I have always pulled off the spent daffodil blooms because I do not like the way they look. But this is my first year growing muscari and I have not cut off the spent blooms because I like the way they look. I’m going out right now to trim off the blooms. Thanks for sharing this information.
My mom always braided the foliage after deadheading the flowers, that way their flowerbeds stays a little bit tidier while they’re dying back and then of course when they’re completely brown she would just trim everything To the ground
Hey there Nancy! I meant to talk about this in the video! Thanks for the reminder! Because the idea is for the leaves to photosynthesise, the more surface area exposed the better….so say the experts I found on the internet. It also makes sense in my mind. So although braiding is common, it’s not recommended. That said…how much does it matter? And also, if I braid and leave the leaves longer then when they are a floppy mess…more photosynthesis occurs! It’s def a pros and cons game! 😂
@@PowertotheFlower That makes perfect sense. Here I am worried about the tidiness of the garden and the reality is sometimes messiness serves a purpose. God’s design is the best.
Thank you, this is really helpful. I'm a 23-year-old gardener starting out in Arkansas, so daffodil care is immensely helpful!
