This is because of the indoctrination of anti-semitism lurking behind every corner. It is the brainwashing and western propaganda meant to allow Israel to continue their occupation and genocidal behaviour. But there are people who genuinely believe in this and so are afraid. Norman Finklestein famously rebuked this during a lecture and called out their "crocodile tears". Feelings are hurt for real but compared to the slaughter of tens of thousands of children, I think we have to put much more weight on the latter.
