    It is always good to see the broken rise above themselves to be heroes: a man who just got out of prison, a man with a lot of growing up to do, a man who views his need for a violent lifestyle as sinful, and a woman who needs to regain her connection to humanity as whole.

    I just finished watching the season and I really enjoyed it. What I found most pleasuring was seeing the side characters from each of the shows interacting with one another. I'm just trying to enjoy the marvel cinematic universe has to offer before it all will end one day.

    Ok can someone explain to me how this is worth a 10/10 when for the 3RD TIME IN A ROW, The Hand have disappointed us in being a great threat, their end game being to dig up dragon bones; the bones being huge isn't a good enough reason, Iron Fist is still a reckless idiot that makes things harder than they should be, the idea of the Black Sky is brought up AGAIN FOR A 3RD TIME IN A ROW BUT ISN'T EXPLAIN HERE; HERE WHERE IT WAS THE IDEAL TIME TO DO SO, the supporting cast didn't play more of an overall impact, The Hand is all build up with no real payoff of any sort, 8 episodes should have been 13 to help flesh things out more, Elektra's identity crisis doesn't help built the Hand up but rather undermines her and she falls under the cliche of "there's still good in her even when she's evil" even though that contradicts the idea of a person losing some of their humanity when resurrected, lastly the enjoyment of seeing these 4 join up to save the day is diminished when you take everything above into consideration. Yes, there's STILL more problems but I'm done here. Just, someone explain how this is worth 10/10??????

    • @kookybuger
      @kookybuger 7 років тому

      It isn't a 10/10 but it's still a great show. In Iron Fist, I don't recall who but I believe they said something about the more you come back from death the less humane you become before becoming this killing machine who is a shell of their former selves (that's at least what I got from Iron Fist). They might have cut this show down to 8 episodes due to budgeting, time contrasts (I heard Iron FIst was also filming around the same time), or to keep it short and to the point without any filler episodes (all of the shows seem to have at least one episode like that). The supporting cast probably didn't play a huge role because there isn't much of a story for them inside a police station (would have been nice to see some interaction) some people might have also been upset if they focused a little bit too much attention on them instead of the defenders as well. The hand was struggling to fight off daredevil and the iron fist alone so it's not that surprising that they failed against 4 mutant humans one being bullet proof, Jessica Jones is the only one they could have killed with ease. The Iron Fist also punched a dragon in its heart to get his powers so dragon bones being their end game to granting the Hand the ability to live forever oddly enough makes sense since they are rare or extinct in the show and seem to grant some type of power to humans. The show isn't perfect but I enjoyed it overall.

      bionicleanime how is it not good enough motivation? It wasn't "Oh we want to rule the world" crap, it was much more personal motive for Hand, they wanted to live forever because all of their substance was drained. But with digging dragon bones the whole New York will fall apart, it just shows that they will do whatever is necessary want to get what they need. Iron Fist had a huge arc this season and he will definitely change after witnessing Daredevil's sacrifice. Also he has loads of reasons to be reckless, dude spent years outside of world and for years couldn't escape the monastery, was dragged into a war he doesn't understand and lost almost everything, he obviously has psychological problems. Also, it's an opinion mate, if this was your problem, it wasn't problem for someone else.

    • @mormegil231
      @mormegil231 7 років тому +1

      And can i also add that i never understood Electras motive? She was going back and forth in mentality without any real reason. Being a psychopath is not the same as doing random things. All villains fall into the traps of talking too much instead of killing. The Police involvement at the end had no reason to be there and only creates plot holes (which makes the idea of none of the defenders getting charged for anything at the end completely nonsensical.) . Also the whole Daredevil might be dead at the end is as bad and as useless as superman´s death in BvS. And finally Why the fuck was Luke Cage the only person that had an issue with killing their opponents when one of Murdock´s defining characteristic is his faith that does not allow him to kill. Which was also the one of the main themes of season 2. WTH guys...

