- Join us on an exciting adventure as we attempt to bring a barn find Lotus Elite back to life after 10 years of being untouched. In this video, we'll take you through the process of restoring this classic beauty, step by step.
Watch as we carefully inspect the car, clean it up, and attempt to start the engine for the first time in a decade. Will it start, or will it be a complete bust? You'll have to watch and find out!
Along the way, we'll share tips and tricks for restoring old cars, and talk about the challenges and rewards of working on classic vehicles. We'll also take you on a tour of the car's history and talk about its unique features and design.
The 1975 Lotus Elite was a two-door sports car produced by Lotus Cars from 1974 to 1982. It was designed by Colin Chapman and was aimed at the luxury sports car market.
The car was known for its innovative styling, featuring a wedge-shaped body design that was ahead of its time. It was also the first Lotus car to feature a fibreglass monocoque body, which made it lighter and more fuel-efficient than previous models.
Under the hood, the 1975 Lotus Elite was powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that produced up to 160 horsepower, which allowed it to reach a top speed of around 130 mph. It was also fitted with a five-speed manual transmission and had a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout.
The 1975 Lotus Elite was considered to be a high-end luxury sports car and was popular among car enthusiasts for its unique design and impressive performance. However, due to the high cost of production and low sales, only around 2,000 units were produced during its eight-year production run.
Today, the 1975 Lotus Elite remains a popular choice among collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate its innovative design and significant place in automotive history.
Whether you're a car enthusiast or simply love the thrill of a good restoration project, this video is for you. So sit back, grab some popcorn, and join us on this exciting journey as we attempt to revive a forgotten classic. Great 70's paint job, love the black pinstriped sides, good find too, they went on sale January 1975 so an early one!
I remember seeing an Elite on display when they first came out. It was at that time the most expensive 4 cyl car , most other performance cars being 6 or 8 cylinders.
I was surprised at the time that the engine was in the front as I was driving a Europa and expected Lotus to continue that way.
You guys are great. Love your excitement
So happy I recently found your channel after dearly missing the sick puppy videos
the new content is awesome
keep up the great work Cody
Cheers mate appreciate it 😊
Don't know if anyone else has mentioned but the black Lotus bonnet badge was put on when Graham Hill was killed in an air crash in 1975, they did the same thing and put on a black badge for Jim Clark when he died at Hockenhiem in 1968.
Love the resto videos mate!! The old Stromberg side draught carbies! They can be a bugger, but if you can make sure all the diaphragms are ok your should be good! Congrats mate 🤙🏻
Thanks mate
I love resto videos, keep it up! (What a sweet find too!)
More to come!
Bloody good job, bob!
Got that battery with the go handle!
Looks like an excellent get away car for James Bond.
that car is so sick looking !
Ye old twin Stromberg CD175 carbs. I had fun times with mine on my old 1973 Volvo.
Check the rubber diaphragm seal on the carbs, also check that the carbs have Damper oil.
Have fun mate!.
Thanks for the tips! I just got a ultrasonic cleaner to give em a good clean and show em some love
I guess one could be mistaken about the DEF control. Defroster, not Diesel exhaust fluid.
I would say this should have round headlight. A friend had one that was 10 years old when he got it, with round lights and not a great deal had been done to it. Be a nice car once its scrubber and serviced.👍👍
Another great vid love it , what’s next on the cards
Just picked up a Porsche. What model? You will have to wait and see. Unless you have me on Insta
Thats funky cool , I dig it.
I know the old owner of that car. Was in Ravenshoe and went to Babinda then the a hotel owner in Ravenswood brought it.
My dream car
You serious? She’s for sale so the dream could come true yet

A bit disappointed there was no bottle of whisky and some suss frangas like the El Camino.. Shit not even a teapot and a stiff upper lip! Jokes aside though - thanks for the vid! The thing will be pretty nice if you can get her rolling :)

@@sickpuppycody Noice.

Remember you need to put oil in those carburetors
Ah the good old hand winch that's rough
Was a long run
Great job guys! Is it just st me or does that Lotus look like a Ford Pinto? Lol

Some pop up headlights ran on a vacuum system.
Correct these ones are the same
LOTUS...lots of trouble usually serious.....lol.. I had a 503 (air con) 1974 elite back in 1987 the only car i lost my shirt on.I still have the full workshop manual
I can't get over how much this Lotus looks like the AMC Pacer I had back in the seventies. With the exception of the obvious body style differences, it look like the Pacer if it where stuck in a mold, squeezed, and this car popped out.
Is it still for sale?
It sort of needs a set of mad max tanks in the back or a flux capacitor between the seats 😂
That's my 10mm, can you ship it back to Canada for me. 😁
Dude it has a cigar lighter in it not just a ciggy. Gonna have to smoke a celebratory cigar when you get it all nice 😂
I didn’t even notice that. Yes 💯
Trade for 2 XD Falcon's?
I would leave it there for another ten
It’s so ugly it’s beautiful!! Nice work mate!!
Need to take you for a drive
@@sickpuppycody your on!
We have a saying in England, loads of trouble usually serious.
looks like the head gaskets gone
GodDamn I didn't know that was u let's GOOOO Cody
where in aus?
North Queensland
Definitely needs to be LS swapped Cody 😂
Still for sale? Interested
Yep send me a email sickpuppycody@gmail.com
Dam it's ugly BUT I love the back seats
Worst thing is they ain’t as comfortable as they look
THAT is one weird car! Lotus was making cars that looked almost like kit cars at that point. LOL. Reminds me of the Canadian Bricklin From the 1970's.
They were making kit cars
What ya gona dowith it ?
Sell it hopefully
If anyone's genuinely interested in a 504 elite that needs a fair bit of TLC message me.
I’m interested. Location? How much?
The amount of white smoke from the tail pipe.. your burning water.. 100 to 1 headgasket has failed.
She was full of ATF
Then you got really lucky. Btw .. that car alone explains why AMERICAN'S didn't see LOTUS vehicles imported .. it looks cool.. BUT DAMM.
What happend to the name of channel was bout to delete it thinking sone random shit on my list 😅
Don’t do that mate it’s me
