it's not that surprising, before people get on board with slavery they need to not see the one's their enslaving as human, calling them lazy was a way to de-humanize them and get people on board with slavery
There are people who debate whether Jesus was white or black and when I point out that he lived 15 centuries prior to the creation of the concept of white and black people they are shocked to find this out. In the time of Jesus a person's race was based on what language they spoke- not what they looked like. People are also surprised to learn that Israel is in Asia (but of course continents are a social construct also and people argue about how many continents there are).

@@Koloviv48i "Black" is a racial category (created five centuries ago). Human skin tones range from very light brown to very dark brown. All humans alive today descended from the same woman in Africa. Jesus lived fifteen centuries before there was any such thing as "black" and "white" races.
It’s not as simple as that that’s what they used to think in the 1500s when slavery started but thanks to genetic testing we know that that’s not true.

Listen Muhammad Ali, when a human dies and their skeletal remains are found there are always three distinct skeletal remains of what we know to be Homo Sapien Sapien. I am 60 years old with a university education, grew up in a very politically liberal family and have black friends and relatives. Yet it was only a few years ago when i read a few books on human genetics that I first learned that race was cultural rather than biological. Now it seems obvious to me and the evidence of it is overwhelming and consistent. There are two things I never knew growing up and was never taught in school but should have been at an early age. Number one: race is a social construct. Number two: all maps are inaccurate because there is no way to faithfully show a three dimensional object on a two dimensional surface.

So, my skin produces less melanin than that of an African person, not due to a genetic difference but because the sun doesn't shine so strongly here where I live. That is, if I migrate to the tropics and the African guy to the Arctic my skin will become black brown and his pink white. Propaganda at its dammest!
You are of course right, you will not become black, there is a much tighter theory than the equatorial location to skin complexion being taught. Black people will stay black no matter where they are, something else caused the creation of recessive genes.
@@skyking3210 I disagree. Black people only got dark because we lived in a region that fostered this need. If we all moved to Alaska, we would over time get lighter. It may take about ten thousand years but it would happen over time. The black people of the Melanesian islands are a perfect example of why this is so. Genes change over time and depending on the region we live in, they adapt to the environment for protection as well as for survival.

Bruh. There are genes that determine your skin color. Race has nothing to do with genes. Its the Same Like Hair or eye color. If the Parents have Blue eyes. The Child will also have Blue eyes. If both are light Skinned then the Child will have light skin.
It exists the way beauty does- it is subjective. It does not exist in biology. If it were biological you could test for a person's race by looking at their DNA. You can't- even the companies that use DNA to tell customers about their ancestries point that out to customers. I can't tell from a persons DNA whether a third person will consider them to be white, black or something else. It's like being tall. I can know your exact height but that can't tell me whether a third person will consider you tall or not because tallness (unlike height) is subjective.

False. Race is a real thing expressed in the genes but it is empowered by cultural and geographical factors for the most. Not all societies evolved equally. There are definitely distinct racio-ethnic-groups and a definite sense of blackness (not least because of the distinct experiences of racism historically-directed towards black people specifically) but calling white people “white” hasn’t sat too-well with me of late. It would be a fallacy to pretend that we’re all exactly-the same (and there are biological differences beyond skin-complexion per se) but I feel like the division’s over-accentuated by people at times and you get black people who are so anti-white that they see them all as incipient Karens and Harleys and would rather not work/associate with them and I do understand where that comes from (especially if you’ve experienced a lot of racial trauma) but some of the division/passive hostility (I won’t call it reverse-hostility because that would just-be stupid and ‘disproportionate’) in general just seems to go a bit too-far. It’s a tricky one.
The point is that the concept of race is a social construct and is very arbitrary. Different societies defines race differently and these definitions changes depending on the time and individual.

Africans are more genetically diverse than the rest of the world combined, and yet they frequently get lumped together as "black". In other words, these racial categorizations are not a result of "science" but of social/cultural reason.
There are variations in colour, bone structure, etc. for sure, but what I've learned so far it's caused by very small number of genes, it just strikes our eyes the most because it's on the surface. The real variability lies inside and doesn't correlate with "races" much.

Language is a social construct, does that make it any less of a reality? Even if race was entirely a social construct, what is the problem if some people identify as one thing, and some as another? Just as some people speak one language and some speak another. The only difference in this anology though is that the evidence for race is staring you right in the eyes whereas language is but a sound in your ear.