    I disagree with you on Electra, she didn't come across as more dangerous than the Hand, or a force of nature. The Hand were lame, masters of martial arts who've been alive for centuries and lived through countless wars, get their asses kicked by a blind lawyer, a drunk detective, a super strong janitor from a barber shop and some trust fund kung fu brat.
    The Hand in this series were a joke and Electra was even worse. Any one of the Avengers could have easily kicked her ass and Luke could have beaten her if he wanted. Electra doesn't hold a candle to villains like the Vulture or Kingpin who are complex but also threatening.

    • @proto245

      The Fan Without a Face Well...Daredevil gave her enough depth to pass it here and made it clear that she's a psychopath. Her love of Matt was the only thing stopping her from cutting loose. This show is a clear example if she cut lose and allowed to go unchecked. Also the entire season build up for her to regain her memory and begin cutting heads as the unchecked assassin she was in DD season 2 . So I disagree there. Also using the avengers for street level threat is a bit unfair for the context of the show.

    The main problem with the hand is that their most notable members were Electra (who betrays them on a daily basis) and Kingpin. Yes, that's not a typo, Fisk took over the hand. Why, because Spider-Man villains can just do that, accept it.

    Did the conflict between Iron Fist and the rest of the rest of the team in episode 6 of the show seem bad because of dramatic irony or Iron Fist genuinely being stupid? In Danny's defence, Danny did have precedence for thinking the Hand was lying and just trying to recruit him to their side to fight on their behalf as a soldier because of Bakuto and the audience could already figure out that the Hand wanted the Iron Fist to open a gate based on their conversations which we could see but the Defenders couldn't. But on the other hand, there was a lot clues that the Defenders got about why the Hand wanted Danny, such as Alexandra infiltrating the Chinese restaurant just to get Danny even though she could've just killed them all, Sawande saying "the Iron Fist is the key" and Stick pointing out that the Iron Fist has the power to open and unlock stuff based on hearsay. Plus, Danny really came off as arrogant on his insistence that the Hand fear him and that he's the only one who can defeat the Hand even though Gao and Alexandra have pointed out they have fought Iron Fists that have preceded him and won.

  • @Saiyef96
    @Saiyef96 7 років тому +4

    Do people actually like Elektra? She just doesn't make any sense to me, in that she enjoys killing but is in love with Matt (who is absolutely against killing) for how "good" he is. I just don't understand what her motivations were in both Daredevil and The Defenders. Also, WHY DIDN'T STICK CREMATE HER BODY TO STOP THE HAND FROM RESURRECTING HER?

    • @jonathancampbell5231
      @jonathancampbell5231 7 років тому +7

      She doesn't enjoy "killing"; she enjoys fighting and combat and excitement and so on. Killing is something that comes naturally to her and she doesn't have the same qualms about it that most people do, but for the most part she doesn't take any sadistic pleasure in it except for particular individuals she thinks "have it coming".
      Most people see her as a monster for this and the only people who admire her happen to be villains, so naturally she is unsure if there is something wrong with her yet she also doesn't know why if this stuff is wrong it comes so naturally to her. Matt is the only one who doesn't treat her mainly as a weapon or a monster, but instead as a person.
      Matt is a case of "opposites attract". He also enjoys fighting and excitement and might, deep down, have it in him to kill someone if pushed far enough...but he generally represses this side of himself or uses it for more constructive purposes. He's a good guy with a dark side, she's a bad girl with a good side. What attracts him to Elektra is that she encourages him to embrace that side of himself and try as he might, he likes it ("when I'm with you...I'm free"), and he in turn brings out the best in her in terms of her protective instincts (at least towards him, but that's still progress) and, again, she appreciates someone who doesn't see her as a tool.
      Elektras repressed good side is a lot like Matt's normal self, and Matt's repressed dark side is close to Elektra's normal self. They happen to genuinely like each other and get along very well because they can tell that despite outward appearances, they have quite a bit in common- different, but similar at the same time, even if most other people can't see it.
      And one of the things that makes Matt such a good person in Elektra's eyes is that he sees the good IN HER, where most people can't including herself. She's long ago accepted that she was a ruthless killing machine and learned to live with it without question, so if Matt can see it not just in others but in her as well then he's either adorably naive or in her eyes practically a saint and either way worth protecting and being around, with her only fear being that she might end up ruining him instead...but that doesn't change the attraction, and the fact that nothing she does ruins him in that way only makes her admire him more.

