Doing a re-hab on what had been an un-playable 45 dollar orphan guitar last night. Haven't owned or even picked up a guitar in 9 yrs. 4 weeks ago bought one. This re-hab is the second, i got a week ago, intended to be my Nashville-strung one. One of the songs I played on it last night was Wild Horses. So first time going thru it in years. And more sweetly. In standard. Learned open-D years ago. Didn't start playing open-G till 3 wks ago. I''m partial toward standard for Horses, but I'll give it a play in open-G. One variation of the Cmaj (and/or Dmaj) you might consider.... don't use your index finger over all 5 strings .Instead, use your middle finger on 5th string 5th fret, ring on 4th string 5th fret, and pinky on 2nd string 5th fret. Play 3rd and 1st string open. (What is it?... dunno... Cmaj9th?... is there such a critter?...) I like using that on Sheryl Crowe's 'If it makes you happy' if I'm doing that in open-G... see if you don't like it.
Love your lessons. Just discovered this one. So fun and you always explain things so clearly. You never show-off or patronize. Best guitar song teacher on youtube.
OMG, Angela, you are are so awesome in the way you explain songs. Hands down the best instructor. Trust me, I've seen plenty on UA-cam. You're a hidden gem. You're humorous, articulate and charming.
So now I have two of my favorite Keith songs to work on. This one and Honky Tonk Women. I have been playing off and on for many years and sometimes get a mental block on certain changes in some songs that I have not worked accurately into my muscle memory. The pace and repetition in your lesson style is just what I need to defeat those mental errors. Thank you for posting these. I should add that your obvious love and appreciation of this music comes through loud and clear and contributes greatly to the lesson overall
So glad I tripped over this lesson while working on Open G tuning! I am totally in love with your training method! You are awesome in the way you project your knowledge with enthusiasm! You have a 64 year old admirer!
Thank you for the lessons that is helping me out I have damage to my left hand three fingers and following your core progressions has given me the ability to regain some of my emotion in my left hand can't thank you enough
My dream guitar? That would be my Dad’s old Gibson acoustic 6-string. It’s not an extremely valuable guitar, but it’s part of my memory and connection to Dad. I sold it to a Guitar Center in Keizer Oregon a few years ago, to help fund a world-changing invention I’ve been working on. Glad to say, the invention is coming along nicely. If and when I start making money from the thing, I hope to track down that guitar and buy it back. But everything is in God’s hands. If He will allow me to change the world, it’ll happen. Best wishes to you all. And thank you to the beautiful young lady for making this video.
Brett out of Oklahoma City. playing a Martin triple oh twelve E. I’ve got to say I’ve been playing guitar 35 years and have not advanced much or learned too many new songs lately You make it really easy and clear what you’re doing when you are demoing a song for retention . I was always afraid of open tunings, and I decided to give it a go with you on my very’s first song which was black Crowes she talks to Angels. By the time I got through the end of your video, I had most basic parts down and just had to work on the finger intricacies . Wild horses has always been a favorite acoustic song of mine and now I can break it out any time at the campfire and dazzle onlookers . I’ve learned so many songs with you. I think I’m going to have to become a patron. Such a talented, young lady . So glad I subscribe to your channel Angela.
This has always been one one of my favorite tunes!!! And hands down my favorite Stones tune. My Brother, who can play anything and everything - in standard tuning, used to play this - in standard tuning. And although he played all the right cords, something seemed not quite right. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. And, as a critique of you teaching, you could teach a 3 year old to play this as well as Keith. Sorry Keith, no slight intended, just a commentary on this excellent lesson.
i just figured out why your lessons do so much more for me,, it is because you explain the feeling behind the song,, the thoughts the guitarist is feeling,, beautiful,, just beautiful,,
Gotta say, your teaching style is on point! I've done a lot of UA-cam learning etc. and so far yours is the most accessible, especially for someone trying to play these songs solo. So far I've learned this one and Over the Hills and far Away. I did convertOver the Hills into open G, and made it a bit of a slide tune, but learning the standard version fist through your lesson is what made it possible. Thanks again for the great content!
I live the way you go through the tune slowly and so clearly, I really enjoyed the lesson and love the sound of the open G tuning! I’m a guitar player who loves the Beatles music but my second favorite band is The Stones. Thank you, you’re a great guitar player!
Wow. This by far the best instructor I have come across as a beginner for the past 20 years! Great instruction, great breakdown, great pace, great passion, and great song. Talk about a motivational instructor! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your encouragement, I'm 72, I haven't much natural talent but I've been thumping on a guitar since was 12. I'll take your advise and practice new cords slowly till it gets easy
I love your lesson style. I have been playing for 30 plus years and there is always something to learn. Tuning in from Tarpon Springs, FL and dream guitar is an original 1961 Strat. Keep up the great lessons. Scott
I just picked up playing again after all these years. I have a 44 year old Yamaha, a tenor ‘67 Gibson; and having an index finger injury on my left hand years ago; I just finished building a 5 string neck from the body back dreadnaught for open G tuning that Keith would be proud of. 😆Love your teaching vids. Best regards, Steve. 😉

So easy on the eyes and ears. Thank you so much for the riff starting around the 25 minute mark . Stripped is my favorite version and this I believe is Keith's lick around the 30 second mark. Yours is the first/only lesson I found to include this in detail, so thanks. BTW I just pre-ordered a OOO-17 Whiskey sunset burst from sweetwater partially due to you.

I'm in seattle.
my dream guitar would be an old acoustic Martin .
I've played this song in the past but never tried it in an open tuning.
Great lesson on great song.
Hi Angela, I think I've seen you before on here , Angus Young ACDC is famous for making faces as he played stretching his tiny fingers but excellent indeed... my 50 year old Fender doesn't like standard tuning so this would be the proper way to tune it , makes it really come alive....
Thank you, you're a blessing.
I play Martin, 000-28 and a D-16. They are my dream guitars though I'd love a McPherson.
WOW WOW WOW!!! Such a great lesson!!!
Lorida, Florida. Any pre-war Martin mahogany guitar and probably, a 1959 Gibson Les Paul/1952 Fender Telecaster. Really enjoy your playing, Angela!!!😁😎👍🎸🎶🎵
