    As someone who played GW2 long before starting GW1, the mission in GW1 where you went to a backwater swamp with a glowing sapling in it tended by a Centaur and a human blew me away when I realized this sapling will one day grew to be The Pale Tree, and this swampy corner in the middle of nowhere will become The Grove, the gigantic, magical city all my GW2 Sylvari will eventually be born in.

      Which hurts when you see the original story for Heart of Thorns where it's revealed Ronan knew there were more seeds that created Sylvari.

    Another instance of this I noticed is in the dungeon Ascalonian Catacombs. All the bosses you fight in it are profession trainers from pre-searing Ascalon.

    Several notable ones off the top of my head that weren't mentioned: Joko, Livia, Lazarus, M.O.X., Koss, Tahlkora, and Devona. There are a lot of others in the form of risen, ghosts, Revenant legends, and holograms. In non-active forms there are all sorts in statue form and mentions in books. GW2 definitely hasn't forgotten it's roots.

    There is a statue of Pyre Fierceshot in Plains of Ashford too, one of the many charrs Gwen hated (Referred as "Little mouse" by him)

    well, other major returning characters could even be koss (in istan), dunkoro (in the desolation), nika (at the top of kaineng's jp), practically almost all revenant's legends, the herald of balthazar is actually devona (another henchman), there's the ghost of danika in echovald forest, you could also see a glimpse of gwen's ghost at the beginning of wing 5. there's also few seconds of screentime of the pale tree at the end of gw eotn... aaand many others like livia or galrath

    The revenant channels people that can be found in the first Guild Wars; Shiro Tagachi, Ventari, Mallyx the Unyielding, Jalis Ironhammer, Glint. And Saint Viktor and Archemorus are talked about and their weapon and ashes can be welded in the first Guild Wars. The pale tree is in the first Guild Wars as well.

    Good run down so far, I guess Livia & a few of the Nightfall heroes should probably be here. Another one of my fav was to see Nika at the end of the New KN JP. Though I have to say of all the characters from GW1, I was always hoping to see Mhenlo again just for the lolz.

    omg Gwen, well that explains that awkward moment when logan and rytlock got to the camp at dragonfall and the dialog there 😂😂😂😂 hooboy
    edit: PLEASE do more of this type of videos! ive played like a handful of hrs of gw1 ages ago and got absolutely nowhere, but its soooooo interesting to look at the lore of tyria. at amnytas i spent ridiculous amount of time reading all the plaques at the natural museum, and read all the books at one of the libraries. it resulted me into looking up in the wiki some of tge characters/history mentioned, which avtually led me to the guild wars ONE wiki, and hoo boy it was just such a rabbit hole moment. waaaaaay too cool

    Thanks that was awesome. I wonder if Razah will return to SoTO seeing as how he's a demon. I loved him as a ritualist hero in GW1.

    Galrath the Undying in Secrets of the Obscure is a reference to the swordsmanship skill Galrath Slash in GW1 :)

    • @eMKayJR
      @eMKayJR 8 місяців тому +4

      More - Villainy of Galrath is actually one of the 1st "Elite" and most known quests in Guild Wars Prophecies (and one of the very first quests implemented the game), where you have to stop actual Galrath from uncovering the secrets of the Wizard's Tower. Supposedly we kill him, but in SoTO we find out he has been taken by the wizards court to serve them :P Villainy of Galrath is famous for requiring a very long travel to Wizard's Tower location (which in GW1 is importand, since it was a hub based, instanced game).

    There are lot of Ascalon ghosts from GW1, and there are two Heros more on the palawas joko's desert. Ah, even Palawa is a returning character.

    So, Kanaxai is a Kryptis, that´s true, but Oni aren´t Kryptis, they are Demons, but they are Demons roaming the mist. Kanaxai found them and leaded them, but there not the same kind

    All of the human gods are just powerful celestial beings and I do believe their power is vastly overhyped by themselves.

    • @ryltair
      @ryltair 8 місяців тому

      Not just overhyped by themselves, but by the humans who worship them as well.

    • @nielsjensen4185

      @@ryltair And the players as well. If they were that powerful then they could easily have beaten the Elder Dragons into submission and I think the reason they fled is shown in Balthazar's defeat.
      He never really dies, he just stops existing as the energy that was him gets absorbed by Kralkatorrik. All the other gods must have been energy beings as well and even in the unlikely event that they defeated an Eldar Dragon they could be so weakened that they would be unable to maintain their structural integrity in front of that vacuum.
      The events of Elona is also geologically impossible to have happened the way they describe. Raising the landmass would have created earthquakes that would have destroyed everything yet every mountain in the region is intact, even a thousand years of erosion would be unable to erase the sort of vertical geological damage. For the dwarves in Desert Highlands, it would have been a cataclysmic event that would surely have been reported on as they would be able to feel them severely even if they were far away from the epicenter.
      There's also no way the fish skeletons in Desert Highland would have survived a thousand years of erosion unless they were preserved by magic.
      And oh look, the human "gods" have a celestial being of illusions and another one of nature magic in their roster.
      I would in no way be surprised if one of the coming expansions were the gods returning to claim what they saw as theirs (they've already engaged directly in at least two instances of manifest destiny and one of them was a straight-up genocidal event of colonialism) and our ally is Kormir who finally realised the truth about the gods, that they were never good, they were just benevolent, and benevolence is conditional.

    Thats one of the main problems I see with Guild Wars 2, there are a lot of lore moments, some of them mind blowing, that are linked back to Guild Wars. All of which are totally lost on those, like myself, who had never played the original game. Have fixed that with watching lots of lore videos. There's that and then there's new players who come to the game thinking GW2 is a traditional MMO in which only the latest expansion is the only content to play with all previous content being obsolete. I'm seeing a lot of players with very low mastery points in Secrets of the Obscure, by ignoring all story and content from previous expansions and living worlds they're missing out on so much :-(
