I’ve got different books for different genres, but Komi Can’t Communicate, Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle and JJK got me back into reading manga so I’ll give credit where credit is due there in terms of ongoing series. That’s the beauty of manga though; there’s something for everyone, regardless of what you like. Manga is for everyone.
Can’t wait to see Sakamoto Days in this list. Genuinely think the potential for this series is something else. Amazing pacing, wonderful vast and the world is expanding like crazy.
As I've got older and read more manga, it's become harder to enjoy new stories like I use to, but Sakamoto Days brings me back to how much I use to enjoy it. Dorohedoro and Chainsaw Man are two others that has me enjoying manga a lot. Jujutsu Kaisen an example of I've just read too much manga to enjoy that one as much; it's not bad but if you've read Bleach, HxH, and Naruto, it's very mid but would have loved it if new to manga
I've read one piece when I was younger. Around 2010. I must have read around the first 30 volumes maybe a bit less. I am very happy to anounce that I started picking up the manga, I've got the east blue and alabasta arc already. But I will continue till the end! It might take a while but I will complete this collection :) Thanks for this video, very interesting and wel done as always!
when you talk about one piece it’s true, it truly is one of the greatest pieces of fiction out there. oda is one of the hardest working mangakas taking hardly any breaks during the past 20+ years making the series. he deserves the world♥️
I watched the anime and i got to like the crocodile arc or whatever his name was. And i couldnt stand it no more, when does it get good in your opinion. I kinda want to collect it because i know it gets better
@@widepeepohappy820 As someone that had never really gotten into manga/anime until recently, one piece was the first one I tried and I loved it from the first episode. Some people say either arlong park or alabasta (the one you'd be on currently) usually hook everyone, but if you're not hooked yet, the next big arc that seems to get everyone hooked is water 7/enies lobby which comes at about the 200 episode mark. Maybe One Piece just isn't for you but if you wanna give it a shot, try hang in there till Water 7/enies lobby, which some people consider the best arc.
@@widepeepohappy820 well it's good from the start imo, maybe it's just not for you, around 400eps/500chs it became my favorite series of all time, if you still have the energy, will to get into one piece then plz do so it's one of those series which i think everyone should experience, maybe check out the anime it's great till 500eps or you can check out 'one pace' which is a fan made version which cuts out all the fillers and is loyal to the manga panel for panel so One pace is like watching the anime

i don't read a ton of ongoing manga (usually the ongoing stuff i read is manhwa) but my favorite ongoing manga is yona of the dawn ☺️ i would be so excited if you even just read the first volume, it's fantastic! i feel like lots of people don't consider it because it is technically a shoujo manga but after the first chapter it gets more fantasy/action/political-fantasy based. if you like strong female leads and historical fantasy stuff definitely give it a shot. i'm glad you mentioned komi, i've read the first two volumes after my friends recommended it to me and i'm really enjoying it 😌
One of the high points of my year was finishing Pandora Hearts after so much time has passed since it ended. It became my favorite manga of all time and I felt so happy to finally honour Mochizuki-sensei work. Shes a big inspiration to me since I was in High School. Her art is beautiful, her script and story line is so complex and intricate. On the begging it starts pretty simple, but as the story goes on it just kept getting better and better to the point I was so heartbroken that it ended that I cried a little upon reading the last page. Another series that I have been always interest in because I love Sakura Card Captors since I was I kid was Tsubasa Chronicles. I finally got to experience to the fullest last year and it was fantastic. Everytime I think about how good it was I have an urge to read it all over again. The history is solid and gives time to you and the characters solve the mystery together. The art is fenomenal with highly detailed backgrounds and scenarios and seeing them all being more developed is such a treat. I loved it so much. I hope CLAMP gets to finally finishing xxxHOLIC too because is also mixes with Tsubasa as well.
Excluding the ones on your list, I'm enjoying Sousou no Frieren , Blue Lock, Dandadan and it's early, but I'm liking Yomi no Tsugai , the new work from Arakawa (I know these don't follow your rules for your top10, but I recommend all)
Yomi no Tsugai is good so far, but with only 2 chapters, hard to get a feel yet. Have you been reading Arslan? (Arakawa’s other ongoing series) Been really enjoying it.
the “problem” with one piece for most people is it’s length, and it was the main issue with me for the longest time. but after picking it up, i can safely say it’s one of if not the best anime/manga i’ve seen
i'll add another one (i've just read the manga up to V30). The start. it's so slow, and boring. Now don't tell me i'm being corny, but like i've tried reading the first 300 chapters, but i just can't get in further after reading nearly a third (Yes!) of the series. It's just impossible. And that's the reason why i find the ppl who like the series usually started it as their first anime/manga, while others who have already been reading other things wont necessairly like it. I mean my favorite mangas are usually those dark, mature mangas about character devellopement. The most "childish" & light-hearted (Lol) series are something like Jojo's or oshi no ko. So my point is mainly " The more mangas u'll read, the less u'll like one piece" Sorry for this very long essay, but yes op sucks.
I'm personally really loving Fire Force even though it's ending soon, I don't think it gets enough credit tbh for how great it is. I'm also really enjoying Ghost Reaper Girl, Kaiju No.8 and Spy X Family. Really great list, I guess I gotta check out Dai Dark, it's the only one on this list I haven't read yet.
My list would probably look something like this (in no particular order): Vinland Saga, Black Clover, and Komi Can’t Communicate. If I include the finished series that I read/started then I’d also throw in The Promised Neverland and FullMetal Alchemist, since I read and collected both this year. For my first year of reading manga, I think I’ve done pretty well for myself xD

