I think the amazing thing about this episode is that, despite nothing dramatic happening, the slow pacing and just utter melancholy of the situation really REALLY hits you and makes you emotional. Seriously impressive work by everyone in the studio.
The Manga is really good and so far the adaptation has been great. Its not just a romance anime, there's a lot more to it than that. Could easily be one of the sleeper hits this season.
my only issue with the adaptation is that they left out quite a bit of the humour of the manga. it's good and i understand they're different mediums so certain things simply cannot translate across, but kiyoka especially is missing a lot of his funnier expressions and is a bit colder in the anime. compare the most recent episode of the anime (episode five) with the manga chapter it's adapted from (chapter 12).
I was waiting for your reaction. :) And I think you'll be a bit surprised about her family dynamics. I want to see the next episode for them to talk to each other because the VA for both of the MC are amazing. Her voice is so soothing and his is "oh, this is a strong man", lol.
Rusty: I got a sneaky suspicion about her father knowing that Kudou is a kind caring person, the rumours are untrue, so wanted her to have the best life to make up for the mistreatment of her and him making up for being too spineless in standing up for her. Just a theory though. haha
The composer for this anime is my favourite, Evan Call! Thanks to Violet Evergarden that made his name getting much more attention. I'm gonna listen full of his album when it's released on Spotify
Amy: when i found out he was the same composer for Violet Evergarden, i knew immediately how powerful and impactful the music in the show was going to be.

I read the frickin manga after this. Y tf am I always like this.... I watch the 1st ep and then can't hold back and read the manga. A vicious cycle
Rusty: I know what you mean. After Season 4 part 1 of Attack on Titan finished, I couldn't wait a whole year for Part 2 and had to read the manga.
Hopefully they explain in the next episode WHY the step-mom is so vindictive towards her... it's actually something very real, unfortunately.
Yeah, I get what you're saying. We just watched episode 2 and kind of theorised some things.
Read this A while ago and yeah everything well get clearer
@@SliceOfRustronamy yeah I think they're slowly going to reveal it. Let's see, looking forward to your reaction of the episode.

I'm glad you stick to JP audio. The english dub really doesn't fit the character.
JP all the way! haha
huh? the dub for this one isn't really bad tho?
Hy manga readers don't you dare to give spoiler
Amy: Yessss no spoilies pleaseeeee 🥹
