      @@MotorhomeMatt Hi Matt,
      Sorry for not messaging back sooner - as well as spinning the odd tune still, I am still organising and running events. Did a charity ball last week and a conference in Bournemouth for 4 days which was great fun.
      No unfortunately we do not have a motorhome/campervan but we do have a static caravan in Brean in Somerset on the beach front where my wife and I take take the kids...had it 8 years now !
      I used to go to the caravan shows as love seeing the evolvement of new designs etc - next time I go I will check prior if you are there and would love to come and say hi !!!
      Keep up the podcasts mate - I have send the links to several people I know who have motorhomes.
      Keep safe 👍

    Regarding heating, they need to install a heated floor. Westfalia has just introduced an electric heated floor on their 2024 Columbus range but only when hooked up to the mains though.

      I have some underfloor heating in my home made camper based on an e-dispatch. Will be interesting to test it properly for the first time this winter.

    I've seen videos about all-electric campervans with a 200 mile range, admittedly in the US, Italy or Germany. I wish manufacturers would share knowledge but then I suppose I'm being naive. I've also seen at least four videos entitled "the first-ever all electric campervan" and they featured four completely different vans by four different manufacturers!!

      Ha ha yes I know what you mean! I’ve seen much similar content. An exciting time for innovation and product creation. Soon we will see more hydrogen and more hybrid products. An exciting time to be alive!

    Great review its fantastic to see the future unfolding. though surprised the roof wasn't one huge big solar panel to recharge itself while you're camping.
    Ohh and just to add.. In 2018, the UK secured a derogation from the European Commission which allowed category B licence holders to drive alternatively-fuelled goods vans with a maximum authorised mass (MAM) of 4,250 kilograms (kg), over the standard 3,500kg entitlement.

    • @mhcmotorhomes3695
      @mhcmotorhomes3695 Рік тому

      Thanks for listening and for your comment. It would certainly be a good upgrade to fit solar to the roof. Let's hope the derogation for B Licence holders to drive 4250kg is extended to motor caravans

    The e-deliver 9 by Maxus with the much larger 89kWh battery would have been a better base for this and give a range closer to 200 miles. I can't wait to get an EV motorhome.

    • @MotorhomeMatt
      @MotorhomeMatt  4 місяці тому

      This was a partnership with Ford hence the e-transit. How long do you think it will be until we can order an electric motorhome?

      It’s not available to purchase. This is a prototype.

    • @lifebeyondbricks
      @lifebeyondbricks 10 місяців тому

      Bailey are saying this vehicle would be 75% more expensive than the diesel version so working on the assumption that the Endeavour starts at £70K would be around £123K for the EV version, but it is worth noting that a lot of the extra specification on this van accounts for two thirds of this increase so would unlikely be this expensive if it actually went into production with standard kit.

  • @stevezodiac491
    @stevezodiac491 Рік тому +1

    Can you insure it cheaply and when will it spontaneously combust ? Would you charge it well away from a building ?

    • @lifebeyondbricks
      @lifebeyondbricks 10 місяців тому

      Not heard of the E-transits being expensive to insure but would imagine it would be slightly more than the Diesel version as the upfront purchase cost is higher, I would hope that it never spontaneously combusts like the vast majority of other EV's. As for charging the EV near a building there are millions upon millions of successful charge cycles every day without any thermal incident, just like there are millions and millions of ICE vehicles getting filled up with fuel and not catching fire either.

    I have leased two Mercedes EQC’s for my son’s in the last 6 weeks. 80 kWh batteries. The range is less than 200 miles in real world driving and the battery drains quickly when you put the heating on. Luckily I didn’t buy the cars because the value has plummeted. I won’t be buying a EV motorhome any time soon.

    • @MotorhomeMatt

      Eqc is so bad Mercedes stopped the production in some area. Just check real Ev built from the ground up and not a bad conversion like eqc

      Why do you think that? Of course, some aspects are not there yet, which both Bailey and Ford would happily admit themselves, but technology is moving fast!

    • @tonysmith7739
      @tonysmith7739 Рік тому

      I personally do not think technology is moving that fast I’ve worked in the truck industry nearly all my working life that’s where we need to move forward fast as the transportation of goods is key not the leisure industry or that would be nice as we travel full time in our motorhome 🚐
