage, that's embarrassing lol. Hope y'all enjoy the video tho!
I recommend the music video and the behind the scene of jimin solo I think you would love it and I would like to see your explanation of that behind the scene solo
Hi! Was just recommended your channel! I might be repeating someone else or saying things you already know, but... No matter what some rude people say, don't be afraid to: pause, replay scenes frame by frame if you need to, make long videos, use onomatopoeia, and flail around (lol), etc. Don't worry about making mistakes re: K-pop terminology or BTS facts while you're learning. Talk about your assumptions, but don't make assumptions, because BTS are uncharted territory in the world of K-pop. ARMY is all about watching reactors bring their expertise to the table so we can learn even more about our group. As much examination as we can get in any aspect of their performance and their persons is fascinating. We hope it is fascinating for you, too, and you continue to explore their work! We always welcome new ARMY, too. ;-) I suggest you enlarge those footnotes so they are easier to read. We are excellent subtitle readers, but that font makes it a bit difficult for older eyes. You might reference Cedric Gegel's use. He's got it down. Plus, among all his other specialties, he's a former dancer!
It was so fun to watch along with you! You should definitely watch the Black Swan Art Film MV vs. the Black Swam MV. The Art Film is a more classical interpretation of the song and the dancing is done by a professional contemporary ballet company. The Art Film is also how BTS/Big Hit unveiled this song to the world (the Art Film was released before the original MV and the spotify digital download). I found it profoundly interesting that they chose that method to release a new song. BTS' MV came almost a month later and filtered the same music through BTS' own choreography and style. As someone who loves BTS and also ballet, I found it extremely interesting that they chose to release new music in this way. Kpop as a genre, places a lot of importance on the visual aspects of the art--so music, performance, dance, stagecraft, concept--etc Is extremely important. They really are about the whole package. This is true for BTS and also other Kpop groups. For BTS, especially--everything is intentional.
The guy who you pointed out lifted his leg high, Jimin, actually did study modern/contemporary dance before joining BTS and he was one of the top students in the department!
@@1marieleathem don’t think so! you can see jimin lifting his leg up and jungkook going down to lift him up at 16:47 by 16:50 she stopped to say “okay his leg actually goes up pretty high” .. pretty sure she was talking about jimin here !! 💜
As someone who has done and edited a few reaction videos but never uploaded them, I can tell you put a lot of work and effort into this video so I really appreciate this! :) And also I always love to see commentary on their dances because I also do ballet so I love to hear other peoples reaction to these. It's so nice to see and hear people notice these small things that not a lot of people might not see.
And okay, that frisbee hand motion thingy you said with hand momentum was 10/10, huh that's a nice way to think of the movements. Sometimes I have a difficult with continuing the movements before the next step to kind of bind them together so I might have to try and think of flying a frisbee next time😂
I took ballet, tap and other styles for 10 years in my youth. Only local dancing. However it gave me a great appreciation for the art of dance. You should check out the barefoot live version they did on James Corden. And now I’ve fallen down the BTS rabbit hole!) I think this song and MV deserved more recognition. Another video that has great dancing is “On Kinetic Manifesto.” They performed this also in a closed Grand Central Station on Jimmy Fallon Tonight Show.
omg i loved your reaction 😭 you’re so cute and i enjoyed listening to everything you had to say. please react to more bts if you want 🥺 they’re amazing dancers! i’m sure a lot of people must have said this already, but one of them (the one being lifted in the second video!) is actually trained in modern dance! anyway, thanks for the reaction, i’d love to see more!!!
Yay! New vocab, "hwom!" "Fwoop!" added to the language of "Pah!"😂💜 Technical feedback: if you could leave your subtitles up a bit longer, straighten and thicken the font used, it would be much appreciated and easier to read. Besides older eyes you might also have a large section of English-as-a-foreign-language speakers trying to decipher what you've written. Feel free to pause as much as you need to, rewind like you did for moves you want to really study, and make up whatever words you need to go along with talking with your hands and body, lol. We get it 😁. There's always going to be someone who complains you pause too much or not enough, so try to let it roll off your back and do what you need for yourself. We are most interested in authenticity, not doing it "right" or to a standard length of video time. Just be you. We love people sharing their expertise or passionate knowledge perspective. 💜
Your reaction was adorable I’m a pretty newish fan to BTS and I have a feeling you will be on this journey for a long time to come, have fun these men are incredible and there work ethic is amazing!
You are very pleasing to watch and it is so evident that you just outright enjoy dance. I personally like your explanations. Reactions from ppl that aren't necessarily used to filming reactions is always a joy for me. Thank you.
Very interesting reaction. I hope you do more. However, please, please don’t skip within the official videos. It’s completely unnecessary with BTS. As long as you include the company intro there is no copyright issue with Hybe/BigHit music and background videos, they welcome reactors as part of the process of getting their messages out in the world. You can show the whole thing (ARMY won’t object to longer videos). You could also watch the Black Swan official mv, which is a work of art in its own right, and the Art film with the MN Dance Company.