Houseki no kuni/Land of the Lustrous is quite literally my favorite manga of all time,, Haruko Ichikawa is so detailed in her paneling and her charcaterizations and the relationships she builds with her characters are so intertwined. I feel like she has Hajime Isayama levels of detail in her writing and is even better. Highly recommend,,
Curious given they don’t seem necessarily up your alley but I respect your opinion a lot and at least one meets this list requirements… Komi being in this list is the only reason I even ask honestly: 1) My Dress-Up Darling: anime just started. Caught up on the manga and literally obsessed. Generally not a fan of fan-service, but it’s actually justified (mostly) in this series. Story and romance is amazing though imo. Currently ongoing. 2) Horimiya. Still new to manga collecting, and it’s technically completed (in Japan, but not English), but this is my favorite manga for sure to this point. Haven’t seen you mention this one in any prior videos so I’d absolutely love to hear your thoughts on it.
I would love to see a review or some type of video on Planetes. There’s so much in that manga and I felt like I was able to take away the main message of it, but I feel like your analysis would do it so much more justice than my own.

Wild, One Punch is my #1 fav manga. You should deff check out "Dandadan" though its made by one of fujimoto's former assistants that helped him on Chainsaw Man & Fire Punch. The artwork is phenomenal and character designs are really cool
I don’t have a top ten but Jujutsu Kaisen, SpyxFamily, and Mashle are really good. Also I’ve recently started collecting the One Piece 3 in 1s wish me luck with trying to find all of them
Series I’ve enjoyed in 2021 (no particular order): - Happiness - Livingstone - Astra Lost In Space - Stravaganza Each offered me a different experience in terms of storytelling and character development. They might not be top contenders but are definitely worth a read. *These series are complete, not ongoing*
Golden Kamuy is awesome! I still need to catch up but it is easily in my top ten favorite manga. Great characters, story and art. Definitely a underrated series that needs more love.
I just want to say, I've been collecting manga for way over a decade and always love your ongoing manga list and recommendations. Got into Komi Can't communicate, Golden Kamuy, Vinland Saga, and To Your Eternity because of one of your recommended videos (maybe 2 years ago?) and love those series. To Your eternity I think has a nice arc going on, just a weird blend of high school life wasn't expected. Thanks for putting these videos out, will definitely check out Blood on the Tracks(great Bob Dylan song)and finally will get around to picking up Real, just still a little salty about Inoue not touching on Vagabond haha.
Was kinda hoping to see Undead Unluck on this list for 2021, as it was my Manga of the year, but I'll definitely keep a mental note of all these series I'm not already reading
@@M3g4UBERn00b yeah what His Royal Highness said, the beginning of the series is not a good representation of what the series is really about and its easily my 2nd favorite ongoing manga in Jump rn behind One Piece. I've also gotten a deeper appreciation with the extras that are in the volumes I've bought too, definitely recommend staying with it till chapter 9 at minimum and to be more fair about chapter 20, though it only gets better each subsequent arc
If you love MHA you should read the spin off Vigilantes, it's sooo good and has so much character development from the older heroes and some really awesome new characters
Appreciate the MHA love :) I agree Murata’s art is absolutely incredible but I believe Horikoshi has some of the best *weekly* manga art, it’s incredible what he puts out!! It makes me wonder what his art would look like if he were writing a monthly series

BNHA is the superhero story of my dreams and I think it is magnificent but I am not saying that BNHA is the best superhero story, that depends on each person. I love Invincible and I still have to watch the Boys, it has been pending for a long time.

