Kallstrom Sweet Corn here in Eastern Washington . Yes ground preparation is a MUST . We use a Kenco plastic layer , we deep rip , disk , then chisel at least 2 or more times to prepare ground for plastic laying . Soft well worked ground IS A MUST .
Do you have any issue with mice/rodents chewing your drip tape once laid? Do you use any baits/traps to keep rodent pressure down? Thank you in advance
hey do you not use a rototiller at all? I usually will spray/disc cover crops in moinths before planting my garlic field, then rototill 1-2 times before planting, the soil turns out super fluffly and no clots, helps dry out soil a bit if it's been wet.
We have mostly sandy loam soil, so a tiller isn't something we really need. I'm not a big fan of tillers because they aerate the soil and cause your organic matter to break down faster.
I am getting ready to order a bed maker was going to go with the rainflo actually going to order this week. Do you Like yours? If you did it all over again would you buy the same one or go with a different brand? I will be using it to lay lavender bed's.
I love mine, it's a good piece of equipment. The only thing I'd change is I wish I'd gotten the crowned bed instead of flat. Water stands on the flat bed.
As a new famer, this information is golden , binge watching now. Thank you for your service.