Margaret, you are so brave to do your first reaction video. Fighting! Thank you for your reaction. I have never seen a reactor comment on their performance that they give through their eyes. This has always been fascinating to me and a powerful aspect of their performances. I think you are going to love their other work too. And the fact that you stopped at the "flying squirrel" part to watch all the members makes you my kind of reactor/analysis giver. As for your dancing language/onomatopoeia, you and J-Hope would get along well. 😄 Basically, I cannot wait for your next BTS reaction. I think you would also enjoy live performances of Butterfly or Spring Day for another contemporary flavor dances and solo work by Jimin such as Serendipity or Lie or his solo sections of Black Swan.
i watched a lot of reactions of this dance pratice and performance but yours is definitely one of my favorites 💜 i love all your explanations, it was really nice to hear. please continue with the reactions to them, i think you'll be surprised. thank u for the reaction 💜💜
I appreciate your insights as a dancer. BTS never fails to impress, whether it's dancers, singers, songwriters, producers, rappers, or muggles. There is no one like them. Never has been and never will be again.
loved your reaction! it was full of amazing commentary and it was so nice to hear you explain everything, interesting and detailed and v engaging!! sending hugs
Great reaction! I think you would definitely enjoy watching the choreography for their songs “Blood, Sweat, and Tears” and “Fake Love.” The eclipse performance was so gorgeous and a wonderful payoff for something they set up the previous year with Jungkook and Jimin’s solo dances. I definitely recommend their solo performances from 2019 MMA (I mean I recommend their whole 40 minute set from that year because it’s iconic 😂) Also another great live performance of Black Swan happened at the Tonight Show in 2020. It’s truly remarkable hearing them sing the song live while doing such complex choreography. I was lucky enough to see them perform live in LA, and it’s incredible. 💜
Thanks for this reaction! I loved hearing your dancer's perspective on this. But, hey, you don't need to berate yourself when you make a small mistake. It's not a big deal, and we are just happy to learn more about dancing from you! 💜
I see you have a Las Vegas Hoodie, BTS will have a concert in Las Vegas on April. 22:59 Jimin is flexible he studied contemporary dance and a top student, he also experienced martial arts. Thanks for reacting to BTS
One of them did a short solo performance in water and it’s one of my favs i wish it was longer!!! Also don’t apologize for ranting, it shows that you’re really passionate about dancing, personally i don’t get bored listening to someone who shows how passionate they are about the subject!
Great reaction! I think you’d really enjoy their ‘Blood, sweat and tears’, ‘Idol’, ‘Fire’, and ‘On: Kinetic Manifesto Film’ dance practice videos! All very different from Black Swan and each other, you can really see their range!
BTS as a group have been dancing & performing for last 8+ years on top of some of the members’ themselves have been dancing & rapping long before they were globally famous.
Black Swan is based off a quote by Martha Graham who was famous for her work in modern dance. "A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing and this death is the hardest." The song speaks about their fear of one day being on stage singing, rapping or dancing but it doesn't move them like it did before. They're all still young men (24-29) and have been active within this industry since 2013 when the youngest was just 15. There's another version of Black Swan that's more instrumental based and has a dance company perform. The second segment you watched used this version but only 6 of the 7 were able to perform as one of the rappers was out due to shoulder surgery. I'll link the other version because it's beautiful and you might have a deeper connection to it being a dancer. Link: ua-cam.com/video/vGbuUFRdYqU/v-deo.html Make sure the CCs are turned on for English subtitles!
To add on it is not only "Swan Lake" referenced but also the movie "Black Swan". Since we are on "The Map of the Soul" - a book about Jungian psychology - this song is an exploration of their "Shadow"/Unconsciousness as artists. The fear of the death of passion. And maybe they sound like that also because "everything is ocean floor" and they are drowning in their shadow/fear. Funnily enough the position at the end and beginning reminds me of "Fake Love" and them being/feeling like marionettes not in control of themselves even as the lack comes here from wthin instead from an outside relationship. So this was maybe wanted? Love your comment Sometimes Siri. This is just an add-on to yours. Borahae! 💜
@@lilypudd FYI in Fake Love choreo when some members like Jimin and JK drop to the floor in a half-split, it is like the marionette strings are being cut.