I’m new to manga but I was able to pick up box set 4 of one piece. Now just trying to find 1-3. And I have vol. 1&2 of Vinland Saga on the way. Currently reading Mobile Suit Gundam Origins and Blade of the Immortal and enjoying both!
2021 is the year I started reading Manga. It started with 3 series I always wanted to read. Akira, Battle Angel and Ghost in the Shell. And it’s blossomed into other series such as Berserk, Helsing, Dragon Ball Super, My Hero and Demon Slayer. This year I’ll be adding dozens more to that list. But as I’m new and haven’t read through a lot of what I bought. I can’t make a top ten list.
Other than what have been mentioned, my favorite ongoing manga is Sakamoto's Days and Dandadan!, and I've just caught up with JJK, and it's really caught me off guard by how great and insanely good the story is
I can't blame you for putting One Piece at number one. Like you, it's one of the few ongoing manga I regularly keep up with. It's always been a constant in my life. The current arc has been solid. Some of the most entertaining stuff I've read from the series in a long while(Especially compared to Dressrosa). In general, One Piece has its problems but I still very much respect/ love Oda's work. And I look forward to keep experiencing this series until its ending.
My Top 10 (following your rules and in no particular order because ranking things is hard lol): Fire Force, Golden Kamuy, One Piece, Dandadan, Kaiju No. 8, Tokyo Revengers, Sakamoto Days, Kengan Omega, Four Knights of the Apocalypse, and My Hero Academia. It's hard not to put REAL and Vinland Saga on here but like you said I tend to forget a little how much I love them in-between releases haha
Top ongoing manga series of 2021 in no particular order for me were blue box, dandadan, sakamoto days, Kaiju no 8, and kingdom. A lot of these series were just a breath of fresh and didn’t have any real low points during the year. Top 3 ongoing webtoons from 2021: 1)kubera: one last god 2) purple hyacinth 3) the girl from random chatting (random chat)
I literally just started Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction like a week ago and just now caught up. As a fan of PunPun I absolutely love it and I am sad to hear its ending soon

I LOVED your comments on one piece. I used to watch one piece back in the day(2010-2015) but eventually dropped because it is too long. I was around dressrosa I think so I assume I may not have to come back to every single episode, but rather watch these highlights instead

I know I talked about it on ur Livestream the other day but the manga series i enjoyed the most last year (and still enjoy this year) is Edens Zero i know Fairy Tail is holding you back but trust me it is really good i’d say the moment it turns from pretty good to “omg what did i just read” is the volume 7-9 area, not that the previous volumes are bad i just think what happens after that period is just so good its a pretty fun read for the first 6-8 volumes. I know that is a bit to read before it picks up the “pace” (it is fast paced not sure the best word for it) but trust me after that you feel it. You feel the tension when that point hits. This series will atleast reach how good Rave was im sure of it and it possibly could surpass it but we shall see. P.S. The main female has a similar feel to them like Elie from Rave
I haven't been keeping up with manga as much as I'd like, but the ongoing manga I really enjoyed reading last year were The Way of the Househusband, Witch Hat Atelier, and A Bride's Story. I've really been enjoying all of them, but A Bride's Story is definitely my favorite of the three. Wish it released faster, but I get that such detailed art takes a lot more time. I'm just impatient lol.
Great list! I've just started getting back into Golden Kamuy; fell off way back when I stopped reading manga for a while, so I'm starting all over again at volume 1. Planning to do the same for Vinland Saga. I'm also interested in trying Dead Demons and Real. My top ongoing series, in alphabetical order: Blue Period - It's inspired me to get into drawing and exploring my creative side. Delicious in Dungeon - Just a fun, creative dungeon crawler with very endearing characters, and the art's gotten really good. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End - Only just started getting released in English; really moving exploration of mortality in an interesting fantasy world. I Want to Hold Aono-kun so Badly I Could Die - This is, criminally, only being released digitally; nonetheless, a fantastic horror-romance with potent imagery and messages about relationships and self-worth. The most 'hidden gem' manga on my list. Oshi no Ko - Still lacking an English release, this series by the creator of Kaguya-sama: Love is War is just as good, with great characters and a fascinating dive into the entertainment industry. Skip and Loafer - If you're looking for wholesome slice-of-life with a little romance, this is the series for you. The lead is the most lovable protagonist you'll find. Witch Hat Atelier - Fabulous art, intricately detailed world and magic system, and a great cast.
I find it impossible to rank things of different genres against each other because they're just so apples to oranges, and then also excluding things without an official English license drastically shrinks my would-be list too. If I make anything, it would be multiple lists split by both genre and including/excluding unlicensed titles.
You don't get slightly more excited to read certain manga over others? It doesn't have to be apples to apples. It's purely about which series gives you the most enjoyment
@@levicrews3713 When it comes to say romcoms vs action series, yeah I just find it impossible when they're both really good. I can maybe pick a favorite overall title, and maybe a 2nd favorite, but once you're getting down to like 3-10, I really struggle.

