Seriously though, Genshin Impact is a (mostly) single-player JRPG with very limited co-op features, while Tower of Fantasy is literally an MMORPG from the start. They're not even in the same genre. It's like claiming that Stellaris is a direct competition with Eve Online. They're both space games, so one must be a killer of the other? How ridiculous.

@Gigabruh I mean I just think it’s bad sign. It depends how literal the company meant. If they only took it down due to backlash then ehh. Last time a company claimed to be a killer it didn’t end well. But the game has potential, if they don’t fixate on being a better Genshin. That will hopefully come naturally as they establish their mechanics and story. I’m hoping they can continue against the fans who are angry for no reason and become something that’s unique.

Pro Tip for every genshin Player: Dont rush sumeru and get everything within a week take some time and play someth like tof or what ever you like touching Grass then you got something to do over some time.Its okay not to do your commision if you dont feel like it or doing an event bc youre dont want to.
Another Tipp. If you want some challange dont build your Characters to do like 1mil damage.
Thing with Genshin is, events and limited time missions. I left the game 6 months ago, came back and saw that i had only 70 primos, and left again bc i ain't doing missions to finally play the events.
Event missions being story-locked is totally stupid imo, why do i have to play a mission that is totally unrelated to the event to unlock it? you get it? it feels like a job at this point

@@Sac-chan the quests are generally linked lore wise to the prerequisite quests they require though. Unless you're a dialogue skipper you'd know that. They also implemented a quick start feature to help with that, but it's would be quite difficult to have someone play golden apple without having any knowledge of the Inazuma story line etc etc.

Saying the gacha is the same when one have a pity that don't reset, telling matrix are the same as artefact when one don't have random stat, telling zeke en va is low budget when its a well know anime voice actor... Or comparing the elmental reaction (mostly needed in abyss or bosses) to a combat with trash mobs in open world etc... where is the accurate part in it ?

So far as someone who is max rank and never lost a streak in Genshin, ToF HAS a different feeling than Genshin such as it’s combat gameplay, people absurdly compare both because of the similar style while their genre are different.
One being a fast clearing exploration gacha and the other one being a literal MMO with PvP, only thing noticeable is the budget TOF has, having junky animation that I skip cutscenes because how bad they are, models that they bought from assets store (to even have a drama from using a model that belongs to a game from the same company as Genshin) or missing voice line in some scene.
On my own experience on TOF : ennemies takes a long time to kill, world bosses taking more than 10 minutes to beat even if you’re a team of 7 players, the dodges system being very hard to trigger, on positive note SSR character/weapon are easily obtainable and gameplay feels nice to play.
I do really hope they evolve into something different than Genshin despite the comparisons and the income they make that aren’t mainly from their home country
Yeah the voice acting sucks and it's heavily INSPIRED by a lot of games, but the combination of those is quite fun and enjoyable as of now

It will give their product huge initial boost of popularity but for the longevity, they have to actually keeps the player hooked by providing good product. Gameplay aspect, you can separate both game as they have different genre and enjoyment. I do have to say that ToF is THE mobile anime-style mmorpg that gamers (especially mobile gamer) have been waiting for a long time. Tof definitely offers a lot of things that other anime-style Mmo's doesn't have.
I'm glad you are neutral and shit on both games, Genshin has several issues with content besides of the story, resin and artifact grinding, but ToF isn't a masterpiece at all, it has serious poor history and character development, clunky animations, lag and bugs, P2W unfair mechanics as the PVP, the highly questionable """inspiration""" they used from other games, and the fanbase being one of the most toxic ones I have dealt with recently, ofc this would happen when the majority of your fanbase is based of burnt out Genshin players that don't play the game cuz they had liked it but to stop supporting Genshin, we just have to look at how Tectone is behaving recently to notice that many of the players are simply like an angry ex