As I said, even if race is entirely social, the historical and modern record provides the evidence that humans identify themselves in groups based on their physical characteristics. A nation is an extended family based on shared ancestry I.E blood ties. The word Nation has lost its meaning in the modern multiracial societies we find ourselves in within the Western world. The inconvenient truth is that there is a biological/racial hierarchy in the human species. In terms of intelligence, conscientiousness, behavior, etc races (on average) differ drastically in these measurements on a genetic level. That is the reason for different outcomes. But the poor, impulsive, and irrational will always be the majority as the intelligent, wise, and temperate will always be the few. The poor, impulsive, irrational group is much easier to persuade and influence, that is why the western world caters to those groups politically. Anyone who opposes such belief is deemed evil, hateful, etc. which is the best way to formulate public opinion to support an ideology.
Never seen a study suggest that intelligence differs by race and for good reason because races do not exist this makes the rest of your example also meaningless. Populations exist race however isn’t a biological classifications and genetically makes no sense. What you said about difference in genetics being fairly large is also false. All humans regardless of location are 99.9% identical genetically.

Overt manifestations of racism may have been recent in history but its presence in the sub-conscious part of the humans is considerably an old phenomenon. Edward Said's Orientalism traces its representation in the European texts over the centuries. Before that, the interaction of the humans from different continents was minimal which explains the scarcity of the evidence of its presence in the earlier eras. The fact that in the modern world almost all people are mixed, it does not change the fact that humans evolved in different races. Stop this nonsense. Of course there are races. Just like dog breeds are very different from each other and we can call those a different races from the same Species. We are the same species but not necessairly the same race. A pitbull and a chihuahua are more different than a Chinese and and Sub-saharan African but the dogs can have races we don't? there are genetically more types of black Africans than every other croup combined. You are just looking at people and making them fit into spaces that were developed before you were thought of.
All humans originated in Africa. And we all look different. But our ancestors mixed at some point and those genes can be pulled onto the next generation at any given time. People having the same physical characteristics, doesn’t mean that they are part of the same race of people. There are a lot of races. that have dark skin and coarse hair with no recent ancestors from Africa. Europeans used to have dark skin 8000 years ago because they originated in Africa too. People looking alike, has nothing to do with them being related. That’s what society used to think but thanks to genetic testing we know that that is not true.

However other people groups who look alike are fairly related. Black Andaman Islanders for instance are more kin to Asians than they are to Africans. Race is subjective- just as the categories are. They differ over time and by location. The US Census changes the race categories offered to choose from every time they conduct it. The 2020 Census offered fourteen choices for race (none of which was Hispanic/ Latino). People get confused by the newspapers and other media stories about the changing racial demographics of the USA. The articles talk about the portion of Americans that are white but if you read carefully you often find that they really mean non- hispanic whites rather than whites in total.
Well races exist, stop nonsense mostly race is not based on skin colour but, but face structure and body structure. It is much more complicated that skin colour.

IMO black and white are not ethnicities. these are only colors. Ethnicity is Slavic or Bantu or Anglosaxon or Malay, or Cherokee. But modern nations are like USA - with many ethnic groups of different colors grouped together under one law and citizenry. thats how I see it :)
You're right Daisy. His methods are separation in many forms. From the fictional races, denominations, political parties, even sports teams of all things, etc. It's so much easier to treat others as human beings if you come to the knowledge that we are literally all apart of the same family from one man and one woman. Even more so that by one man we can all be saved. And that one man told us to love one another and not harm another. Even unbelievers. The whole idea of race really comes down to humans being hard wired to notice facial features that they are less familiar with. Like yes certain features are more common in certain geographical regions. But the features are not universal to the group.

Listen Muhammad Ali, when a human dies and their skeletal remains are found there are always three distinct skeletal remains of what we know to be Homo Sapien Sapien. And that is Caucasian, Oriental and Negroid. This is also determined by scientific genetic testing of dna markers. I am 60 years old with a university education, grew up in a very politically liberal family and have black friends and relatives. Yet it was only a few years ago when i read a few books on human genetics that I first learned that race was cultural rather than biological. Now it seems obvious to me and the evidence of it is overwhelming and consistent. There are two things I never knew growing up and was never taught in school but should have been at an early age. Number one: race is a social construct. Number two: all maps are inaccurate because there is no way to faithfully show a three dimensional object on a two dimensional surface.
I'd say the evidence is actually overwhelming the other way around.

It may take about ten thousand years but it would happen over time. The black people of the Melanesian islands are a perfect example of why this is so. You can't- even the companies that use DNA to tell customers about their ancestries point that out to customers. There are definitely distinct racio-ethnic-groups and a definite sense of blackness (not least because of the distinct experiences of racism historically-directed towards black people specifically) but calling white people “white” hasn’t sat too-well with me of late. It would be a fallacy to pretend that we’re all exactly-the same (and there are biological differences beyond skin-complexion per se) but I feel like the division’s over-accentuated by people at times and you get black people who are so anti-white that they see them all as incipient Karens and Harleys and would rather not work/associate with them and I do understand where that comes from (especially if you’ve experienced a lot of racial trauma) but some of the division/passive hostility (I won’t call it reverse-hostility because that would just-be stupid and ‘disproportionate’) in general just seems to go a bit too-far. It’s a tricky one.
The point is that the concept of race is a social construct and is very arbitrary. Different societies defines race differently and these definitions changes depending on the time and individual.