Your videos are great! And your taste on manga is really similar to mine so i'm gonna tell you 2 series you should give a chance... First it might been released on usa because of its author that is "Sunny" from tayio matsumoto. And the second one was released here in brazil in 2021 but it's not that popular so i don't think you can find in usa... but if you did, i beg you to read "Nyx no Lantern" from Kan Takahama. Those two are my favorites series (both finished) off all time and I don't see too many youtubers talking about it. Keep the great work!!!
The first place in my top 10 will always be One Piece, no question, Oda is a genius writer. And then in no particular order: MHA, JJK, World Trigger and Spy x Family. There are a couple others that I read but none of them come close to this 5 in my opinion. Also webtoons Tower of God, unOrdinary and Omniscient Reader are amazing and I highly recommend them. And great video! It moved both Vinland Saga and Golden Kamui up in my TBR list :D
Well the good news is Slam Dunk is finally available widely the complete run without scalper hold outs of $100 stolen ex library copies . Thanks for Real unfortunately there’s some scalper hold outs I’ve heard greatness about it years ago but easily obtaining the full 15 volume run at retail price poses some challenges .
Goodnight Pun Pun was one of my favourites so I've been collecting Dead Dead until it's complete. Only up to Vol 8 of To Your Eternity. Blood on the Tracks I've been following the closest. Have you checked out Oshimi's Inside Marie?

I like your list. Good recommendations for a top 10. For me to name a few. Devilman collection, No guns life (on going) , Ikigami, Uzumaki, vagabond, Vinland saga, annnnd 🐉 ball super. Also looking forward to completing some series this year. (Chainsaw man pt1. And Hells paradise) so I can binge straight through it. 2022 for manga and anime is going to be 🔥🔥
For stuff coming out, One Piece, Dandadan, My Dress-Up Darling, and Witch Hat Atelier. And for stuff not officially translated yet, Blue Lock, Oshi no Ko, 100 Girlfriends, Destroy All Humanity They Can’t Be Regenerated. (Amazing and new take on sports manga; basically Act-Age once again; an amazingly funny comedy; Yu-Gi-Oh with an adorable romance.) If any in English, read Witch Hat Atelier. Some of the best world-building and use of paneling I’ve ever seen. And literally all of those ones not in English yet. All will be very popular when/if they are released in English.
I've got some similar feelings about your My Hero / One Punch Man point you made in the video. Curious if this latest chapter or two from OPM has left you feeling like we're about to get some serious plot depth, cos it has for me. Wonder if I'm looking too far into it.. Great Video

Ditto on Dead Dead Demons satirically sophisticated and characters who are cookie cutter duplicates of those out in public today - shallow self centered and stupid - Asano I believe holds the distinction for creating an existentially bleak masterwork Good Night PunPun AND one of the funniest manga series Dead Dead Demons he’s already a legend based on that alone .
Been loving Blood on the Tracks since it released, reading every new volume has been… well, I was going to say a blast but it’s really not. I am curious though - how do you feel about Asadora? I’ve been reading that since the first volume as well and I love it, but I’m a mark for Urasawa and kaiju stuff lol. Great list though, really gave me the push to read some books I’ve been meaning to, namely Golden Kamuy and Vinland Saga.
I've been loving JJK and BC as well as Kaiju No.8, The Elusive Samurai and Dandadan. OPM has been great as well yet a little slow in the story dept as you said. Murata is a monster with his art, especially the last few chapters. Ayashimon has been a pretty good new series so far also. I also agree Dai Dark is great and would be better larger format. I picked up most of dorohedoro this year as well and Hayashida is amazing. To Your Eternity and Vinland have both been great also. My top spot is probably goes to JJK though. Personally I just love stories about curses and the anime is so top tier. BC is a close second.
hey if you read and watched carefully here and there, then you should ignore any bias among sadness and become a kickass fantasy artist dude and your a good talker start by writeing reading and drawing every 15 minutes to 22 get up from what your doing see if you can help your loved ones out with grocerys or something, come back to it 15 mins after your done helping them out you probably will get even more drawing time done because you did a good thing, peace, drawing and writeing reading and watching is peace. anyway your a good collector so your in your verdict with hobbies i think its time for the next step to being a hobbie drawer man dont quit your job though, draw on the side, you guys and women here too
That Dai Dark volume is about the average size of a standard manga volume here in germany. I was always a little jealous that your average volume in english was slightly bigger, not to mention those huge viz signature editions. Around here we rarely ever get oversized volumes and we only have one publisher that releases theirs in that signature edition size all the time... the rest are mostly in that Dai Dark format.
I think your list is great, but one piece I think just hits home for people just because it has the nostalgia factor of growing up with it. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that) I feel the vast amount of content has spread its quality thin with poor consistency in all aspects.

