This is so cool! Would you be able to do a video like this for the Wii too? I want to get an M2 Mac mini to run Dolphin Emulator for Wii games, but I just have no idea where to start
I have one in the works for wii and gamecube that's partially done. It's more tedious than the PlayStation as the wii requires actual hardware and I didn't like my explanation. Now that it's been a few months I should revisit it with fresh eyes as I want these to be as deep as possible in the shortest amount of time without overburdening the viewer. Basically, explain the really important stuff and leave off the esoteric.
So I tried Dolphin on my M1 Pro MacBook Pro, and I can play a couple games that don't really require a precise Wii remote, but in the controller settings I wasn't able to connect a real Wii remote to my computer, despite it showing up in the Bluetooth settings-it asked for a passcode, and despite everything I read on the internet, I could never give the right one. That being said, I'd still love to figure out how to connect a real Wii remote to play games like Wii Sports Resort, and even a real balance board too. And I think I'll get an M3 Mac mini whenever they come out, although given Apple's focus on other platforms besides the Mac (that poor iMac!), I doubt we'll see that until at least spring 2024, and maybe even later in the year.
Is this even worth trying on a rMBP Mid-2014 2.8GHz/Nvidia GT 750M 2GB? Do the GPU's in this machine tend to fail? I just picked it up recently and don't want to kill it. It ran a couple PCSX2 games ok.
My gut says it probably wouldn’t play well but no clue how well optimized this emulator is right at this point as I’ve never tried it in windows as a comparison point and it’s unclear if there’ll any wild optimizations in the future like adding native metal support I haven’t heard anything about that model and gpu failures.
