I understand the price of variants. You have to commission an artist, they have to do extra work because it also needs to be "animated", etc. These borders? I can make them in Photoshop in 10 minutes tops. 2 once I made one and just need to recolor it. This costs nothing. You can commission a hundred of those for the price of one commissioned artwork.
What if... instead of offering those useless borders, they would've offered us the chance to get every single variant of every single card you got in your collection. So we don't have to be waiting ages to see the variant you want or need in the store. Making it a bit more simple for us to go on with our album collection.
There are games like clash royale where you have to upgrade cards to make them competitive and it is a never ending process, but unlike that if marvel snap is making cosmetics expensive, I see nothing wrong with it. It is not a necessity like acquiring cards.
When i first seen it, i absolutely liked the borders, they are giving us much more options to customize our cards and make them look cooler. Sure they don't go for all cards, but then again, having that option is pretty cool I was shocked to later find out that its only per card. Imagine how long its gonna take to do all cards. Imagine f2p. I understand sd wants to make people continue to play this game, but like, this is not the way. When i look at their business model, i feel like they are using the long term approach where they set any highprice, wait it out long enough so people buy it eventually for the price they have set. Like a first time trader mentality. Rather than making 25 dollars out of 25 people giving 1 dollar, they'd rather go the route of 25 dollands for 1 person. Is it a good approach? Depends. if you have the resources to wait it out for that long then sure. else you don't see the benefit of making it cheaper and selling out more stuff.
If Snap's monetization was purely for cosmetics only I would be so on board with that. New card acquisition is horrible in my opinion. I skipped Red Hulk, and now all the top decks are running Red Hulk. When they changed the amount of tokens you get in cache's it's like 3-4 months to save up as FTP to buy one card (minus keys). I can play other FTP games and get the entire experience and play with friends at little to no cost. It feels bad man.
this is the same issue I'm facing in terms of getting new cards. All the cards I've decided to or missed out on due to being too busy to grind out the game - are now in a majority of the decks. I just recently was able to finally get Jeff and Nico Minoru but I'm still missing Annihilus, Blob, Red Hulk, Corvus etc and the majority of these cards I'm missing is all that anyone plays. I'm definitely not spending insane amounts of money just to get collector's tokens and get them either. Kind of sucks the fun out of deck building and playing when the divide keeps growing on card acquisiition

Riot doesn't give new champions out for free. why would marvel snap give the cards out for free? that said, you can grind and grind and grind to buy new characters with I'm game currency on league of legends. so we need a better way to grind for cards that isn't locked behind timed missions and weekly rewards. if someone wants to play marvel snap for 10 hours straight just to unlock 1 card. LET THEM! idk why that's a problem. greed I guess :c
It’s cosmetic, it has no impact on the gameplay experience. I think this is a cool addition even tho I prob will never buy any borders. This is exactly what they need to be monetizing so that other stuff doesn’t need to be monetized (more). But yes card acquisition mid game is rough, but end game I have 22 caches and love my collection as well and only buy the season pass. So I really don’t see the complaints about them monetizing cosmetics like every other game on the planet nowadays
They are monetizing everything excessively! That is the problem! There is no trade-off. The complaints are because we see how greedy Second Dinner is. The game could be so much better than it is but they keep siphoning money off people instead of improving the game. Its still a hellish grindfest, they just included more gambling to it. And people like you refuse to complain at all until the game actually shuts down and SD takes everyones money and goes their separate ways.

Snaps monentization is downright outrageous, but, the only effing problem with micro transaction games is that idiots spend loads of money on them, dont give them your money so easily..

Crazy monetization, which I wouldnt mind if they made it easier to get base cards you want. If gold and tokens were at a higher acquisition rate too. I love cosmetics. But the pricing is excessive, without the trade-off of not making the game a gambling grind-fest, with bugs galore and a lack of new game features.
i dont feel too bad about the borders. theyre clearly meant for whales amd for dolphins who want specific cards or 1 full deck they really love, with matching premium borders. ill be buying gold for my Artgerm loki because i have gold bg with green krackle. so its perfect. ill pay 10$ for loki. but i dont think ill be buying these premium borders for any other cards. but loki works because wuen you transform your hand, the new cards keep all the same effects of your loki. so well worth i think 😂 idk. with some variants costing 25$, borders costing 5-10$ for a SINGLE card (and its variants) feels real bad (but i will buy for loki) i mean emotes are 30$ 🥴 they really want to live off the whales it seems
locking features past enormous paywalls is gross. The only reason it happens is because people in the past accepted it. Its bad enough they release every card with horrible eduardo mello/ ryan kinnard art that you have to by a variant 7/12$ upgrade if you don't want to look at that garbage.

People are hitting rank Infinite and winning Infinity borders in Conquest without spending a single $ in this game. Where is the pay the win? Pay to win is to pay real money in order to win because you can't do it otherwise. I know people who spend hundreds of dollars and can't even hit rank 100 lol.
I got the green for my Loki. Looks great. Better than spending gold on another shitty Dan Hipp album variant. The idea that youd get the border for every card is silly. You dont get every artgerm, or inkpulp variant if you buy one in the shop. ts a way to put some drip on your favorte cards. I dont buy any gold. Its only worth real money if you spend real money