This is the type of thumbnail people need to use. Whenever I see "Comic/ manga haul" and I see the books all in a stack on the thumbnail, I don't need to watch the video because I already know what they got. If I have to click on the video, I'm significantly more likely to stick around and listen to what you have to say. Good job and nice video.
That’s part of why when I do thumbnails for haul videos I don’t put everything in view. I put new releases at the front but then stack stuff behind them so you can only typically see a few of the other things I grabbed.
Dai Dark is so friggin good, not sure I like it over Dorohedoro but I still love it Vineland Saga I did love but yeah the Farm stuff kinda made me lose interest and it eventually just got put on the back burner. Also if you want to try more historic stuff Requiem For The Rose King is amazing Blood On The Tracks I love so much that it's almost too much for me, like it's so intense I have to psych myself up to read the next one. And hopefully it has a better ending than Flowers Of Evil (don't know if that's an unpopular opinion) Personally the big ones for me were Spy X Family, Dead Mount Death Play, Kaiju No.8 and my two favorites Murcielago and Machimaho

As I've got older and read more manga, it's become harder to enjoy new stories like I use to, but Sakamoto Days brings me back to how much I use to enjoy it. Dorohedoro and Chainsaw Man are two others that has me enjoying manga a lot.
Jujutsu Kaisen an example of I've just read too much manga to enjoy that one as much; it's not bad but if you've read Bleach, HxH, and Naruto, it's very mid but would have loved it if new to manga
I've read one piece when I was younger. Around 2010. I must have read around the first 30 volumes maybe a bit less. I am very happy to anounce that I started picking up the manga, I've got the east blue and alabasta arc already. But I will continue till the end! It might take a while but I will complete this collection :) Thanks for this video, very interesting and wel done as always!

when you talk about one piece it’s true, it truly is one of the greatest pieces of fiction out there. oda is one of the hardest working mangakas taking hardly any breaks during the past 20+ years making the series. he deserves the world♥️

I watched the anime and i got to like the crocodile arc or whatever his name was. And i couldnt stand it no more, when does it get good in your opinion. I kinda want to collect it because i know it gets better
@@widepeepohappy820 As someone that had never really gotten into manga/anime until recently, one piece was the first one I tried and I loved it from the first episode. Some people say either arlong park or alabasta (the one you'd be on currently) usually hook everyone, but if you're not hooked yet, the next big arc that seems to get everyone hooked is water 7/enies lobby which comes at about the 200 episode mark.
Maybe One Piece just isn't for you but if you wanna give it a shot, try hang in there till Water 7/enies lobby, which some people consider the best arc.
@@widepeepohappy820 well it's good from the start imo, maybe it's just not for you, around 400eps/500chs it became my favorite series of all time, if you still have the energy, will to get into one piece then plz do so it's one of those series which i think everyone should experience, maybe check out the anime it's great till 500eps or you can check out 'one pace' which is a fan made version which cuts out all the fillers and is loyal to the manga panel for panel so One pace is like watching the anime

I LOVE THE GOLDEN KAMUY LOVE! Way too underrated, one of the most fun and informational manga of all time.
i don't read a ton of ongoing manga (usually the ongoing stuff i read is manhwa) but my favorite ongoing manga is yona of the dawn ☺️ i would be so excited if you even just read the first volume, it's fantastic! i feel like lots of people don't consider it because it is technically a shoujo manga but after the first chapter it gets more fantasy/action/political-fantasy based. if you like strong female leads and historical fantasy stuff definitely give it a shot. i'm glad you mentioned komi, i've read the first two volumes after my friends recommended it to me and i'm really enjoying it 😌
One of the high points of my year was finishing Pandora Hearts after so much time has passed since it ended. It became my favorite manga of all time and I felt so happy to finally honour Mochizuki-sensei work.
Shes a big inspiration to me since I was in High School. Her art is beautiful, her script and story line is so complex and intricate. On the begging it starts pretty simple, but as the story goes on it just kept getting better and better to the point I was so heartbroken that it ended that I cried a little upon reading the last page.
Another series that I have been always interest in because I love Sakura Card Captors since I was I kid was Tsubasa Chronicles. I finally got to experience to the fullest last year and it was fantastic. Everytime I think about how good it was I have an urge to read it all over again.
The history is solid and gives time to you and the characters solve the mystery together. The art is fenomenal with highly detailed backgrounds and scenarios and seeing them all being more developed is such a treat. I loved it so much.
I hope CLAMP gets to finally finishing xxxHOLIC too because is also mixes with Tsubasa as well.
Excluding the ones on your list, I'm enjoying Sousou no Frieren
, Blue Lock, Dandadan and it's early, but I'm liking Yomi no Tsugai
, the new work from Arakawa (I know these don't follow your rules for your top10, but I recommend all)
Yomi no Tsugai is good so far, but with only 2 chapters, hard to get a feel yet. Have you been reading Arslan? (Arakawa’s other ongoing series) Been really enjoying it.
I add Tongari Boushi no Atelier, I think this manga is a MARVEL.
the “problem” with one piece for most people is it’s length, and it was the main issue with me for the longest time. but after picking it up, i can safely say it’s one of if not the best anime/manga i’ve seen
i'll add another one (i've just read the manga up to V30). The start. it's so slow, and boring. Now don't tell me i'm being corny, but like i've tried reading the first 300 chapters, but i just can't get in further after reading nearly a third (Yes!) of the series. It's just impossible.
And that's the reason why i find the ppl who like the series usually started it as their first anime/manga, while others who have already been reading other things wont necessairly like it.
I mean my favorite mangas are usually those dark, mature mangas about character devellopement. The most "childish" & light-hearted (Lol) series are something like Jojo's or oshi no ko. So my point is mainly " The more mangas u'll read, the less u'll like one piece"