    • @galactic85
      @galactic85 7 років тому +3

      Yeah. As I was watching the show and it got to the point where Matt was obsessed with saving her because he "loved" her and saw the "goodness" in her I just kept thinking Matt was a dumb ass. I can't buy Daredevil falling in love with someone like the version of Elektra in this show. From my perspective, the only reason the Matt Murdock we see in this show is in love with Elektra is because Daredevil is supposed to love Elektra and this character was named Elektra so he has to love her. In the comics it made sense that he wanted to save her because she started off as a relatively average girl and they had a stable and loving relationship, but then after her father died and she made the mistake of joining the hand she became a criminal. Also, she actually DID show moments of redemption throughout the comic, like when she spares Foggy right before she is killed by Bullseye. The version in the show only ever showed redeeming qualities when she saves Matt, which she always does for selfish reasons. In Daredevil season 2 Matt constantly alternates from "MY GOD! YOU'RE A MONSTER!" to "I love you so much, let's runaway together!" without any logical reason. His opinion on Elektra changes based on the needs of the plot. I know they were basing this version of the character more in line with the version from "Man Without Fear" but there the relationship made more sense because, aside from the fact it's not that great of a comic, the Matt Murdock we see in that comic is a MUCH different interpretation of the character from the one we see in a monthly ongoing series set in the mainstream Marvel universe.

      galactic85 I feel the exact same way at least from the cannon from the late 70's to early 80's that I read. It's hard to understand the emotional depth with Elektra and the relationship with Matt & her in the non comic adaptations. Something the writers so failed at.

    I love the Netflix shows but man were the Hand a letdown. In Daredevil Seasons 1 and 2, they built up a good mystery as to what their motivations were but because they didn't say what the stakes were in the Season 2 finale, I stopped caring as I didn't know what they would gain if they succeeded in recruiting Elektra to their side. In Iron Fist, it just felt like they did whatever the plot told them to do, with Gao only focusing on making drugs and money and letting Danny capture her even though she could've easily fought him and escaped and Bakuto trying to recruit Danny but also stealing Gao's money for some reason. Then in the Defenders, they reveal their mysterious motivations...which is to steal dragon bone marrow. All that buildup was just for them to steal a magical macguffin that was barely alluded to throughout all the series. They might as well have been trying to steal strawberry shmiggles and I couldn't care less.

    I agree with Erod that the villians were underwhelming, especially Alexandra. Again, you got one of the most celebrated actresses in the world and yet she does little in terms of actually fighting the heroes.
    In defense of the DC tv series crossover, they had only 3 episodes. Honestly the crossover could have teased elements from each of the shows to demonstrate a need for them to team-up. I think it would make sense to have aliens from Supergirl's world invading the Flash/Arrow/Legends universe, causing the need for the crossover.
    I am surprised that Erod doesn't correct himself from his Iron Fist Honest Review that he was confused why Madam Gao was leading the Hand. The Defenders did a good job in clarifying that this version of the Hand is an multi-cultural international organization.

    Sorry, B.B., but this series was a 7/10 AT BEST. It loses momentum around the Chinese restaurant. The bad guys start out looking strong - like the Asian dude Tywin Lannistering a bear - but they lose so much of their threat lvl by the final showdown, either jobbing to Defenders or getting gelded by Weaver. As for Weaver, she doesn't come off any better as more and more she barely keeps control of her crew. The fights should have been a saving grace but, for so many scenes, there's nothing memorable about them except the Defenders' gathering at Rand building. For me the best things about this series were Stick and the Murdock/Jessica moments.

    I am going to have to disagree with you with Danny. The immortal Iron Fist is, as Stick puts it a 'Thundering Dumbass' who just will NOT stop whining...
    "Only I can stop the Hand." "I must be the one to fight the Hand." "They took EVERYTHING from me." "I just paid six months of a New Yorks restaurants rent and ordered one of everything on the menu so we can have ten minutes of privacy..."
    Yes, murdered parents is bad but it was Harold who actually arranged it. The Hand merely facilitated it for him. And being left with a Bruce Wayne like wealth that you can use to follow your own private crusade in a private jet all across the world while the money keeps rolling in isn't quite a bad life in the end.
    Almost every time Danny opened his mouth it was grating.

