Thanks for the review. Have been wondering how well this works, versus the varying reviews as you pointed out. By the way, the hole on the top allows you to create split points.
Let us know how you get on with it, it's saved us loads in terms of not buying drill bits, plus being able to re use is just so much better for the environment
Great review. Just received mine in the post. I think the wibbly-wobbly mechanism for holding the drill and collet in place is a bit of an issue - first go, the two sides of the point weren't the same. A couple of goes later it was ok, the trick being to put a little forward pressure on the collet to hold it flush with the housing. Without that, it'll move around and won't give a good grind/ balance.
I wouldn't know how to use a drill bit but I know those that do get VERY exasperated if they aren't sharp - so anything that stops exasperation is good in my book!
Hi mate, not a bad video. I just bought one exactly the same (but a different brand), and was having trouble reading the Chinese to English conversion of the instructions. One thing that you did miss (and I'm not being critical of your video) was after you sharpen the drill bit you need to place the 'chuck still holding the drill bit into the top opening (under the black cap) into the grooves and give it a couple of half rotations, turn the chuck 180 degrees and give it a couple of rotations. This is required so you get rid of the back edge of the drill bit which ensures the correct cutting of the drill in that the drill bit is not running high on the rear edge and allowing the cutting edge to bite in.
The top port is for Split Point drill bits - see the video on the official Sealey site on how it's used. You can put a split point on regular bits which have a relatively thin web but proper Split Point bits have quite a bit a thicker web which makes them more rigid for things like CNC machines 😉

yea we thought good value, and even better it actually works. It is still going strong after a project with A LOT of metal work... We've been updating the Blog with that one ... podpadstudios.blogspot.com/
First of all take your drill bi and using a file or a grind stone - get a rough point on the drill bit, then use the sealey tool to make a proper drill
Been using it pretty much daily since we bought it. (Master maker had kept EVERY Blunt drill bit he's ever used... there were A LOT of them, we are working through the draw...) and not showing any signs of wear - I guess you'd have to contact @sealeytools to find out more - but it's pretty cheap to replace.
Brilliant and your presentation was very good and well explained thank you.
Thanks for the feedback: you are so kind. No responsibilities here if anyone decides to build their own tanks 😏
Thanks for the video! Helped me to use the one at work
That looks handy and a better design than some others I've seen.
Such a useful gadget and still working
Looks like it does the trick thanx for review

Great review. Can you sharpen a broken bit with ?
First of all take your drill bi and using a file or a grind stone - get a rough point on the drill bit, then use the sealey tool to make a proper drill
How long does the stone last?

does it do stainless bits?
Yes
it changes the point so after sharpning u have to punch first
So it is a Drill Dr with a better wheel
Price