I'm personally really loving Fire Force even though it's ending soon, I don't think it gets enough credit tbh for how great it is. I'm also really enjoying Ghost Reaper Girl, Kaiju No.8 and Spy X Family. Really great list, I guess I gotta check out Dai Dark, it's the only one on this list I haven't read yet.

Just finished volume. 22 of fireforce and I enjoyed it alot. The anime was top tier in fight scenes imo.
My list would probably look something like this (in no particular order): Vinland Saga, Black Clover, and Komi Can’t Communicate. If I include the finished series that I read/started then I’d also throw in The Promised Neverland and FullMetal Alchemist, since I read and collected both this year. For my first year of reading manga, I think I’ve done pretty well for myself xD

Houseki no kuni/Land of the Lustrous is quite literally my favorite manga of all time,, Haruko Ichikawa is so detailed in her paneling and her charcaterizations and the relationships she builds with her characters are so intertwined. I feel like she has Hajime Isayama levels of detail in her writing and is even better. Highly recommend,,
Curious given they don’t seem necessarily up your alley but I respect your opinion a lot and at least one meets this list requirements… Komi being in this list is the only reason I even ask honestly:
1) My Dress-Up Darling: anime just started. Caught up on the manga and literally obsessed. Generally not a fan of fan-service, but it’s actually justified (mostly) in this series. Story and romance is amazing though imo. Currently ongoing.
2) Horimiya. Still new to manga collecting, and it’s technically completed (in Japan, but not English), but this is my favorite manga for sure to this point. Haven’t seen you mention this one in any prior videos so I’d absolutely love to hear your thoughts on it.
Horimiya is absolutely fantastically written.
I would love to see a review or some type of video on Planetes. There’s so much in that manga and I felt like I was able to take away the main message of it, but I feel like your analysis would do it so much more justice than my own.

Wild, One Punch is my #1 fav manga.
You should deff check out "Dandadan" though its made by one of fujimoto's former assistants that helped him on Chainsaw Man & Fire Punch. The artwork is phenomenal and character designs are really cool

Golden Kamuy is awesome! I still need to catch up but it is easily in my top ten favorite manga. Great characters, story and art. Definitely a underrated series that needs more love.
I just want to say, I've been collecting manga for way over a decade and always love your ongoing manga list and recommendations. Got into Komi Can't communicate, Golden Kamuy, Vinland Saga, and To Your Eternity because of one of your recommended videos (maybe 2 years ago?) and love those series. To Your eternity I think has a nice arc going on, just a weird blend of high school life wasn't expected. Thanks for putting these videos out, will definitely check out Blood on the Tracks(great Bob Dylan song)and finally will get around to picking up Real, just still a little salty about Inoue not touching on Vagabond haha.
Was kinda hoping to see Undead Unluck on this list for 2021, as it was my Manga of the year, but I'll definitely keep a mental note of all these series I'm not already reading

@@M3g4UBERn00b yeah what His Royal Highness said, the beginning of the series is not a good representation of what the series is really about and its easily my 2nd favorite ongoing manga in Jump rn behind One Piece. I've also gotten a deeper appreciation with the extras that are in the volumes I've bought too, definitely recommend staying with it till chapter 9 at minimum and to be more fair about chapter 20, though it only gets better each subsequent arc
If you love MHA you should read the spin off Vigilantes, it's sooo good and has so much character development from the older heroes and some really awesome new characters

