As hard as it is to believe this story is based on a true event even the real name of the ripper and victims are not changed to protect the innocent. Ripper in real life was caught after fleeing an unsuccessful murder attempt when he dropped his gas mask and was traced back to the ripper

Tip for those looking for a good 'Holmes' story, whether derivative or condensed:
Anything less than 40 minutes duration is likely to be rubbish; why?
Beacause it's next-door to impossible to create the scenario, introduce and describe the characters, include convincing dialogue, and fashion a plot which doesn't have Holmes homeing in on the solution like an exocet missile in less than that time.
American productions are even worse because they will contain adverts for various antedeluvian products.

Interesting story. I am not sure that murders would even be investigated during the Blitz. The narration is so ridiculously over acted that it has to be deliberate. I have to make the assumption that this is some brand of English humor, but it's not actually funny. That being said, it is still a good story, well worth listening to.

Murders were investigated in the Blitz. The Met police were still functioning normally , dealing with day to day problems, murders and bombs. There actually a series of murders of women in air raid shelters committed by a member of the RAF. He was arrested by the London Police , taken to court and hung
