I was 15 when this happened and living near Hanscom Park. I was going to South High at the time and was never happier to get home than that day. Ironically, we had moved out of the Wenthworth Apartments a couple of months earlier.
Hi I remember this tornado I turned 9 on that day. We lived south of Omaha. Out in the country by Nemaha Ne. My family and I spent 3 days in the root cellar because a huge tree was on top of us.
My mom was the switchboard operator and secretary at the Ralston Bank. They watched the roof lift off from the basement and the only thing left upstairs was my mom’s desk, purse and all still intact. My Dad ran across several blocks, middle school football field and jumped over live wires just to get to my mom at the bank to make sure she was okay. That bank has changed owners and names over the years but still looks exactly the same. My old stomping grounds❤️🩹

Some amazing footage that captures a place and people from a time that exists no more. I was five years old living in Lincoln and remember it well.
I saw 1 or 2 actual tornadoes in my life right here in tulsa. Scareeeee
It tore down 6 big trees i stayed inside
But this last fathers day straight wind tornado 2023 june was the closest i have been to tornado damage.