It's very nice to see this from the perspective of a dancer. I enjoyed it very much, and I loved your personality. Would love to see more reaction videos to BTS dance practices. If you don't mind, though, I have a few requests: first, could you maybe make the written commentary (in white) a bit larger? Sometimes, due to my bad Internet speed, the video isn't very sharp, so I wasn't able to follow some of the things you had written. Second, could you please watch the whole thing once, and then go back and comment? It was a bit hard for me to visualize/appreciate the dance as a whole this way. Finally, could you also comment on how much the dance is related to the meaning the song is trying to get across? I know it's in Korean, but there are lyric videos, etc. that could help. For example, I know that this song in particular was inspired by the BTS members' fear of losing their passion for creating creating music, and particularly by a quote by a dancer named Martha Graham who is quoted as saying, "A dancer dies twice, once when she stops dancing, and this death is more painful." Thanks again for the reaction, and looking forward to more BTS. 😊🌺
Thanks for checking out BTS. Black Swan is one of my favorite songs by the band. As someone that grew up in ballet, hip hop and jazz I'm always impressed with the level of talent this group has in many forms of dance. I never cared of contemporary as a child but as you said, now often you see it with more hip hop elements which is far more pleasing to my eye. The song's lyrics deal with the fear of losing passion for your art and how that would be a fate almost worse than death itself. I'm sure all true artists feel this way at some point. Anyways, I hope you watch the music video, it really highlight's Jimin's (blonde in the pony tail) contemporary art school training and is just visually stunning in many ways.
The dove at the end is part of the song they performed straight after Black Swan. It is called ON and the choreo is incredible and completely different from this one. Also MMA stands for Melon Music Awards. Your reaction was really interesting. I really hope you delve into BTS more, they are incredible performers and artists.
Fantastic reaction, love getting insights from dancers as you notice many performance elements that general audiences usually don't. Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts!
I think you might like the Black Swan art film video. The dance is not performed by BTS but by MN Dance Company. I really enjoyed your reaction. Hearing you describe and breakdown their moves and the techniques was so interesting.
The dove at the end led into the next song of that same performance, ON! ☺️ If you like stage design, I’d highly recommend watching their MMA 2020 performance in its entirety or watching their MMA 2019 performance! 2019 in particular is absolutely INSANE. Watching the whole of the 2020 performance will definitely help it make more sense though lol! Hope this helped somewhat! 💜
You’re so funny and cute! Thank you for watching our boys and for the genuine reaction! Loved this so much, hopefully you react to more BTS content, I and so many others would love to watch! 💜
Welcome to the BTS rabbit hole. Army (the BTS fandom) is like a pile of overly friendly golden retrievers. We adore the guys dancing they really push themselves and this was such a great performance. Enjoy if you keep checking it out.
This is one of my favorite BTS' performances and listening to your point of view as a dancer makes me appreciate it even more💜 I hope you can watch the official music video at some point and the behind the scenes of Jimin's scenes as well, I think you would enjoy it :)
First of all, I really love your reaction and the little edit comments that you include. So far you sound like a fun and amazing person! Your explanations and demonstrations make me want to try dancing even though I am a massive klutz and would probably break something or someone if I tried, lol. Second, instead of haunted the song sounds to me like I am listening to it from under water. I think the way the instrumentals are distorted like that and the way the member's voices don't sound as distinctly different as they usually do relates well to the lyrics though I don't know if it was all intended that way (though knowing BTS it probably was). Third (and last since this comment is getting long), you have given me even more appreciation for the dance in Black Swan. You've pointed some things out that I didn't notice before but now that you have mentioned and explained a few things, I can see what you were talking about like some of the sections with the switch between a more Hip Hop style to a more contemporary style that didn't stand out to me before. Thanks for taking the time to react! Subbed and going to take a look at more of your videos when I have the time!
If you keep reacting to BTS Music videos, live performances and dance practices I’ll be a subscriber. Love them and loved learning new things about the dancing they do from you. Well done.
1 - The video by Noshi called "A 2021 BTS GUIDE: learn to tell the members apart" is one of my favorites to learn the members individually both individually background and singing style & discography..... There are other really good ones... 2 - "This is BTS: introduction to BTS" by xCeleste. 3 - "An introduction to the 7 members of BTS (2021 update) " by Ida S
Oh my god I love that you mentioned Crystal Pite. I’ve seen one of the representations of The Statement and OH MY FUCKING GOD IT WAS AMAZING. Before that I had no idea it was a thing to dance without music.
That was live at an awards show. This is how their set started. There was more after. You still need to watch the official music video. You see alot more of Jimin and his beautiful moves (he's trained in cobtemporary). Also, there is a dance cover by a dance troupe that you, as a dancer, will most likely like. There's also video from their recent L.A. concerts which is very cool. Also dance practices are usually the choreography for a live stage performance, so there can be more or less in official movie videos. Did that make sense?
Loved your reaction! Please check out more of their dancing! Now I'm going to switch into maternal/teacher mode for a second here, sorry in advance, but... Please don't call yourself stupid and put yourself down, lovie. You seem to be a very bright, very talented young woman! Don't believe the negative self-talk! OK, I'll stop now. 😄💜 But yeah, loved your analysis, loved your reaction, and to quote Jimin, "You nice, keep going!"
You should watch the Behind the Scenes video for this performance. Dancing in water--yeah, they were scared about slipping and tried to be really careful. One of their worst fears is getting injured. I liked your reaction. Keep going!
K-Pop artists are called idols and MMA stand for Melon Music Awards. The hand movements at the beginning and end of this really makes this so very special. They mostly bring the one singing to the centre. Being able to sing and dance at the same time as they do is indeed impressive.