Language is a social construct, does that make it any less of a reality? Even if race was entirely a social construct, what is the problem if some people identify as one thing, and some as another? Just as some people speak one language and some speak another. The inconvenient truth is that there is a biological/racial hierarchy in the human species. In terms of intelligence, conscientiousness, behavior, etc races (on average) differ drastically in these measurements on a genetic level. That is the reason for different outcomes. But the poor, impulsive, and irrational will always be the majority as the intelligent, wise, and temperate will always be the few. The poor, impulsive, irrational group is much easier to persuade and influence, that is why the western world caters to those groups politically. Humans made up the idea of race, even if the phenotypes for skin tones exist. Please understand what a social construct is, and how they work, because its obvious you dont.
For example, money is a social construct. That must be baffling for you, but once you figure that out you can figure out race.
The fact that in the modern world almost all people are mixed, it does not change the fact that humans evolved in different races. Stop this nonsense. Of course there are races. Just like dog breeds are very different from each other and we can call those a different races from the same Species. We are the same species but not necessairly the same race. A pitbull and a chihuahua are more different than a Chinese and and Sub-saharan African but the dogs can have races we don't? We all have the same value but different people evolved differently indifferent parts of the world and that is a race, period.

there are genetically more types of black Africans than every other croup combined. You are just looking at people and making them fit into spaces that were developed before you were thought of.
All humans originated in Africa. And we all look different. But our ancestors mixed at some point and those genes can be pulled onto the next generation at any given time. People having the same physical characteristics, doesn’t mean that they are part of the same race of people. There are a lot of races. that have dark skin and coarse hair with no recent ancestors from Africa. Europeans used to have dark skin 8000 years ago because they originated in Africa too. People looking alike, has nothing to do with them being related. That’s what society used to think but thanks to genetic testing we know that that is not true.
@@Undergroundgossip besides people we consider black what you say is not true. There are black people who are more separated from Africa than non black peoples. However other people groups who look alike are fairly related. Black Andaman Islanders for instance are more kin to Asians than they are to Africans. However all Asian groups genetically are very similar.

Dark skin and coarse hair does not mean someone has ancestry from Africa. Asian people can have course hair and dark skin. So so-called Black people does not own that physical trait. Other so called races can have dark skin.

Race is subjective- just as the categories are. They differ over time and by location. The US Census changes the race categories offered to choose from every time they conduct it. The 2020 Census offered fourteen choices for race (none of which was Hispanic/ Latino). People get confused by the newspapers and other media stories about the changing racial demographics of the USA. The articles talk about the portion of Americans that are white but if you read carefully you often find that they really mean non- hispanic whites rather than whites in total.
All distinct categories exist on a spectrum.

Well races exist, stop nonsense mostly race is not based on skin colour but, but face structure and body structure. It is much more complicated that skin colour.
Give an example of a structure that is exclusive to one racial group.

If there is no race then why all those videos about black ppl taking pride in other black ppl (and not other American citizens of whatever color) or thinking that there is no European culture (white culture) ? Race is not significant thing IMO, I'd rather see people as parts of USA or Europe.

Many blk Americans have a quarter + European ancestry and I don’t blame ppl who don’t know anyone so blame it on slavery of course but many know at least a great grandparent, which imo I thought y not accept it because how can u guess at that point. Overall many ppl mixed but In America, but that’s our race view on blk and u have ppl mixed with indigenous with background from Mexico, and identify as their nationality as a race, so it’s always a argument based on who’s considered mixed or not and what culture u have. See how the logic pretty much blk is tainted with west African and unless u directly from a white or Asian parent then u blk. I’m just showing the confusion in the logic of ppl who say it’s one drop rules and apparently everyone is all these races. Me personally who of course is blk by race view, I would have my kids accept their mix and understand it’s a social construct and y we say blk(if my lady is in the blk box/remember anyone even with a white parent automatically labeled as blk box).

"Black" is also an ethnicity. European culture is not racial, it's ethnic. Race and ethnicity are not the same thing.
IMO black and white are not ethnicities. these are only colors. Ethnicity is Slavic or Bantu or Anglosaxon or Malay, or Cherokee. But modern nations are like USA - with many ethnic groups of different colors grouped together under one law and citizenry. thats how I see it :)

You're right Daisy. His methods are separation in many forms. From the fictional races, denominations, political parties, even sports teams of all things, etc.
It's so much easier to treat others as human beings if you come to the knowledge that we are literally all apart of the same family from one man and one woman. Even more so that by one man we can all be saved. And that one man told us to love one another and not harm another. Even unbelievers.
(sadly many people think the catholic church is "christian" and will quickly point to the crusades as if Jesus approved of it).

The whole idea of race really comes down to humans being hard wired to notice facial features that they are less familiar with. Like yes certain features are more common in certain geographical regions. But the features are not universal to the group.
Your DNA is what determines what you look like. not where you were born.
