Tom Hiddleston on Whether Loki Will Ever Get a Love Interest & How Kenneth Branagh Changed His Life

- With director Kate Herron’s Loki getting ready to start streaming on Disney+ later this week, the other day I landed an exclusive interview with Tom Hiddleston to talk about the Marvel series. As most of you know from the trailers, Loki takes place after the God of Mischief has stolen the Tesseract (again) due to the events of Avengers: Endgame, and an alternate version of the character is brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority to give him a choice: either be erased from existence or help fix the timeline. In addition to Hiddleston, the show co-stars Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Lexus Renslayer alongside Sophia Di Martino, Richard E. Grant, Sasha Lane, and Erika Coleman.
During the interview, Hiddleston talked about how Kenneth Branagh changed his life by casting him as Loki, whether Loki will ever get a love interest, some of the people that don’t get enough credit for helping to make a series like Loki, if he has plans to direct, his favorite London theater to perform in, and more. In addition, we talked about the chances of a Loki Season 2.
Finally, I was able to watch the first two episodes of Loki before doing interviews and am happy to report they’re fantastic. Obviously Hiddleston is still perfect in the role, but what I loved most about the series is the way the series is expanding the MCU in a new direction and setting up what’s to come in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness regarding the multiverse. Trust me, if you’re a fan of the MCU and Loki, you’re going to love these episodes.

British grammar and American grammar aren’t identical. In American English, double negatives were considered incorrect. But people use them all the time, so I don’t know if the rule is changing. Tom uses double negatives because he’s British. He apologizes because he’s talking to an American, and he knows the American rule. But I suspect he’s the only person who has ever made such an apology.

Every time i watch Tom's interview i keep falling in love with him again and again. One thing i love about him is that he remembers things from many years ago, its so impressive that he can actually remember it and its really important u should remember so the other person feels appreciative.

My feelings precisely. I'm personally not too keen on the idea- especially if they try and go the "Oh lets throw a women at him to magically fix his issues" route. That said, there will probably be a lot of great footage for future manips if there is so I won't be upset either way.

Actually loki is Genderfluid in the comics so I hope they show that in the new upcoming show. He was so said to be Pansexual but I don’t know if that is confirmed. And I believe star lord was confirmed in the comics to be bisexual as well, so I hope we get to see quill more open with that in the new Thor love and thunder movie.

Anyways, I'm not sure about what you've just said, I'll have to do more research, but the main sagas I've read don't really show loki having any proper romance with anyone other than sigyn and angrboda.
But yeah he does have the ability to shape shift into anything he wishes, and when he does he becomes whatever he turns into.
So yeah technically if he shape shifts into a woman, he'd become a woman fully. Now,as a woman seducing men. That makes lady loki straight. It's a confusing aspect.

Plus, I don't think Pansexuality is portrayed in media very often, and many people still don't believe it's even real, so thats why I want him to be pan. But Bisexual is good, too. The couple of individuals in the comics that he mentions are Sigyn, Leah and Verity. Well and Lorelei a bit but that's a frenemy with benefits kinda situation. I'm definitely hoping we'll see Loki and Sigyn because they're my OTP and secondly because their story is so complicated and beautiful. She's the only being that he ever truly loved, quoting by the comics.

I do understand what you mean; the problem is that (at least from what I remember but anyone correct me if I'm wrong) not even in the comics did Loki have a male love interest. The MCU mostly uses the comics as the source for its films, so it's most likely that if Loki ever has a major relationship is going to be with a famous lover of his, like Sigyn.
But anyway, I think there can be space for both options! It would be amazing to have Loki with a male love interest ^^

@@rpmaluleke you mean when did those characters get mentioned by Loki? Or when did they get mentioned by Tom? In the comics Loki meets Verity and Leah in his newest arcs and he is particularly attached to Leah, he really has a sweet relationship with her. Sigyn is much older, appearing way back during the storyline. Tom didn't specifically mention them but he has always said that the films follow the comics as closely as possible, so when he says "there's a couple of characters that manage to get close to him in the comics", Sigyn, Leah and Verity must be the ones.

My question was about Tom, if he'd mentioned them specifically. I dont know what they intend to do on the show I know what I want, but I see many shooting down a character that has a connection to Loki emotionally as well as romantically in comics as well as mythology just because it's hetero. He's had plenty of relationships but only a handful (if not one) significant relationships and if they intend to give him a love interest(s), I would love for Sigyn to be involved. There's a deep connection there that's long been discarded.

Tom Hiddleston is so great at interviews! He is so calm and put together and is very articulate. He also seems to be genuinely interested in the questions, and answering them to the best of his ability without giving too much away.
His humility is astounding.
I found myself thinking how, on another person, his constant gratitude etc., could be perceived as ...Idk, insufferable ?? I guess lol. But Tom Hiddleston just seems so genuine and sincere about all his sentiments, and he approaches playing Loki with all the seriousness and gravitas usually afforded to more classical characters. Perhaps characters from all those plays he mentioned.
Then again, I know virtually nothing about acting so this could be a common trait actors have that I simply didn't know about before, but he really is marvelous in the role and his attitude towards the whole thing is refreshing as well.

Yeah... In the comics it wasn't a very good thing. If they go that route, with this loki, he really does need a lot more growing, healing and acceptance, as Tom said. So they could use her character in a better way. But who's to say 🤷🏻
Of course the MCU actors don’t have to watch everything but I really appreciate the ones that do. You can tell he loves it and has fun.

I just want everyone to know that in an interview with jimmy kimmel, tom said he was in costume playing loki when he turned 40 years old. I checked to see when they finished filming the show and they finished way before his birthday. He's certainly not done and I think he LOVES his character. I do to. #LLL (long live loki)