Thank you so very much for sharing technical analysis and artistic insights. I found your comments engaging and informative. Great reaction. Looking forward to seeing more. 💜
I would highly recommend watching the 2018 MMA performance-it highlights some of the dance line in solo more traditional dances, and the 2019 MMA performance, they all have solo performances depicting Greek mythology gods
So happy you liked this! Since you enjoyed black swan I think you’d enjoy this artist/dancer called The8. He does contemporary dancing along with many other styles and did a contemporary performance to his song Falling Down that is extremely beautiful. A little background on him if you do check it out, he is Chinese, real name Minghao, and a member of the kpop group Seventeen. He pretty much does everything from dancing, singing to rapping but he is part of the performance subunit of the group (Seventeen is split in 3 subunits, performance, hiphop, vocal). Falling down is his solo work but was done with another dancer whom I sadly no nothing about. Its a very beautiful piece which he states it being up to the viewers to decide the meaning of it. If you have time please give him a shot, you wouldn’t regret it! Also Seventeen is one of the top groups when it comes to dancing in kpop, they are 13 people and are all very synchronized, plus they are self produced, including choreo. They don’t really do contemporary, but they are extremely worth watching if ever your curious or have the time!
You should react to Taemin - IDEA he is one of the most famous soloists and dancers in kpop. It would be interesting for you to analyze the best kpop dancers. ex: Solo dance artists - Jimin(BTS), Kai (EXO), Taemin (Shinee) Hyunjin(Straykids) Lisa(Blackpink) etc..
I’m almost 2 minutes in, have not seen your reaction yet but I’m already in love with your personality lol. You’re also really gorgeous and as a dancer myself I know that kpop is going to make you very happy. Thanks for letting us join you on this journey. 🥰💜
the bird was gonna transition to the other song which had that bird hahahaha enjoyed your reaction 💜 hope to see more bts. bts is on a different level.
Please watch the official music video! I know you would appreciate the solo dancing Jimin does in it. Also, you're kind of adorable and I really enjoyed your reaction. :)
only 2 out of the 7 members had formal dance training prior to BTS. The rest developed their dancing after being signed on as trainees. One of the rappers almost quit the team solely because of dancing, he said it was exhausting him and when he first signed on, he was told he wouldn't have to dance 😆. He only wanted to rap and songwrite/produce, but he gradually learned how to like dancing and enjoy it, despite how grueling it was. Some of the best dance practice videos from BTS that are really popular are: Blood Sweat and Tears, Fire, Baepsae, Danger, On, Mic Drop, Idol, Gogo, and Dionysus MMA 2019 Dance Practice. Their oldest dance practice videos are also really cool: No More Dream, We Are Bulletproof Pt 2, Attack On BTS BTS members themselves name J-Hope as the best dancer of the group, he is also the lead dancer and helps with choreography. J-Hope was trained in hiphop dancing since a young age and won national awards for it at like 14 years old. He auditioned as a dancer, and started rapping after he joined BTS, also became a good vocalist. Here is a compilation of J-Hope's livestreams where he freestyles or does choreo for fans: ua-cam.com/video/_hShhQgrL2o/v-deo.html Jimin (blonde ponytail) was a top contemporary dancer at his school prior to being selected for BTS, he also specializes in popping. He is also very skilled in various forms of martial arts, he is a black belt in something. He also auditioned as a dancer, and started vocal training after joining BTS. BTS has a dance line sub-unit called 3J - it consists of J-Hope, Jimin and Jungkook, the 3 best dancers of the group. (their vocalist V was later added to the dance line, but there has been no 3J content with V yet so far). Here are some clips of 3J - 3J dance rehearsal/practice behind the scenes clip, they dance to Chris Brown and other songs. It's mostly hiphop style dancing, turn on the captions: ua-cam.com/video/ZVBciTIAUGs/v-deo.html 3J dance performance video, they dance to Megan Thee Stallion's verse in their Butter remix: ua-cam.com/video/IkeZX2hnoOk/v-deo.html Here's the behind the scenes for that same 3J Butter dance performance, turn on captions: ua-cam.com/video/O84fLDIU-T0/v-deo.html by the way, I like the name Flying Squirrel 😊. I like the way you edit and format your reactions!
