Sadly thats one of the negatives of any major infrastructure project, the area will look like hell on earth until completion and probs a few months after it is done.
People mourn road needs updating thay start updating and people still mourn lets here your engineering skills and suggest to these multi million pound companys that you got a better idea while sitting on your chair sipping tea and doing nothing
I did not make this it's just a reupload, and I'm not currently an engineer, but I do have ideas for active travel provisions and public transport improvements such as reinstatement of rail services, trams, buses and cycle infrastructure, if I had my way I would of built the M4 relief road by now
And Google maps itself has been updated however the street view was being updated each month but it has now been at least over 8 months since the last update
Construction is already underway plus, we're lucky to get this one considering the Welsh government just scrapped all road project, and the last motorway being planned was the M4 relief road which was scrapped in 2019 as soon as Mr drakeford stepped into power
I think you will find it is more than adding a hard shoulder, which itself adds millions of pounds of cost in extra land. Motorways cannot climb as steep hills or have as sharp a corners as a dual carrigeway. Junctions also have to be differnet in layout, it all costs massive extra amounts. Then there is non motorway traffic that has to be given an altenative route which means building extra roads as well as the motorway. A bit more than an extra lane needed.
Yes I totally agree with you, and if you want to build a motorway, as well as specs you also need to submit an application to the UK government to allow the special road classification, that take a while, this can be shown by the A14 in Cambridge, the road almost became a motorway but due to the need of it opening asap the application was withdrawn and therefore opened as a high quality but not quite motorway expressway.
@@fastdamo again England is not a cheap country if you’re talking about “millions of pounds”. I am pretty sure if they want to invest it properly they can which they are adamant not to. Take a good look at netherlands infrastructure. Densely populated but with perfect road/rail system unlike ours where 75% is directed to go london. My opinion is that UK overall can have much good motorways planned rather increasing trunk roads.
This new rd layout, is going to increse congestion around merthyr tydfil, especially for traffic heading to Swansea rd area and retail centre, people living at thè top of Beacon heights and castle park area, not much thought gone into it, old swansea old Gellideg area, will become gridlock.
So to get to the hospital or upper industrial estate from the Tredegar side, you now have to travel right down to the Cardiff-Brecon road. Then double back through the upper town. How the heck is that an improvement?
@@kevdavies3445 no point in complaining now, construction has been underway since 2021 and it's nearing completion, besides WAG stated that it's only going ahead because the relief road in Newport didn't
Was driving through there yesterday. Looked like hell on earth, pure dystopia. Poor people of Merthyr ...
Road building is not for everyone, but the people of Merthyr were wanting the scheme ever since it's conception in the 90s
@@UK.RoadsCyclingandTransport well that's a positive at least. Great vids 👍you do

Dowlais top is currently a shocker!
I'm going up there within the next month or so, they've done a lot up there I've heard
Great film👍

and still on dust tracks in mid wales
Driving through the valleys, is now a nightmare. Sat Navs just can't handle the constant changes and you're going around in a big circle.

I just cannot understand why the bigger interest in trunk roads. This road could be best upgraded to a Motorway. 💁🏽♂️
Just add a hard shoulder.

The design has changed slightly since 2018, I won't know exactly what it'll look like until completion
