I hope people overseas can enjoy this tree. It's blooming in Australia at the moment, and the masses of orange flowers dotting across the suburban skyline is always delightful
I watched your video nearly a year ago now I have over 20 plus Grevillea robusta plants my 7 prized plants are nearly 190 cm tall cheers mate G'day from Mackay Queensland Australia 🇦🇺
@@ianh7710 Toowoomba here - we’ve planted them for the native and highly endangered flying foxes to eat. Hoping the ones we’ve planted help the massive land clearing qld has had recently
These grow all throughout LaHabra Heights including its Golf Course. Silvery leaves in winter are a treat to look upon, blossoms in Spring a tarnished golden mixed with yellow. I love the look of this tree! As you approach the pinnacle of fullerton road at Dorothea a backyard across from Dorothia has 4 visible from the road!! Lahabra Heights Oasis,, don't let others know such an area exists!🏖🏜🏝
The silky oak is a large tree, in the past milled fir furniture and window frames. Where plentiful in North Queensland it has been used for roof trusses. So with this in mind it is better suited to acreage and not close to houses.
It’s also the main root stock for a lot of grafted grevillea species and cultivars as some species are hard to grow outside their native habitat whereas the silky oak is known for growing anywhere from the outback to gutters
Hi Gardener, Nice explanation by the way!
Thanks for watching!

They have become quite common here in Kenya.

P.S I grew them all from seed I collected under a 50 metre Grevillea robusta tree.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the info!
Is this suitable for street side nature strip planting? Can it damage sewer pipes?
I would not recommend this tree for street side planting because of the roots. A full grown Silk Oak has a massive root system.

It would be nice if you included the growing zones of the species in you vids
Good idea, I will try to do that in future videos.