Appreciate the MHA love :) I agree Murata’s art is absolutely incredible but I believe Horikoshi has some of the best *weekly* manga art, it’s incredible what he puts out!! It makes me wonder what his art would look like if he were writing a monthly series

You should pick up gundam thunderbolt and blade of immortal omnibuses. The 10 omnibus looks great on the shelf

2021 is the year I started reading Manga. It started with 3 series I always wanted to read. Akira, Battle Angel and Ghost in the Shell. And it’s blossomed into other series such as Berserk, Helsing, Dragon Ball Super, My Hero and Demon Slayer. This year I’ll be adding dozens more to that list. But as I’m new and haven’t read through a lot of what I bought. I can’t make a top ten list.
Great list! My current ongoing favorites not mentioned would be HInamatsuri, Delicious in Dungeon, Asadora! and Teasing Master Takagi-san.
My current reads are Jojo, Kaiju No. 8 and some completed content like Demon Slayer and Naruto. Hyped for the vid

I can't blame you for putting One Piece at number one. Like you, it's one of the few ongoing manga I regularly keep up with. It's always been a constant in my life. The current arc has been solid. Some of the most entertaining stuff I've read from the series in a long while(Especially compared to Dressrosa). In general, One Piece has its problems but I still very much respect/ love Oda's work. And I look forward to keep experiencing this series until its ending.

Top ongoing manga series of 2021 in no particular order for me were blue box, dandadan, sakamoto days, Kaiju no 8, and kingdom. A lot of these series were just a breath of fresh and didn’t have any real low points during the year.
Top 3 ongoing webtoons from 2021: 1)kubera: one last god 2) purple hyacinth 3) the girl from random chatting (random chat)
I literally just started Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction like a week ago and just now caught up. As a fan of PunPun I absolutely love it and I am sad to hear its ending soon

I am currently reading a few of the titles in your top 10 list (Komi, JJK, Dededededestruction) and so agree w/ you that Dedededestruction is superb. Am now intrigued w/ Dai Dark despite never having read anything from Q Hayashida - will check this title out!
I know I talked about it on ur Livestream the other day but the manga series i enjoyed the most last year (and still enjoy this year) is Edens Zero i know Fairy Tail is holding you back but trust me it is really good i’d say the moment it turns from pretty good to “omg what did i just read” is the volume 7-9 area, not that the previous volumes are bad i just think what happens after that period is just so good its a pretty fun read for the first 6-8 volumes. I know that is a bit to read before it picks up the “pace” (it is fast paced not sure the best word for it) but trust me after that you feel it. You feel the tension when that point hits. This series will atleast reach how good Rave was im sure of it and it possibly could surpass it but we shall see. P.S. The main female has a similar feel to them like Elie from Rave
I haven't been keeping up with manga as much as I'd like, but the ongoing manga I really enjoyed reading last year were The Way of the Househusband, Witch Hat Atelier, and A Bride's Story. I've really been enjoying all of them, but A Bride's Story is definitely my favorite of the three. Wish it released faster, but I get that such detailed art takes a lot more time. I'm just impatient lol.
Great list! I've just started getting back into Golden Kamuy; fell off way back when I stopped reading manga for a while, so I'm starting all over again at volume 1. Planning to do the same for Vinland Saga. I'm also interested in trying Dead Demons and Real.
My top ongoing series, in alphabetical order:
Blue Period - It's inspired me to get into drawing and exploring my creative side.
Delicious in Dungeon - Just a fun, creative dungeon crawler with very endearing characters, and the art's gotten really good.
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End - Only just started getting released in English; really moving exploration of mortality in an interesting fantasy world.
I Want to Hold Aono-kun so Badly I Could Die - This is, criminally, only being released digitally; nonetheless, a fantastic horror-romance with potent imagery and messages about relationships and self-worth. The most 'hidden gem' manga on my list.
Oshi no Ko - Still lacking an English release, this series by the creator of Kaguya-sama: Love is War is just as good, with great characters and a fascinating dive into the entertainment industry.
Skip and Loafer - If you're looking for wholesome slice-of-life with a little romance, this is the series for you. The lead is the most lovable protagonist you'll find.
Witch Hat Atelier - Fabulous art, intricately detailed world and magic system, and a great cast.
I find it impossible to rank things of different genres against each other because they're just so apples to oranges, and then also excluding things without an official English license drastically shrinks my would-be list too. If I make anything, it would be multiple lists split by both genre and including/excluding unlicensed titles.

You don't get slightly more excited to read certain manga over others? It doesn't have to be apples to apples. It's purely about which series gives you the most enjoyment
@@levicrews3713 When it comes to say romcoms vs action series, yeah I just find it impossible when they're both really good. I can maybe pick a favorite overall title, and maybe a 2nd favorite, but once you're getting down to like 3-10, I really struggle.

