  • Cal and Liam are here with a surprise bonus episode to discuss the details of the Batman: Caped Crusader featurette shown at the 2021 DC Fandome, which revealed that Bruce Timm will be joined by fellow DCAU Legend James Tucker in the production of the series. The Good Brothers share their reaction to Mr. Timm's comments that this series will be "more Batman: The Animated Series than Batman: The Animated Series." and confirmation of the prediction made by the hosts in a prior bonus episode that this show will be in the same vein as the Batman: Strange Days short produced for the Batman 75 celebration. They also discuss how the addition of Mr. Tucker to the team could quell the fears of those fearful of a modern Timm-led project, and a roundup of other DC Animated reveals on this special bonus edition of the DCAU Review!

I’m still really hoping they bring back Kevin Conroy and a lot of the voices from BTAS.

What I'd like to see from this show's version of Poison Ivy:
Firstly, hue the design very closely to Lynne Naylor's sketches.
TAS Ivy rarely ever reflected them which is how she was drawn
in the show's storyboards. As much as I love BTAS Pamela those
Naylor sketches are sexiness concentrate. Zero question. Need it.
Secondly, give her a fair number of spotlight episodes. TAS Ivy had so
few of them. It'd be nice if this incarnation appeared regularly just
like Joker or Dent. Which'd afford the writers multiple chances to
flesh out her character, psychology, back story, etc. More than what
BTAS ever did. Thirdly, don't fixate too much on her relationship with
Harley Quinn. Isley is an intriguing enough character by herself and
it annoys me how nowadays most people only fixate on that single
aspect to her, ignoring everything else which makes Poison Ivy special.
She's an eco terrorist vamp with mad scientist capabilities. That's a
unique character you can tell many, many different stories with.
And fourth, feel free to disagree, she should be made a love interest
for Batman. There's president for it from the comics. Strangely it's
the sole quality of hers we've never seen in any adaptations. Ivy's
always just an adversary to Wayne, nothing else. Interestingly the
BTAS producers considered doing it if the show's production bible
    is any indication.

@@ThePodtower I've just taken to heart what Bruce Timm said about this being "more Batman TAS than Batman TAS." And, according to him, he was never satisfied with how overseas studios animated Poison Ivy. Went off model. Really hoping they bring back Lynne Naylor to oversee this version's design. Now, as for who'd voice Ivy, I've many choices in mind but my favourite is Gillian Anderson.