I loved your analysis and explanations! 🥰 I think you've already been informed but the person you pointed out the extension and leg lift for is the main dancer of the group called Jimin. He trained for about 6 years in hip hop - popping and locking and won a bunch of regional competitions and then went on to study dance in high school. He initially had training in general dance fields for the first year - a little bit of everything : ballet, Korean traditional dance, etc. And then went on to specialize in contemporary dance. He only trained for about a year before he left to become a Kpop idol but he was was considered an incredible talent in his city and his teachers even tried to convince him not to leave because they felt the dance world would lose a great talent 😅 I find Jimin's dance style the most interesting to watch in BTS because like you mentioned he is super versatile and he also has extensive martial arts training which I feel like shows through in his dancing? It's super lovely to watch that mix of fluidity, grace and power. I feel like you'd enjoy Lie by him. It's a more interpretive dance? I'll leave links in the reply :D
Lie dance practice: ua-cam.com/video/IUhmH7Qqkso/v-deo.html Lie stage mix: ua-cam.com/video/Li1tqnc1N90/v-deo.html also feel like you might enjoy blood, sweat and tears, fake love and spring day
loved your reaction and all your input/explanations as i know nothing about dance besides the little ive learned by watching bts. bts is a 7 member group from south korea theyre not really kpop (its a long and nuanced convo that has many opinions but majority of bts fans and korean public along with bts themselves dont consider bts as kpop) bts do ALL genres of music many different styles of dance and they write and produce their own music so very often the lyrics and dance are tied together to tell whatever story theyre telling for that song as its based on their own experiences. theres 3 rappers and 4 vocalists all also have solo music along with the group music. i know you specialize in dance but maybe you can also react to the lyrics/music videos/performances too not just dance practices im not sure what you plan on doing but id love to see your reactions to the dances as well as the lyrics. doolsetbangtan site is our go to for bts lyrics but if you wanna use lyric videos use af taehyung, zaty farhani and dial 6137. NEVER use jaeguchi or lemoring they get the most views but are always wrong with the translations. for music videos use the CC button but if it says auto generated dont use it the captions wont be correct. :) to understand bts and korean music in general please also react to these videos itll help you understand so much more bts fans love long reactions so dont worry about videos being too long !! this is bts introduction to bts by xceleste bts hardships 2013 - 2021 by xceleste bts vs kpop by bbygangmag youre wrong about kpop by bbygangmag the media is wrong about kpop by bbygangmag kpop vs orientalism by bbygangmag bts : more than kpop by bbygangmag
Love your reaction and your style! 💖🥰👏 Please do more dance practice and performances! Only thing I would like to ask, is please have bigger text onscreen if you can...
13:16 I love that they added the sun and moon, because Jimin and Jungkook (the two that open the scene) str often called the Sun and Moon duo in Korea! 16:53 Ohh you should watch how high his leg can go, Jimin is super flexible and has actually kicked himself in the head accidentally while trying to sit down dramatically (he fell down the stool) hahaha and in IDOL (another BTS song) there's a round kick as part of the choreo and his leg sometimes goes past his head. 18:54 Oh boy hahaha that's Jimin! His dancing is very impressive! He did train in ballet, albeit very minimally and as part of his main focus, which was contemporary and that's what he mostly trained for during high school. He is "professionally" trained in contemporary, hip-hop and idol dance. Even the members have said that Black Swan is Jimin's song, that he embodies the black swan. Anygays, Jimin's dance style is unique and probably near impossible to replicate since its highly influenced by his 8+ years experience in martial arts + hiphop training. +idol training + his contemporary (and minimal ballet and Korean traditional) training. He does a lot of tricking and aerials you could see with his medialuna in the MV (which is a very dangerous movement to do, because you can easily overrotate and injure your ankles) and with his movements here twitter.com/pjmgem/status/1466261374355402757?s=20&t=u_YLlw3YOrAu5eb2FaijzA and here twitter.com/jikookheart/status/1465173437589110788?s=20&t=u_YLlw3YOrAu5eb2FaijzA (7:25) during the live performance, where he basically does a one-handed cartwheel to cover more space. Black Swan is one of my favourite songs from BTS!
This was super interesting, thank you! If you ever want to react to more bts, please do! There’s a behind the scenes video for the mma performance which shows them practicing and filming it if you’re interested in that. They don’t do much contemporary in general, a lot of the dances are a lot more hip hop inspired, but some dance-heavy performances might be ON at Jimmy Fallon Grand Central Station in new york (or the ON dance practice), the Spring Day performance at 2017 MMA (maybe their most contemporary after Black Swan?) or Idol live (my favourite performance is also jimmy fallon 2020). I found it really fun how you kept saying “whoomph” haha, I guess every dancer has their favourite onomatopoeia? BTS members always say “pa pa pa pa” when practicing 😂💜
The ending is actually not the end. The performance in total has 4 songs. I would really recommend you to watch the whole performance!! You'll be blown away! ua-cam.com/video/PtaP4UkZKyc/v-deo.html
she just spent a good four minutes trying to tell us that Jimin and Jungkook look great together 😂 hey, i just wanted to add that your reaction is amazing! it's so cool to hear things from a dancer's perspective and it's so interesting to see how you interpret the song and the choreography! i love your reaction, thanks so much for sharing it with us 💜
hi hi!!! I loved this technical analysis so much- it's v satisfying to hear from someone who knows what they're talking abt. if you're curious,, (no pressure!) I'd love to see your thoughts on other bts dances- both dance practices and actual MVs :)) suggestions: on kinetic manifesto, jimin 2019 MMA solo ((edit. every MMA 2019 solo honestly-- especially jimin, junkook, hoseok. just trust me)), fake love mv, bapsae dance practice edit no. 2::: hoseok (jhope) and jimin are our dancers. search either of those names + dance and you'll get gold I promise. jimin is contemporary kinG-- he went to an arts high school and competed in contemp (honestly just search jimin dance to see more). and hoseok is bts' dance leader- he learns everything asap and ends up teaching the dances to his members. search "hope on the street" and "jhope best dance" for more of him. lovelove hobi so much
saw this randomly on my recommended and really enjoyed your reaction! dw about if your explanations are boring i found them insightful (seeing as i know next to nothing about dance technique and etc) :D would love to see what you think about other "dance breaks" they have in their perfomances (most of them at award shows like the mmas). one of my personal favorites is the "mic drop" one they did at the 2017 mamas which i think has wayy more hip hop styling so if that's something you're interested by then i recommend the dance practice and the video they uploaded themselves with a mostly fixed camera ! links below so it's easy to find performance (warning for loud/fried audio): ua-cam.com/video/floMqK_yHf8/v-deo.html dance practice: ua-cam.com/video/eRkpkveBWyo/v-deo.html
Really nice reaction. Hint: here are many non-english watching, if you kindly kept yours texts longer on the screen we have little more time reading. Sorry my english
“KPop” means Korean pop..it’s basically pop songs. The artists are called “idols”, but they are essentially artists. I think ‘kpopers’ is more a term for the fans of kpop.
