  • Continuing in my series of covers from Dokken's 'Under Lock and Key' album, here's my take on 'It's Not Love'.
    Again, super tight riffs and grooves! The solo tapping part is a bitch and I haven't manage to be fully satisfied yet but here's my best shot!...the after solo noodling is improvised.
    Maybe 'The Hunter' is next!

    Shame this skill seems to be a dying breed :/ and how many people actually know who Dokken is?

      Yeah man. Hopefully it can undergo some kind of revival, but you're right! Dokken is still underrated and rock music seems to continue to lose its prestige for now.

    Such a killer riff! What about the solo at the end? Lol, so awesome. Always loved this song. Kinda reminds me of Ted Nugent’s “Stranglehold”…another badazz riff. Check it out. 😊 ua-cam.com/video/FkdjHhqEN6g/v-deo.htmlsi=B7lB6z-hfMJ5VO9g

      Yeah I skipped the end solo. Those end solos of George are sometimes a pain to learn. They're mostly improvised and super raw with some weird flurries of notes. And doing it at the end in one take is a super high chance of fucking up and having to record the whole song again haha.

    Great cover, but I wish more people gave some love to the outro solo! So catchy, but even the official tab book (which is pretty damn accurate) just gives up at certain sections of that solo as it's so tough to replicate.

      @@xavierl.sanacore6188 I agree haha, I can play that outro solo for the most part but there's a couple parts that just aren't tabbed out right and I cannot get them to sound right, I'm coming close but not quite there, mainly that quick little bending lick. Hopefully one day!

      Yup...you're right, some of them are actually talented but for the most part it's a cash grab...but it goes with the public. Rock has been flowing with money when it was popular also but it's been a while now! Sadly, good musicians aren't making as much as they should.

    If you feel like it some time when you're bored, and get inspired, drop of vid taking on Too High Too Fly and/or Hole In My Head. 40 years of Lynch and still faves. The tone George grabbed on those songs were insane.

      @@xavierl.sanacore6188 Completely agree. It's one of the best kept secrets of the Dokken legacy. Kinda surprised it doesn't get talked about more. But then again, maybe a lot of fans don't take the time to listen into some of George's really cool extended soloing. We just loved the way the song, harmonies, soloing, tempo changes, and everything wove in and out. In some ways, it & Too High on the same album was a high point for the band. Kind of like the video/tone/sound/song composure/solo/solo pitch/outro guitar & song harmony intertwining end of Walk Away. That song was almost the slow burn exclamation point/period be all to end all hair metal ballads. There were a lot of great ballads, but that one left a mark. In our opinion.

    • @xavierl.sanacore6188
      @xavierl.sanacore6188  9 місяців тому

      @@RockDawg77 Absolutely. There's a lot of material from Dokken that people slept on. Like most band from this era they tried to adapt to the new trend that was setting in but they were not totally align with the shift. Their tone and flair was still too rock and glam I guess. They left their mark anyway! and some very good songs were composed at that time too.

      @@xavierl.sanacore6188 Just for sh!ts and grins, if you haven't seen this peformance, George really screams. The current Lynch Mob line up has really electrified his playing and brought some serious lightning into his fretwork. Pretty wicked cool stuff. The guy just keeps getting better and better. If he keeps adding more stuff to each song the way he's been approaching live peformances lately, every song is going to become a master class of metal guitar wizardry. Between him and Nuno, they're single-handedly carrying EVH's legacy forward the way it should be.
