- Hello to you all! As most of you know I just recently lost my sister unexpectedly! She leaves behind 3 BEAUTIFUL kids ages 17, 13 and 12! Such a young young age for them to have lost their mom! So I decided to make them each a DIY Memorial Remembrance Box also known as a Keepsake Box! Come see how I do this on a Budget! If your like me and you just don't care for the Idea or look of an Urn I give you a BUDGET friendly alternative to storing the ashes.

My husband passed away at 39 and I was 37 at the time. Devastated as I was, I knew I had to pull myself together because we had 3 children. Because of their ages, 12, 8 and 2, I knew I couldn't bring his ashes home. My brother took him in and he still resides there. The kids are 29, 23 and 19, and YOU'VE HELPED ME to see that I can bring him home. I will search for a box to celebrate him. Thank you Kelly, I love you❣

Kelly, I am sure this is the most difficult video you ever produced and I am so sorry for your loss. You made it so special to me and one of my favorites EVER. I lost my nephew on 10/17/18 and this is something I would like to do for my great niece and nephew. What a beautiful gesture on your part! We are all determined in my family to keep Keith's memory alive to everyone in the family and we get together with his twin brother and wife, his cousins and his other 2 brothers and have a party in his honor at least monthly going to a different house each time. It a nice way to get the family together again and keep his memory alive. We all bring dips and food, special drinks but most of all we get to spend time with his two children who are lost without their dad. His children are ages 6 and 11. We should all strive to be a great Aunt (like I hope to be for my Great Niece and Great Nephew) and a great Sister long after they have passed. May the quiet places in your heart be filled with sweet echoes of your sister's love for all of you. God bless you Kelly and let's keep the memories alive often.

When my husband died 5 years ago butterflies would follow me around. I didn’t spread his ashes either. You’re a wonderful Aunt to them. Sending you hugs and prayers. 🦋
My dad passed 4 years ago, and for some odd reason, I felt now is the time to spread his ashes at his and his brothers hunting cabin as well as leave his urn there. My dad was an avid hunter, living off the land is how he was raised.
How blessed are your nieces and nephew to have,you and your forsight. They will cherish these boxes and the treasures inside. What a labor of love.

Thank you for sharing this. Your sis was a beautiful person. You did it right by her in my opinion. We had a service for my 102 year old mother in law in August, and then had her cremated. My sister in law got some of her ashes and we got some, the rest are buried next to my father in law. We have her ashes in a beautiful pink rose dish from Hobby Lobby. WHEN my husband and I are ABLE to we will put some ashes in keepsakes for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchildren. WE aren't quite THERE yet. Our middle daughter asked for her glasses after the funeral, and was given them as a keepsake. Parting with a loved one---OLD as can be or YOUNG as in your case is NEVER easy Kelly. Kelly, just wanted you to know how much I appreciated you tonight. I cried along with you every time you mention your sister. She really was a beautiful woman. Seem she always had s smile on her face. Her kids are so lucky to have you as an aunt. I’m sure they will love an appreciate the thoughtfulness you put into making those boxes for them. I hope you have better luck than I did. I gave the kids their boxes earlier than I had planned because they just needed them. I also found that when I gave one I had to give each of them theirs Even the grandkids had one. And they do love them Again, thank you for sharing with us. Sweetest Kelly...Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this video. I am in the process of going through my precious mother's home, now. I lost my dad 12 years ago, my sister (my only sibling) 7 years ago, and now finally my sweet mother. I have been trying to think of ways I could do something special to honor each one of my family members as I go through Mama's home, and a lifetime of memories. Your sweet video gave me direction and ideas of the types of personal items I could save (besides pictures, obviously) to honor each of my family members. I wanted to do something special for each of them individually to keep for myself, and then pass along eventually to my two children.