Played tof for a while and I think it isn't as bad as people say it was (at least for me) The graphic is good enough and gameplay isn't that bad. I did uninstalled it a day after tho because both genshin and tof took a lot of my laptop's space :') I need to choose one. Some things I could point out are how laggy the game was (honestly probably due to my device) and the fact it crashes several times for me at first lol but it's all good later. I also don't need to wait even a minute to get into the game like what others said. The story isn't that interesting but isn't horrible too. The interface is more complicated than genshin tho. Genshin's is simpler and pleasant to look at. However, the thing that bother me the most is the fact I can't feel anything for the characters. Like, for me they're just there. At least in genshin I could feel a connection between me and the characters. Idk it's probably because I haven't play it that much yet and the fact it's a new game. Definitely not a 'genshin killer' but I do wish I could play it a little bit more tho
Resin system is pretty good. Like I hate farming and resin stops me from doing it. Like if there was no resin system I wouldn't even have engaged with half the mechanics of the game. It's more so a a resource management than a grind and is the one thing keeping the game balanced.
Just think of it as the weapon durability from breath of the wild or the small inventory of resident Evil games. You may not like it, but there is a a really good reason for it.

I gave it a try mostly out of curiosity about the customisation and vehicles, but it was so strongly marketed in comparison to Genshin that i, like you, didnt even know it was an MMORPG until i reached the point in the game where other players suddenly started showing up. Im not a fan of co-op at all, i just dont do it playing Genshin so finding out i was forced to in this killed any interest that hadnt died after i learned you could only customise for free the first time and that the game was buggy as hell 😅

For anyone feeling burnt out from genshin but still wants to play it: you don’t have to play every single day, I spent a week without playing and I started feeling better, since sumeru also released I had something new to do. Everyone looks for different things in games in order to consider them entertaining, and I personally love genshin for the looks. I don’t need every single character to deal 3k per hit, I do what is necessary in order to not make the game stressful and voila! An enjoyable genshin experience to explore and vibe to the music.

I’ve been doing something similar by only playing a few hours a week. The last few months I’d play almost every day for a couple hours and I realized I’ll eventually get burnt out. Fontaine is also releasing in a few months so I don’t want to be so burnt out that I hate playing through it or just avoid it altogether. I still log back in every day to collect some primos and then do something besides Genshin for the day.
ToF really banked on Genshin's popularity, but it'll be at higher risk of being forgotten if they don't keep up (or at least...be famous in East Asia but not in the West). Fortunately some games don't fall completely
e.g. Nioh never really marketed itself as a "Dark Souls killer" (considering that it shares Dark Souls elements like booby traps, stamina for rationing between offense and defense, reading motions, etc.), and one reason why it's a niche-but-identifiable series is that it literally turns into a Ninja Gaiden with Souls elements when you get everything checked out...all while not really sabotaging nor attempting to make Souls games look bad.

I played Tof and got a lot of weapons with skins, but I quit. The world is huge, but empty, and even I got tired of collecting free pulls on the map after a month. I was on vacation at the time and cleaned everything up to the desert to get outfits for my hero. And that's it, I'm tired of it. The game is cool and I understand those who stayed, but I like singleplayer games more

Well, many people expecting more stimuli like longer cutscenes and actual fights not some boring texts. They forgot that genshin is a Casual Exploration gacha game. THEY ARLEADY HAVE HONKAI FOR THAT FFS-

@@Nick-tz3ke ye I really like Casual games like Genshin as I don’t feel the need to always keep up, I don’t even roll for characters that much and use the starter team at AR55 and more importantly I really like lore and I feel like Hoyoverse is doing a pretty good job with it recently after they learn their lessons for Inazuma, story quests are additional for me and on my alt I barely did any while still having enough primos to get 5* I want, most characters(including NPCs) are enjoyable while also being slightly annoying but they add to the charms yk, recent events are nice as well, I don’t think Hoyoverse is gonna screw themselves up by adding lore important bits in a very short event without making it up in the future by either adding short cutscenes/characters dialogues that implies it in a more bigger story event/archon quest, they aren’t that dumb lol, so I think I shouldn’t worry much
yeah same lol while i feel the burn out every few months i just keep coming back, i love the characters and character quests, i love the worldbuilding and lore, i've really enjoyed most of the event stories they've given us so far and. idk i'm just having fun with the game, if i ever don't feel like playing i just take a break for a few weeks or even months. no point in turning the game into a chore, really

tbh i actually wish there was an ''genshin killer'' so genshin can squeeze theyre ass checks , be serious, and make theyre game with less annoying storyline with how npc nr 69 got an more complex storyline than a gacha character that one person could pay 200 dolars for it but okay hoyoverse.

