    Hmmmm, this is not really Arabic, i usually hear these type of melodies in western documentaries about the middle east, but it is not true, the Arabic melodies and scale is totally different and much nicer. in summary the arabic scale made of tone, half and quarter tone, quarter tone not is the back bone of the Arabic scales.
    you have piano to play Arbic melodies and quarter notes, this is wrong as the piano can not play quarter note, unlike the violin which can, therefore we do not hear piano in any Arabic song unless its written in major or minor scale.
    anyway nice try, keep going.

      You're generally not wrong, but he did repeatedly call it "that eastern feel" - this isn't a tutorial about making authentic Arabic music...

    • @mazor13
      @mazor13 6 років тому +3

      I gave you a thumbs up for your comment but lets be honest he said eastern. As a westerner this scale reminds me of the middle east because of our media. Love to see a video helping to create real Arabian music if you could do it. This still works for raw trap drops... But man id really like simple logic for real Arabian melody. I doubt its simple tho lol.

    • @ruthlessadmin
      @ruthlessadmin 6 років тому +3

      @@mazor13 Just to be sure, at 0:27 (not to mention the video title) he specifically uses the word "sounding" - "That middle eastern/Arabic sounding trap". To me that implies "don't expect this to be a tutorial on authentic Arabic/Eastern music".
      But yea - it's not so easy because they use an entirely different base tuning. I've researched it only enough to know that for my project, I don't need to get that in-depth lol
      Cheers.

      Actually three of the scales he mentioned ARE arabic or more accurately are part of arabic music since there are scales common to many musics. The guy didn't use any quarter notes scales for obvious reasons. And by the way many melodies of western documentaries/movies use Hijaz scales for middle eastern/arabic themes.
      At 2:10 this is scale C - Hijaz Kar
      حجاز كار
      At 5:22 This is the famous scale Hijaz C
      حجاز no idea how you didn't recognize it
      The one at 7:25 in arabic music is called Ajam - Kurd (C) (or if you want Major-Kurd) عجم كرد
      if you are curious and don't have any music background you can check them here ( you will need to specify for each scale the first and the 2nd half scales. Main Hijaz is the same as Hijaz Kurd. This website is missing the ٍSiga family)
      awtar.me/
      note: the link is mainly for arabic speakers

    “Arabic scale” he said
    Bro there is 20 different eastern scales which is really called “Meqamat” if not more
    And you can’t lay them down on fl piano role
    Cuz it doesn’t have the half-semi tone
    Or the quarter tone
    You can get a plugin I think that supports this feature
    Or you can just record your melody on your Oud or tanbur live
    Then add some fresh trap drums with some 808s and halftime
    And your done

    Thanks

    • @IVTheFourth
      @IVTheFourth  8 років тому +3

      You might be able to use it as is, or you could try using a pitch adjustment plugin (like Newtone in Fl Studio) to change any notes that don't sound right with the eastern sound you want. I'd suggest keeping the root as F.

      Thanks

    • @IVTheFourth
      @IVTheFourth  8 років тому

      You can use chords with these scales. I find it a bit more tricky to get something that sounds good than with major/minor, but with some playing around you can get some great sounding progressions. Try out a 1 4 2 6 1 in the Phrygian Dominant scale, or listen to Dharma by Headhunters & KSHMR for an example.

    hello nice to hear those scales the Arabic is called Maqam Hijaz and in the middle east there are many scales which can be used on semitone keyboard but the Arabic Maqams or scales depends on their region how they scale the tones to decrease a key to 1/4 tone or slightly more on the original instruments also this Hijaz can be played and tuned to 1/4 tone on its key if the root note is C so we can decrease the key B and keep the semitone as it is ,it is a mistake to change the keyboard to a quarter-tone mode - you can use a plugin called Easren One which has a knob to change a required key on the keyboard
    ,I noticed you used too much the mod wheel .cheers

    There is no such thing as "THE arabic scale".
    At 5:22 This is scale (Maqam) Hijaz C
    the one at 2:10 where you have B4 instead of A#4 is scale C - Hijaz Kar
    the one at 7:00 is 99.999% NOT arabic
    The one at 7:25 in arabic music is called Ajam - Kurd (C) (or if you want Major-Kurd)
    and the last one is obviously east asian as you said :)

      Scale Ajam Kurd is very rare so I don't have any song in mind.
      Note: the way arabic scales work goes like this. There are 9 main scales/families or so, then from these scales you can make combinations. For example Hijaz Kar above is actually Hijaz - Hijaz

    Arabic scales contains half flats and half Sharps even quarters
    Its not as simple.
    Most Arabic instruments has no frets

    You pump out videos like nobody's business dude, and I appreciate the hard work...but I mean, good fuck lol....the tchami suggestion would be awesome tho, so hard to achieve

      Haha, I am publishing a lot of videos right now. After the mixing series things will slow down to about 1-2 videos per week instead of 1+ every day.
      I did a quick attempt at a Tchami style bass-lead; can you let me know if it's close enough to warrant a tutorial?