And your taste on manga is really similar to mine so i'm gonna tell you 2 series you should give a chance... First it might been released on usa because of its author that is "Sunny" from tayio matsumoto.
And the second one was released here in brazil in 2021 but it's not that popular so i don't think you can find in usa... but if you did, i beg you to read "Nyx no Lantern" from Kan Takahama.
Those two are my favorites series (both finished) off all time and I don't see too many youtubers talking about it.

Blood on the track is the masterpiece for felling bad after a quick read
The first place in my top 10 will always be One Piece, no question, Oda is a genius writer.
And then in no particular order:
MHA, JJK, World Trigger and Spy x Family.
There are a couple others that I read but none of them come close to this 5 in my opinion.
Also webtoons Tower of God, unOrdinary and Omniscient Reader are amazing and I highly recommend them.

Well the good news is Slam Dunk is finally available widely the complete run without scalper hold outs of $100 stolen ex library copies . Thanks for Real unfortunately there’s some scalper hold outs I’ve heard greatness about it years ago but easily obtaining the full 15 volume run at retail price poses some challenges .
I'm agree for Dai Dark, Seven Seas release are really small, not only that the letters are so small too, sometimes it's hard to read.
Goodnight Pun Pun was one of my favourites so I've been collecting Dead Dead until it's complete. Only up to Vol 8 of To Your Eternity. Blood on the Tracks I've been following the closest. Have you checked out Oshimi's Inside Marie?
Of all the stuff I'm reading these days, only One Piece (which I've been reading since 2001) and Asadora are ongoing series, so...I'm glad you have options for a top 10. Nice titles anyway, I know them all but wouldn't read them if they were free of charge. De gustibus.

Been loving Blood on the Tracks since it released, reading every new volume has been… well, I was going to say a blast but it’s really not. I am curious though - how do you feel about Asadora? I’ve been reading that since the first volume as well and I love it, but I’m a mark for Urasawa and kaiju stuff lol. Great list though, really gave me the push to read some books I’ve been meaning to, namely Golden Kamuy and Vinland Saga.
I've been loving JJK and BC as well as Kaiju No.8, The Elusive Samurai and Dandadan. OPM has been great as well yet a little slow in the story dept as you said. Murata is a monster with his art, especially the last few chapters. Ayashimon has been a pretty good new series so far also. I also agree Dai Dark is great and would be better larger format. I picked up most of dorohedoro this year as well and Hayashida is amazing. To Your Eternity and Vinland have both been great also.
My top spot is probably goes to JJK though. Personally I just love stories about curses and the anime is so top tier. BC is a close second.

hey if you read and watched carefully here and there, then you should ignore any bias among sadness and become a kickass fantasy artist dude and your a good talker start by writeing reading and drawing every 15 minutes to 22 get up from what your doing see if you can help your loved ones out with grocerys or something, come back to it 15 mins after your done helping them out you probably will get even more drawing time done because you did a good thing, peace, drawing and writeing reading and watching is peace. anyway your a good collector so your in your verdict with hobbies i think its time for the next step to being a hobbie drawer man dont quit your job though, draw on the side, you guys and women here too

That Dai Dark volume is about the average size of a standard manga volume here in germany. I was always a little jealous that your average volume in english was slightly bigger, not to mention those huge viz signature editions. Around here we rarely ever get oversized volumes and we only have one publisher that releases theirs in that signature edition size all the time... the rest are mostly in that Dai Dark format.
I think your list is great, but one piece I think just hits home for people just because it has the nostalgia factor of growing up with it. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that) I feel the vast amount of content has spread its quality thin with poor consistency in all aspects.

This is the type of thumbnail people need to use. Whenever I see "Comic/ manga haul" and I see the books all in a stack on the thumbnail, I don't need to watch the video because I already know what they got. If I have to click on the video, I'm significantly more likely to stick around and listen to what you have to say. Good job and nice video.
That’s part of why when I do thumbnails for haul videos I don’t put everything in view. I put new releases at the front but then stack stuff behind them so you can only typically see a few of the other things I grabbed.
Dai Dark is so friggin good, not sure I like it over Dorohedoro but I still love it
Vineland Saga I did love but yeah the Farm stuff kinda made me lose interest and it eventually just got put on the back burner. Also if you want to try more historic stuff Requiem For The Rose King is amazing
Blood On The Tracks I love so much that it's almost too much for me, like it's so intense I have to psych myself up to read the next one. And hopefully it has a better ending than Flowers Of Evil (don't know if that's an unpopular opinion)