I actually enjoyed TOF a lot, but since I wanted the T5, I kinda explored the whole map in about a month or less (Gosh, it was so long ago, maybe it took only a week, LOL) and I didn't understand the story at all or felt attracted by the characters. The only character I was in love with was myself, because my man got very handsome and I loved him very much XD
That being said, it can be very good, it just need some upgrades here and there. If it was easier to understand all the tabs, the story and everything else, I could play it as much as I played Genshin. I hope it gets better and become more successful, because I kinda miss my character XD The exploration (that dash in the air was amazing) and the character construction were perfect, I loved it

I'm actually enjoying ToF rn, but it's just my way to take a break through genshin burn out and also to feel freshness through other games as well, ToF is actually really fun, you could just play however you want and still get carried by whales, the only thing that I don't particularly like is indeed the story plotting and polishing of the game, it still has some annoying bugs all around

I've just come to the conclusion that they both suck and I'll probably end up continuing to play Genshin, and eventually starting Tower of Fantasy.
The game failed in it's own country of origin, it didn't even make it to top 50 in the Chinese app store. The dev are really putting all their hopes into the global release, but with how little passion and polish the game gets I doubt it will stay relevant for long.

I find genshin combat pretty boring tbh, the combat in tof is fucking janked as fuck some dodges need to be earlier and there's an issue of ping as well, but you know what, its alot more fun than pressing one button and killing everything, press one button and become invincible (why even dodge when you have zhongli lmao lmao), tof combat is fun, janked, but atleast you have more to play with and you kinda get used to the jankiness (atleast that's what I think)
The only gripe I have is that 4 stars is just dogshit (probably has uses in pvp), and some weapon animations are just awkward, but you kinda get used to it
If you really wanted a good combat anime gacha with a monster of a phone just play Punishing Grey Ravens

And then decided..

So waited for arknight update in 18 aug, and pull for goldenglow.

Tbh the main character customization is something that tof has that genshin doesn’t. surely character dresses are good but it’s sad how we, the travelers doesn’t get to customize our outfits. The only thing that got me back is sumeru and the seelie event
that was funny but i still dont know how people still end up playing tower of fantasy, the problem is the need to get e6 characters, and normal e6 doesnt work for finishing operations with others let alone for a single player to do it , as a weak player people will simply send ya out of the team or something and you barely do a single operation 7 lol that makes you never do a real progress, simply it needs money to be able to get there, i ended up quitting after that

So even if Xiangling is a great cook, either u dump Raiden for Xiangling because Xiangling can cook, if cooking is that important to u, or you get over the fact that Raiden will never be able to cook and enjoy her for what she is able to do. Same goes for Xiangling, if u do dump Raiden for not being able to cook, don't expect Xiangling to kick ass while charging up the entire team. Gotta figure out what u actually want and not look for a game that can do everything because such a game doesn't exist. If it did, nobody would be arguing. Also, to those saying they can play 4 games at once, good for u. A lot of people 'dump' games because they burn out, don't have the time to juggle, or just plain can only play one game at a time. I think I belong to the latter so if I find a new time, I'll probably drop the last game so I don't dump games as easily because it's hard for me to get deep enough in a game to begin with. I know people throw around phrases like "honeymoon phase" I guess for each person, suspension of dissatisfaction and how long that honeymoon phase lasts is different. Unlike with ur girlfriend, there is no "marriage" with a game. u can dump it anytime u like without any moral issues. so I seriously don't see why anybody has to hate any one game. maybe there's just a really loud group of people making a big deal of it online and the silent crowd is actually really big and well, silent, so all we hear is noise?
