Pharrell Williams Comes Home to Virginia Beach

- Pharrell Williams returned home to Virginia Beach on Saturday, June 7, 2014 and spent the day encouraging local students in his From One Hand to AnOTHER program and his alma mater Princess Anne High School to make their dreams reality.
Pharrell was honored at Princess Anne High School homecoming event where he announced FOHTA's partnership with Everfi, which will provide digital learning opportunities for students taking part in FOHTA's Summer Innovation Camp. Pharrell spoke on the importance of education, urging kids to "Pay Attention." He honored his teachers, credited them with his achievements, in particular his Band Teacher Alan Sharps, who was in attendance. Pharrell also called for higher wages for teachers and pay equality between women and men teachers.
Pharrell was then presented with Key to the City of Virginia Beach and honored with a state proclamation to make June 7th, 2014 Pharrell Williams' Day in the state of Virginia. Pharrell later performed at Z104's Shaggfest.

Holy shit. I live in Virginia Beach and I was there when he visited Princess Anne high school! Shaggy went there as well! Such a great guy I mean I didn't really talk to him but I did say hello. Man I just realized how much of a small world we live in. Went to he same school I went to. Pharrell even has family still here in Virginia Beach
I think he looks super young, as in 20 years younger than his actual age, because he's HAPPY! For real, happy cheerful people seem younger than the depressing, focusing on the negative type people. A Happy heart is a Healthy heart!

Started at the bottom. Independence middle school band program is what started all of this!!! He never tooted his own horn but rather banged his own drum!

Mr Williams... you took that which was given you and you ran with it ! You ran fast and hard! Your greatest achievement is the From One Hand to Another program. You see sir, this can be your legacy. What successful people fail to do constructively is to go back to their communities and give back. Amagingly, when it comes to our youth, our leaders of tomorrow, you can't give back too much. Every bit of "give" is needed. I urge you to be and continue to be a positive role model for our children and take this tad of advice with you. We can no longer tell our children "don't do as I do, do as I say do" We just have to do!!! and... everything that we "do" has to be from a positive perspective! Children today very are observant. I see this in my 15 month old grand child. They will do what they see you do! Go Son, and show the world and our youth. The benefits come about when we do the right thing!!!

Pharrell is so cool! Rare is it to find a person with that amount of success and fame remain humble and grounded in the things that are truly important rather than worshiping the almighty dollar.

We need a Major Highway from Norfolk, Virginia to Rocky Mount, NC. This would connect Hampton Roads to Raleigh/Durham, Greenville, Fayetteville, and Wilmington in North Carolina while at the same time providing a direct route to Columbia SC, and Augusta and Savannah Georgia. International Flights would be more accessible since Raleigh has a major international airport. It would reduce travel time to Raleigh from 3.5 hours to 2. This is important since Hampton Roads has people from all over the US. Businesses in the area would greatly benefit also from people trying to travel south through 13S instead of skipping us entirely like they do now through 95S.