@@NightsStormCat kpop does not stand for korean pop lmao they are very different things kpop stands for korean popular music and koreans just shorten it to kpop but westerners and international fans mistake it for actual pop music. Idk if ur like a deep kpop fan but u can see that pop isnt the main genre in kpop here. Its usually hip hop tbh, not pop. And there are many genres linked into that like jazz rnb and soul etc. It has NOTHING to do w pop music.

Oh you gotta check out the thousand-hand bohisattva dance for another version of that Pite one :) it's stunning and it's performed by hearing impaired dance troupe!!
Oh my goodness, that you so much for the recommendation! I just watched it the video and it was so beautiful, what a wonderful dance by such an amazing group of artists
Very interesting reaction, enjoyed your explanations. Always love to hear from professionals in other fields commenting on BTS as they are so versatile and talented. They really know how to put on a show. In fact Army (fandom name) joke that at award shows it's a BTS concert that just happens to have an award show included! It would be nice to see your reaction to the MV to this song to see the final product as the MMA was an abbreviated performance. Also don't worry about long videos, we can watch 2+ hours of BTS content, believe me! Just show the Hybe/BigHit logo at the beginning of the MV (& always watch to the very end) so there's no worry re copyright etc. they love reactors. It’s a very different dance style but they do a lot of ‘manipulation’ in their choreography for their song I’m Fine, which I’ve always though was really cool, didn’t know it had an actually name till now
The bird at the end was part of the transition into the next song for the performance but since this video cuts off after one song it seems abrupt but that is why... I hope you check out the official music video and the art film as others have suggested....and perhaps another performance where they are also singing becasue this one was very different from those in order to fit into a longer performance with more songs.
BTS' producers play a lot with spatial tricks, if you use headphones, or a good set of speakers, you'll hear the different instruments and voices coming from all over the place. Laptops may not have great speakers, but it's probably enough to make you feel like there is something behind your door
@@margaretpughdance Just a heads up, his hair is blue in the music video 😊
@@margaretpughdance Jimin is also the person being lifted in the mma performance!

@@MrsNiaboo2000 You sound mighty pressed. Sad.

Thank U
We always welcome new ARMY, too. ;-)
I suggest you enlarge those footnotes so they are easier to read. We are excellent subtitle readers, but that font makes it a bit difficult for older eyes. You might reference Cedric Gegel's use. He's got it down. Plus, among all his other specialties, he's a former dancer!
@@flyushkifly DITTO! 😁 I was even going to make the same technical feedback, 😂 "Great minds..!."💜
@@WonderingWildWanderingRose exxxxcellent! We are on the same wavelength. hehe
You just saved me a lot of typing. Well said. 😄👍
Seconded.
The guy who you pointed out lifted his leg high, Jimin, actually did study modern/contemporary dance before joining BTS and he was one of the top students in the department!
Wasn't it Jungkook the one she was talking about? He was the one lifting his leg in the freeze frame.
@@1marieleathem no lo es

@@stellam.3949 Yep. My bad. It was Jimin!!! Sorry!
As someone who has done and edited a few reaction videos but never uploaded them, I can tell you put a lot of work and effort into this video so I really appreciate this! :) And also I always love to see commentary on their dances because I also do ballet so I love to hear other peoples reaction to these. It's so nice to see and hear people notice these small things that not a lot of people might not see.
just hearing the vocabulary you use just makes me happy :)
And okay, that frisbee hand motion thingy you said with hand momentum was 10/10, huh that's a nice way to think of the movements. Sometimes I have a difficult with continuing the movements before the next step to kind of bind them together so I might have to try and think of flying a frisbee next time😂
"It's such a flfflflfthhthfff fluid thing" you're such a MOOD 😁 thank you for the reaction!