    I enjoyed the DC crossovers more. I think this team up needed little more work cause I remember only being interested when they teamed up for fight scenes.
    Erod is the only one I've seen give a glowing review. I think lots of people were kinda deflated on the shows after Iron fist let people down.

    Well I gotta say as much as I like Jessica Jones as a character I'm really getting tried of the "points out silly elements are silly" trope that Marvel & DC can't seem to help but add to their live-action adaptions. By the time they got to the Tower I was sick of hearing her rag on Matt's Costume & scoff at the Mystical elements on display.

      How about some acknowledgment that in both DC and Marvel continuities costumed vigilantes are nothing new, the Super-powered verity being openly reported on is a modern trend but anyone opening up a history text book in either should see names like "Captain America" "Jonah Hex" "Blue Marvel" & "The Justice Society of America".
      Having people act like the gimmicks are absurd makes a little sense in regards to feeling old fashioned, but this constant bashing of the very idea is starting to feel like writers are refusing to take comic-book adaptation seriously as their own genre of entertainment.

    Actually there was still one point of disappointment about Danny. Still didn't move or fight like a "living weapon", the only time we ever really get a glimpse of his skills is in the first fight in the Rand building in episode one of Iron Fist.

    I liked the show. It fell short on some parts like shifting villians AGAIN, they did that in DD 2, LC and a lot of times in IF. So yeah if she had atleast got to show what she can do against the Defenders, maybe lost and returned and then killed by Elektra I could accept it. But kiling her before it all comes to full bloom is a waste of potential. And sadly I thought the 3 Defenders vs the 3 Fingers of the hand was a bit dissapointing becuse they did that sort of fast and close up editing in a very dark room that I dislike. And I understand it´s hard to make a proper fightscene with the actor who plays Madam Gao but atleast DD vs Bokudo and...the japanese guy, sorry I never got his name. That was pretty cool. I did love the 360 degree fight in the underground tunnel so atleast a good last battle and the elevator. Letting Jessica do a Spiderman ala Sam raimi feats that made her look really cool. I have to remind myself that there budget ain´t as big as other TV-shows and having 4 shows crossing over so smothly like this is a big miracle. So yeah I have to give them major praise. I am just confused if Stick really is dead. With that flashback in the episode right after I could´t tell if that was that one scene in season 2 of DD or something else. It made me think that Stick planned all along that Elektra whould become Black Sky and kill the hand from the inside. And then more confusing is that Misty said there were 2 dead bodies at the scene, did´t Stick get rib of that one finger guy? So his headless body should´t be there, so Stick´s body and one more?
    Oh well they made me excited at new for all the new coming seasons and Punisher show.

    im sorry but i can never get over the fact that when you were pointing out great villains you chose Mariah Dillard over Cottonmouth hell even Diamondback is a better villain than her, also as much as i love Stan im glad he never physically appeared in any of these shows as cool as his cameos are every single one takes me out of the show or movie when he shows up and his tongue in cheek cameos just have no place in the dark gritty side f the MCU

    It was good but not as much as you say....The hand were really weak as characters and there were not really that impressive. Electra´s motive was nonsensical. It like the writers think phycho means random. And there were few really annoying bits here and there. Like the whole forced fight between the guys trying calm down Danny sucked big-time. They had no reason to make the Iron Fist behave like a child. That felt forced as fuck. And why was there such padding with the police right before the climax of the story...These parts were actually boring and did not really feel that they served any purpose.
    The whole thing was just ok...Nothing too special though. It could have been much better.

  • @slightlymad5724

    The Defenders is a good but flawed show, I'd give it a good 3/5.
    They show too much of the villains when they're not interacting with the heroes, and they don't allow the villains to be as awesome as they could be. The Hand were neither as mysterious or as awesome as they could have been.
    Claire Temple is a bit of a creator's pet, I don't like her. She is given too much attention, and her fighting ability is exaggerated.
