I think a lot of our mothers have said something along the lines of “i can’t wait till you have a kid so you can experience…” I think it comes from a place of what they think is “care” from them not being able to communicate with us, or understand our experiences. In their eyes we’re giving them a hard time and they don’t know how to navigate these situations so they’re handled wrongly, and as a result these hurtful things are said. But in reality I think they mean “you’ll understand why I’m doing xyz when you’re in this similar predicament with your own child.” Lack of communication and perspective! I hope that made sense. Rlly enjoyed this episode!
Mrs Dayton seems like a lovely person and a wonderful mother. I loved this conversation, however, as we get older we will appreciate our mothers. We have to be careful we don’t seem ungrateful especially when you say you’re setting “boundaries” for your mom. Bayleigh just be careful. I get Swaggy taking you to Puerto Rico and Dubai to reside, but still, never let anyone distance you from your extended family. Family is very important. You have your beautiful little family, but never forget your extended family. You have children now, what goes around comes around. I’m 40 years old, married for 18 years with a fabulous spouse and 2 beautiful kids. My mother never knew how to let me grow up and still struggles. I now understand as my kids are getting older. As far as being a grandparent ..they are all different with their grand-babies, their role is not to be strict or be their parents, their role is to be adorning to their grand-babies. So, it will be a different experience when they have grandbabies. Also, she should never apologize for being your parent, from what I see she was amazing. Her grace and tolerance was on display during this interview. Blessings to you both.
I can't tell you both how much this podcast has helped me. I'm going through the transition with my 21 yo daughter. This really opened my eyes to my role and how to navigate this in a way i can understand her. GREAT CONVERSATION!! Please do more of these Mother Daughter convos. It really is life changing when you learn through others, who are willing to be so open and truthful about the reality of the relationship
I freaking love this conversation. This is a mature eye opening convo between mom and daughter. And its a real human experience like she said. I appreciate this dialougue. I have a lot more to say but at the same time if you get it. You get it. This was beautiful. Great job Bay and Mom Dayton!❤
That was great! I sent to my mother because of our many challenges of my being her adult child with children. Every mom and daughter duo needs to watch this and have these healthy conversations . Way to go Bay!
I adore your mom! She is a very wise woman, and I can see where you get your intelligence from. She speaks well and I love how she listens to you now, even though that might not have been the case before when she treated you more like a child. I have a mom who is similar to her, and I know they can be difficult because, to them, you will always be their baby no matter what. That always comes first. Therefore, the fact that your mom learned to respect your boundaries is really impressive. I know it was probably a struggle for her, and you might not even know what it took for her to get there. Just like you were asking if you were her friend or her daughter, your mom might have been wondering the same thing. For her, you were her daughter all her life, and suddenly, she had to adjust to the fact that you didn't need her in the same way anymore. Nobody prepares mothers for that sudden shift either. Anyway, you two should have more conversations like this. You should be further along in the UA-cam algorithm, as this video should be suggested more often. It was a brilliant conversation!
This is such an amazing and beautiful conversation. Thank you both for sharing. As an overprotective mom of a 15 year old daughter, I'm sure I will experience this at some point. Hopefully, we'll be able to navigate as beautifully as you both have. 🥰❤️🥰
I want to hear more about this “I love myself” and how your mom got to that point. It’s not normal to hear, but especially not from women. Me personally I love it 😂 took me til 28/29 to get to that point & now I think I get on my mom’s nerves with it. But I also want to hear how that translated to you & your sisters. Did any of you pick up that same trait? It’s interesting that you have only sisters. Kind of reminds me of Deion. We all know how he feels about himself and I’m glad he had sons to pass that down to.
First, Such a good episode! Your mom gave off big Scorpio energy and when you said she's Problem/Solution based I knew. I understand her. So heyyyy Scorpio "Queen!" Second, it's not easy being a child of a Scorpio mom. We have very high standards, do not allow excuses and we make living life look badass because we don't show lots of emotions. We hold them in and put them back into loving on ourselves more. Like Leo's we truly love ourselves and majority of times sacrifice ourselves for our children. But one thing's for sure, we love hard and are loyal to the core. Third, I too had to learn how to process better, understand I cannot expect my kids to navigate and execute things like me and I fall back when needed. And having a grand baby gives me another chance to be better and softer. Sending both of you much love.💗💓
Wow thanks for sharing this. It’s hard or challenging talking about things like this with my mom and she’s a Scorpio also lol…I hope one day eventually we can have some tlks to clear some emotions and have a better innerstandings and relationship, with one another.
Bottom line is we’re lucky to have mothers who love us, because believe it or not, not all mothers love their children. They do the best they can, and mistakes are inevitable. As children we resent authority, so our parents are usually the ones painted as the bad guy. Love this podcast, great topic.

It’s definitely difficult as a mother not to be solution based! We want to fix it and move on! This is a learning curve!

Looking to start a channel and can’t find editor.