I lost my oldest brother 7 years ago and that just about did us ALL in. He and I had gotten closer b4 he passed, because I was taking him for all his cancer treatments. So we were very close also!! This made me think of and miss my mom so much. She’s been gone almost 12 years. I’m 46, but I as her only child and would have loved for someone to do something like that for me. I don’t even have any of her ashes. Her death was so overwhelming to my step-dad that he didn’t realize that I was hurting too, I don’t blame him at all for not thinking of things like giving me some ashes for a keepsake; he had lost the love of his life. Bit slowly through the years he has passed on to me a few things of hers and I cherish them and cry every time I get something new. So many memories and even smells of her, even after all of these years.

As someone who has lost several loved ones in the past few years I absolutely love this and you did a wonderful job. I agree with your sister about the butterflies. I had a spiritual encounter with butterflies when I was in boot camp. I was on the rifle range waiting for my turn. I was missing my family something bad. Everything around me was olive drab and brown colors. No flowers, no birds, no butterflies just trees and dirt. I love trees but I wanted to see beautiful, vibrant colors of nature. As I was sitting there waiting, I was praying and talking to God in my mind. Then out of nowhere these 3 bright yellow butterflies fluttered all around me as if they were wrapping something around me and I instantly felt peace and I heard a voice say, " Everything is going to be alright". Then the butterflies flew away. Since then in stressful or dark situation, I'll see a butterfly and then I feel God's peace and I'm reminded, Everything's going to be alright.

God Bless You, Kelly. I said a prayer for You. You are a Wonderful Sister and A Very Wonderful AUNTY to Your Beautiful Nieces and Nephew. Your Sister was Beautiful just as You are too. I do know the GREAT PAIN OF LOSS!! From 2002, We lost Our Dad to cancer that He had for many, many years. Our Sister passed away in Aug. of 2004 after a battle with a horrendous rare disease that eventually becomes Leukemia, a blood cancer. Then lastly, and for My Family of My Husband, My Other Son and Myself the most devastating death and 3 months after My Sister passing, Our 18 year old Son, Sean took His Life. Of course, for Us that has and somedays is still so very hard to cope with. Anyway, this is not about Us but I do understand Your Tremendous loss and Your grief also. That was why I prayed for You immediately.

Kelly, it was wonderful to see how much you care about your nieces and nephew and how much you cared about your sister. I understand about your struggle with the ashes Deena. I have my mom, dad, and my best friend all in an antique secretary desk curio, The best part is my Mom and Dad are both together in a plain Blackburn's jelly jar, unless you really look it just looks like all the other nic naks that I have collected over the years. I was my father's wish after my mom passed away that he be with her and that we not spend more money than necessary to facilitate his interment. He asked for a Mason jar but we thought that the jelly jar was more his style.
Kelly, be strong. The pain never goes away but the way we deal with it evolves. I lost my parents within 8 months of each other and although that is now over 12 years ago, some days it feels like yesterday. You are blessed by those that we choose to surround us, and it sounds like you are blessed everyday. Keep up the good work! I love your videos!

I lost my first husband and he was cremated. What I learned is that if you feel it in your heart, than it is the right thing to do. You did the right thing and what a great tribute to her. Remember, when you see a butterfly, it will carry your message to your loved one in heaven.

I lost my brother 3 weeks ago, unexpectedly as well. I just couldn't watch the whole video but what a precious and loving idea. He left his 17 son who is to graduate high school this year. What a beautiful way to honor your sister. We all have had losses. I think it’s important to talk about. It’s healing. These are excellent ideas to implement into remembering those we have lost. Thank you so much for this video! I just lost my mom on April 30,2023. She was my everything and we have never been apart from one another. I’m 54 y/o never married or had children. Our lives where taking care of each other. So dealing with her being gone has been quite an adjustment. Being a crafter myself I have had the hardest time thinking of how to plan her celebration of life. Im so thankful and feel so blessed for coming across your video. Thank you so much! ❤

I think the box you made for her ashes is beautiful & personal to her unlike the urns. I love the memory boxes you made for your nephew & nieces, they will treasure those & so very thoughtful of you to make . This shows how much you truly loved your sister & her children . If I could I would take your pain away or give you that gift to have a final conversation with your beautiful sister.
