Hearts 2nd isn't even offside. The lines are angled. You can see that the 18 yeard box line is straight across the screen and the lines are tilted left to right. The distance between line and box at the far end is less than the closer end. Thre penalty wasn't a penalty and should have been a hearts Free kick, and the referee should have been smart enough to know that kicking someone in the face with your studs is a straight red without the VAR check.

Anybody saying Hearts shouldn't have got a pen... Are you not noticing it comes off 2 players arms? Iwata might not have known much about his, even then shouldn't have arms flailing about in the box when the balls in the air. But Johnston defo knew about his, he watched the ball come in, took his eye off it, went for the header & completely missed then the ball came off his elbow, on to Iwata's elbow. Can't surely be claiming neither of them were a handball? And anybody saying the red shouldn't be because he was flicking the ball over his head? Nope, that's what he tried to do but made no connection with the ball, the ball comes off the top of Cochranes head, Yang boots his head instead of the ball. If he had got the ball & missed Cochrane, might have been yellow for the high boot, hence why that's what was first given. But once the ref sees no contact was made on the ball & Cochrane got a boot to the face, he has no other choice but red. The same way making contact with the ball matters in most challenges... But Celtic getting a pen for their player barging in & falling over as a result, with no contact made? Absolute shambles of a decision.
Spot on about the handball it clearly hits both of the arms and they are both in unnatural positions not in silhouette so no matter who handled first its a handball as the rules state. The handball rules might be nonsense but they arer applied properly here and not sure why the press seem so adamant it wasn't
Iwata's arm is not in an unnatural position because his own player barges into him in mid-air, so his arm comes out to balance himself.
Go over the park with your mates ,jump in the air, and get your mate to push you from behind, and i bet your arms come out. It's a natural human reflex reaction.

I didn't say it never hit both players on the arm. My point was that all this unnatural arm position was wrong regarding Iwata due to his own player barging into him in mid-air.

I’m not a Celtic fan - but please can we all agree these VAR/officials inconsistencies are ruining the game. It feels after every match we’re all bitter one way or another about decisions that in one game are acceptable and others aren’t.
Aye. In these highlights alone we had a Non-sense Red Card, Non-sense Penalty given to Hearts, a Non-sense Offside against Hearts, and a Non-sense Penalty given to Celtic. Football is deep down the drain.
Completely agree. I wouldn’t have awarded either penalty but there was a case for the Celtic player getting his leg in front and it being taken from under him. The Hearts one was ridiculous though. Especially as it’s gone to VAR. The Celtic player didn’t move unnaturally to the ball as his motion was a result of being pushed, and furthermore the ball wasn’t moving toward goal so he wasn’t blocking a shot. The red card was obscenely bad officiating. Yellow was appropriate for high foot and unintentional contact. It’s encouraging to see underdogs get results against the giants, and then you see how they got them. The Celtic manager has every right to complain. When the VAR official is incapable of officiating without deep seated bias, the whole league becomes a mere theatrical formality. That said, Hearts still had a job to do and executed well but I’ve rarely seen such biased refereeing.
I hope all the clubs, and I mean all, can put aside the rivalries and unite for some changes to how VAR is being handled

Drops to hit iwata now if the ref thinks it hasn't hit johnston then its hit iwata in exactly the same position. Handball rules are stupid as written but if not in sillhouette or natural position and it hits your hand its a penalty. It wasn't s short range shot it fell out of the sky from a corner so i can't see the argument here other than that handball rules are dumb as written but VAR enforce the rules not write them

Beaton doesn’t make any decisions he only suggests the ref to look at the incident again. The referee made the calls for both pens and the red.

The Iwata handball was definitely a handball and a penalty. Dont know why anyone would think differently.
He had his arm outstretched, making his body unnaturally bigger, and taking the risk of the ball contacting his arm.

The penalty awarded to Celtic on the other hand, is the most clear cut evidence you will see of referee bias in Scotland.

Sending off is correct. No malice agreed but if you apply the rules the way everyone else has got then definitely a red card. Celtics penalty is a disgraceful decision. Celtic player runs into and across the Hearts defender and throws himself down. Kyogo got an even worse one previously against Hearts too. Hearts penalty for handball wasn’t a penalty imo. So much conflicting and contradictory decision making around penalties at the moment. This week alone St Mirren and Rangers denied blatant handballs yet the referee awarded this one? Celtic are refereed to a different standard, in Europe the rules apply because the ref's are not intimidated by your support in Scotland ref's are terrified for themselves and their families.
It's all been done before and your support and indeed your manager do not have the sportsmanship to accept a decision against your team.
When Roofe committed the same tackle I would find it impossible to find a Celtic fan to say it was a yellow, it was a red and so was yesterday's foot to the head.
The Morelos goal and the Roofe goal chopped off in the OF were goals and Celtic benefitted from those decision's.
Your team has been helped for year's by the SPFL, SFA and officials but even when a legitimate penalty or red card is awarded against you it's meltdown time because of your inflated entitlement.

contact is irrelevant for a red card its endangering an opponent with high feet and given he just about took his face off clearly that criteria was met. yangs boot does not to be shoulder height for any reason even if instinctual he knows it and barely complains leaving the field. Not the worst challenge but just because he didn't take the players face off didn't mean he couldn't do so

intent/malice are the same thing and irrelevant shawcross didn't mean to snap ramseys leg in half but he did.. keeping your eye on the ball doesn't matter when your opponents head is in between and he lifts his foot head heightso if his studs say catch his eye he might not be able to see hence why your foot shouldn't be up there. in football your feet never need to be that high off the ground he could have just literally used his head and stayed ont he field. He knows immediately he is going and is surpsied only to be booked at first look at the players as the ref comes over