I love how you are not only reacting but also analyzing and offering your perspective as a dancer. I learned a lot!
The fact that each "hwhoom" throughout the video had a different meaning and feel to it... Impressive.
Yay! New vocab, "hwom!" "Fwoop!" added to the language of "Pah!"😂💜
Technical feedback: if you could leave your subtitles up a bit longer, straighten and thicken the font used, it would be much appreciated and easier to read.
It was really enjoyable hearing your thoughts on their dance : ) please do more it's so great!
I was looking for this comment…! I could definitely hear Jhope in dance teacher mode counting out the Bap Bap BAP Bap! 😂💜
i watched a lot of reactions of this dance pratice and performance but yours is definitely one of my favorites 💜 i love all your explanations, it was really nice to hear. please continue with the reactions to them, i think you'll be surprised. thank u for the reaction 💜💜
They are doing a 4 show concert in Las Vegas in April, at the Allegiant Stadium. You should try to get tickets. Their concerts are an experience.
I appreciate your insights as a dancer. BTS never fails to impress, whether it's dancers, singers, songwriters, producers, rappers, or muggles. There is no one like them. Never has been and never will be again.
omg your perspective made me think of the details that are so important in dance as well. thank you so much i would love to see more :)
loved your reaction! it was full of amazing commentary and it was so nice to hear you explain everything, interesting and detailed and v engaging!! sending hugs
Great reaction! I think you would definitely enjoy watching the choreography for their songs “Blood, Sweat, and Tears” and “Fake Love.”
The eclipse performance was so gorgeous and a wonderful payoff for something they set up the previous year with Jungkook and Jimin’s solo dances. I definitely recommend their solo performances from 2019 MMA (I mean I recommend their whole 40 minute set from that year because it’s iconic 😂)
Also another great live performance of Black Swan happened at the Tonight Show in 2020.
Borahae! 💜
@@ruthfischer7615 Excellent. I had thought that too about the Fake Love reference being marionettes but hadn't seen anyone else mention it.
Hi I really enjoyed your technical analysis, and the funny commentary + sound effects are golden 😂 would love to see more 💜
I think you might like the Black Swan art film video. The dance is not performed by BTS but by MN Dance Company.
I really enjoyed your reaction. Hearing you describe and breakdown their moves and the techniques was so interesting.
Wow, you are so good at explaining it. I enjoyed your explanation
I love your demonstration! It really helped me to understand what u were explaining.💜
Welcome to the BTS rabbit hole. Army (the BTS fandom) is like a pile of overly friendly golden retrievers. We adore the guys dancing they really push themselves and this was such a great performance. Enjoy if you keep checking it out.
I absolutely love this definition of ARMY !
This is one of my favorite BTS' performances and listening to your point of view as a dancer makes me appreciate it even more💜
I hope you can watch the official music video at some point and the behind the scenes of Jimin's scenes as well, I think you would enjoy it :)
Your voice is very calming 💕
And thank you for reacting.
If it isn't too much can u react to the music video too? Thanks again

The MMA Black Swan performance in water was NOT filmed nor performed live. There is a behind the scenes Bangtan Bomb showing how all this was done.
I enjoyed your reaction. You are funny! Please react to more BTS. Your energy is infectious.
2 minutes in and I’m already in love with you. 😆 I really hope we get to follow your ARMY journey 💜
Oh, and this is my favorite live performance of Black Swan, from Jimmy Fallon's "BTS Week" series: ua-cam.com/video/g1-sFn-j5D0/v-deo.html
You should watch the Behind the Scenes video for this performance. Dancing in water--yeah, they were scared about slipping and tried to be really careful. One of their worst fears is getting injured.
I liked your reaction. Keep going!
i love hearing you talk about dance i can tell how passionate you are about it
K-Pop artists are called idols and MMA stand for Melon Music Awards. The hand movements at the beginning and end of this really makes this so very special. They mostly bring the one singing to the centre. Being able to sing and dance at the same time as they do is indeed impressive.

You have to react to their 2019 MMA

Also, you're kind of adorable and I really enjoyed your reaction. :)
only 2 out of the 7 members had formal dance training prior to BTS. The rest developed their dancing after being signed on as trainees. One of the rappers almost quit the team solely because of dancing, he said it was exhausting him and when he first signed on, he was told he wouldn't have to dance 😆. He only wanted to rap and songwrite/produce, but he gradually learned how to like dancing and enjoy it, despite how grueling it was.
Some of the best dance practice videos from BTS that are really popular are:
Blood Sweat and Tears, Fire, Baepsae, Danger, On, Mic Drop, Idol, Gogo, and Dionysus MMA 2019 Dance Practice.
