- It's the friggin' big one man! Mt. Washington is the holy grail of East Coast backcountry skiing, and every time we go there it's a hell of an adventure. The crew found some good turns in April, and the returned in May to find some very different snow conditions. From guts and glory, to hot garbage; this installment of Promised Land truly is a showcase of East Coast variability, and its skiers' tenacity.

I grew up in Massachusetts. In February 1969, I think we went to school for about 3 days. Yes, it snowed a lot that winter.
Inj '69, there was so much snow that there was not a single rock above the tree line that was showing. Even Lunch Rocks didn't get exposed until mid-May. Even on Memorial Day weekend, you could ski from the top to the parking lot, uninterrupted. There was skiable terrain even in August! Sadly, those days are gone.

Pretty sure day 2 is tucks. Day 1 snow fields maybe?
Day 1 - Great Gulf (North Presidentials accessed from Cogg)
Day 2 - Boott Spur (Dodge's Drop and one of the other lines lookers left of Dodge's, then Hillman's highway)
I highly recommend getting Kurt's guide book "Presidential Skiing"
