  • Changzhi, Shanxi, was known as Lu'an Prefecture in the Ming Dynasty. The landmarks of Changzhi are Lu'an Prefecture City God Temple and Lu'an Prefecture Yamen Shangdang Gate. Lu'an City God Temple is located in Miaodao Lane, Changxing Middle Road, Changzhi City, and is the largest and best-preserved city god temple in the country. The temple was built for the worship of the city god, who is the god of guarding the city in ancient myths and legends. The Lu'an Prefecture City God Temple was built in 1285, more than 700 years ago.
The Shangdang Gate was the gate of the ancient Shangdang County Office, which was built during the Kaihuang period of the Sui Dynasty. It was rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty, with the addition of a bell and drum tower, and was the seat of the Lu'an Prefectural Office. Only the gate, the bell and drum towers, the two halls and the west garden remain, making Shangdang Gate a representative ancient building in Changzhi.