Their oldest dance practice videos are also really cool: No More Dream, We Are Bulletproof Pt 2, Attack On BTS
BTS members themselves name J-Hope as the best dancer of the group, he is also the lead dancer and helps with choreography. J-Hope was trained in hiphop dancing since a young age and won national awards for it at like 14 years old. He auditioned as a dancer, and started rapping after he joined BTS, also became a good vocalist. Here is a compilation of J-Hope's livestreams where he freestyles or does choreo for fans:

Jimin (blonde ponytail) was a top contemporary dancer at his school prior to being selected for BTS, he also specializes in popping.
Here are some clips of 3J -

by the way, I like the name Flying Squirrel 😊. I like the way you edit and format your reactions!
Love the gasps cuz same. Their sets are stunning.
I'll leave links in the reply :D

loved your reaction and all your input/explanations as i know nothing about dance besides the little ive learned by watching bts.
bts is a 7 member group from south korea theyre not really kpop (its a long and nuanced convo that has many opinions but majority of bts fans and korean public along with bts themselves dont consider bts as kpop)
bts do ALL genres of music many different styles of dance and they write and produce their own music so very often the lyrics and dance are tied together to tell whatever story theyre telling for that song as its based on their own experiences.
theres 3 rappers and 4 vocalists all also have solo music along with the group music.
i know you specialize in dance but maybe you can also react to the lyrics/music videos/performances too not just dance practices im not sure what you plan on doing but id love to see your reactions to the dances as well as the lyrics. doolsetbangtan site is our go to for bts lyrics but if you wanna use lyric videos use af taehyung, zaty farhani and dial 6137. NEVER use jaeguchi or lemoring they get the most views but are always wrong with the translations. for music videos use the CC button but if it says auto generated dont use it the captions wont be correct. :)
to understand bts and korean music in general please also react to these videos itll help you understand so much more bts fans love long reactions so dont worry about videos being too long !!

Please do more dance practice and performances!
You will love jimin in a few videos... great reaction btw !! Love your knowlegde
The ending is actually not the end. The performance in total has 4 songs. I would really recommend you to watch the whole performance!! You'll be blown away! ua-cam.com/video/PtaP4UkZKyc/v-deo.html
After your “ca-caw!” in the intro, I have to subscribe…
MMA = mixed martial arts only to non-kpoppers. 😭😂😂 💜
she just spent a good four minutes trying to tell us that Jimin and Jungkook look great together 😂
hey, i just wanted to add that your reaction is amazing! it's so cool to hear things from a dancer's perspective and it's so interesting to see how you interpret the song and the choreography! i love your reaction, thanks so much for sharing it with us 💜
hi hi!!! I loved this technical analysis so much- it's v satisfying to hear from someone who knows what they're talking abt. if you're curious,, (no pressure!) I'd love to see your thoughts on other bts dances- both dance practices and actual MVs :))
suggestions: on kinetic manifesto, jimin 2019 MMA solo ((edit. every MMA 2019 solo honestly-- especially jimin, junkook, hoseok. just trust me)), fake love mv, bapsae dance practice
edit no. 2::: hoseok (jhope) and jimin are our dancers. search either of those names + dance and you'll get gold I promise. jimin is contemporary kinG-- he went to an arts high school and competed in contemp (honestly just search jimin dance to see more). and hoseok is bts' dance leader- he learns everything asap and ends up teaching the dances to his members. search "hope on the street" and "jhope best dance" for more of him. lovelove hobi so much
saw this randomly on my recommended and really enjoyed your reaction! dw about if your explanations are boring i found them insightful (seeing as i know next to nothing about dance technique and etc) :D
would love to see what you think about other "dance breaks" they have in their perfomances (most of them at award shows like the mmas). one of my personal favorites is the "mic drop" one they did at the 2017 mamas which i think has wayy more hip hop styling so if that's something you're interested by then i recommend the dance practice and the video they uploaded themselves with a mostly fixed camera !

Thanks for letting me know! I figured kpopers was probably not correct lol
Kpop is not Korean pop music, but music that is popular.Kpop includes rock,hiphop,rap,electronic...
@@bianconera Kpop does include rock, hiphop and so on but pop music stands for popular music so kpop is korean pop because it is popular in korea

Love watching reactions and welcome to ARMY, sadly I won't stick around because I enjoy watching the reaction a lot more than the explaining lol, but lots of ARMY enjoy that too, much love to you 💜💜
the guy who raised his leg is like really flexible, splits in both ways and everything haha
Oh you gotta check out the thousand-hand bohisattva dance for another version of that Pite one :) it's stunning and it's performed by hearing impaired dance troupe!!
Oh my goodness, that you so much for the recommendation! I just watched it the video and it was so beautiful, what a wonderful dance by such an amazing group of artists
jimin doing contemporary dance too
I will definitely do that!
Everytime you praised JUNGKOOK 😭 yes he is intense, his gaze and presence.
This was very interesting, totally agree about every movement being crafted. Hope you’ll check out more, they have lots of interesting choreos :)

Looking forward to more! 👍👍
The dove at the end ties into the next song, which featured a dove in the video.
The dove at the end leads into the next performance "ON" which has a dove in the music video.
