    I love that Michael acknowledged that Christina really did care about Ruby lol Wunmi was in denial about their relationship. Once Christina said “the words may have come out of William’s mouth but they were mine” and Ruby stayed Ummm yea that’s it y’all in an official situationship 😂

    Whoopi Goldberg said she done a show that mentally took her years to get over. Michael B Jordan said the same thing. I use to think actors would do a scene no matter how heavy it was and it didn't affect them. LoveCraft Country was emotional for the actors as it was for us the viewer. Michael's left nothing on the table in episode 9 especially during his monolog. I imagine the set being very quiet as he read the names of some of the people who died during the Tulsa Massacre. I'm tearing up now just thinking about that stirring performance.

I've been waiting for black people to be shown in all types of genres...not just comedy or romance or slavery but science fiction, horror, suspense, and living in their own world with their truth instead of being a sidekick or an unimportant character to be discarded.

    People were sharing clips of Michael K. Williams sharing the personal impact of his character, Montrose. I needed to come back and watch the full interview again. The entire cast was superb. While watching the show I cried hard tears. I sat on the edge of my seat with my pillow and bowl of popcorn warning Leti and Atticus to watch out! I cheered for Diana. Ruby and Christina took me on a roller coaster ride and stilettos will never look the same way to me again. I wanted to be Hippolyta! Every episode was superb. Lovecraft Country is one of my favorite all-time television shows. This interview shows why this cutting-edge Black historical horror sci-fi touched us so deeply. The actors understood their assignment. This was more than saying your lines and using the proper facial expressions and inflections. They pulled from their Ancestral memories to bring these characters to life. I am grateful.

    Loved this but I find it really strange the way a lot of people view Tic and Jiah’s relationship as a fairytale and are able to overlook him killing her best friend, her only getting close to him to kill him in revenge and the whole violating him with her tails nearly killing him but then want to relagate Tic and Leti’s relationship to struggle love because he snapped at her a couple times during high stress situations which he acknowledged and corrected the behavior BTW, as if they have literally been fighting racist, monsters, ghost to stay alive all season long. No Leti didn’t get a movie date but she got a man that whenever anything goes down he makes sure she’s ok everybody else be damned, a man that jumped in front of a gun when it was cocked in Leti’s direction. When Leti told him her house was haunted he was right there even got possessed in the process. Tic was moments from death and all he was worried about was Leti didn’t even make eye contact with Ji-ah he literally fought to stay alive until he saw that she was safe but that that counts for nothing. Tic and Ji-ah’s was cute all 4 or 5 of it scenes but the way I see it over-hyped is puzzling that relationship could only work in that Korea bubble she came to his world (Chicago) and got her feelings hurt, then she was banished to the fam-zone.

    • @lumi2085
      @lumi2085 3 роки тому +3

      I agree with you.I wanted to like tic and leti but their interactions were written cold and most of the time they argued or disgreed.We barely saw them be affectionate.For example,when they were separating in tulsa they didn't hug or kiss nothing he just looked at her.
      With tic and ji-ah the writers took the time to write a love story and build up the relationship.
      We saw them connect with being monsters,they read books,had actual conversations.They didn't write tic and leti like that so most ppl gravitated towards the romanticized version of love.The way Jonathan looked,touched,loved on ji-ah he was never that way with jurnee.We noticed the difference in treatment and didn't like it.Black women deserved to be loved on and receive affection.Especially when leti was doing so much for him and to me that energy wasn't returned.Maybe it was his acting/directing b/c he didn't convince me he loved her.

    • @MsZaire
      @MsZaire 3 роки тому +16

      People are not taking into account that Tic and Jiah met when he was laid up in the hospital recuperating he had plenty of down time to plan dates and they got a episode that highlighted their relationship it was served up on a silver platter. Leti and Tic didn’t have that luxury they’ve been dealing with one life threatening situation after another in literally every episode. In episode one we saw Tic buy Leti the flower that she placed in her hair and he stared at her while she was asleep on his shoulder but moments later all hell broke loose, so I don’t doubt that we would have seen more of those moments if not for the circumstances. Tic and Leti had several tender moments more than he and Ji-ah considering we only saw them in about 5 scenes but Tic and Leti’s moments happened in the midst of the chaos so it wasn’t spoon fed. Do you honestly believe that if you swapped out Leti and put Ji-ah in Chicago episode 1 Tic would’ve been Mr. Romance with all he had going on? Yes they was a couple of episodes that he snapped on Leti but he never talked to her like he did Ji-ah in episode 8. Tic isn’t the same person that he was in Korea his love language has changed but I see his love for Leti in the way that he’s been willing to kill and die for her since episode 1, and in Ep 5 during the bathtub scene Tic knocked the walls he had up down, acknowledged his wrongs, acknowledged how his past relationship baggage took a toll on him and vowed to be better and when Leti said that growing up she felt love wasn’t special and that she didn’t want to to be with a man if it didn’t mean anything he looked her in the eye and told her that what they had was special and he wasn’t confused about it.

    • @veronicabrown3341
      @veronicabrown3341 3 роки тому +7

      @@MsZaire What most don’t think about is the trauma of his first love being a monster. How many men would open up like that again. He wanted Leti from the first time he laid eyes on her. Most people missed the scene where he bought the flower for her and Leti put in her hair and was sleeping on his shoulder, that alone was just as sensual as the interactions he had with Ji-ah. He admitted he didn’t know love even with Ji-ah. Both admitted they had skewed views of what love was to each of them. Tic also stayed in Chicago to protect Leti. In the haunted house scene it turns black behind him when he is watching her dance with another man. The coldness after their first time was well written also. His last scene Screaming “Where’s Leti” was all you needed to see who had his heart.

      Oh brother. Shippers and their tunnel vision. First off, if you don't think fairy tales are fucked up, you've only been seeing the Disney version and I encourage you to do some research on the original fairy tales, the blood and pain that is in them and the symbolism. Second of all, it's Letitia Fucking Lewis to you and she doesn't need a man to make sure she's ok.

    • @lumi2085
      @lumi2085 3 роки тому +1

      @@BadFluffy your right about Leticia not needing a man to make sure she's ok but the writers decided to put her in a relationship with a man in my opinion didn't deserve her loyalty or care and many ppl noticed that.The writers intentionally wrote what I call a "struggle love" story that is common with black women characters in t.v./movies.I expressed my disappointment with the writing.Others saw it differently and didn't see an issue.

I don't think I've ever been this anxious to watch the "next episode" as I have with this one. This is one for the history books. If you don't like horror then just close your eyes on the scary parts but this is a must watch in my book. Dare I say almost potentially life changing. Jaime Chung, Wunmi, Abbey Lee and Jordan Patrick are truly award worthy in their portrayals. Episode 8 was pure art. Jaime Chung is stunning. This entire ensemble cast is phenomenal. Who knew Courtney B. Vance was sexy???!!!! Absolutely incredible show with phenomenal acting. Y’all should be so proud of what you created.

    Watching this now is extremely emotional. They went through so much creating this masterpiece and selfishly I was upset it wasn’t coming back!! Rip Michael K. Williams 💔💔💔

    Wow. I was not expecting this. This was such a moving conversation and the show was just top-notched. I do hope that there is a continuation of this series; but if not, I am very happy with what was presented. I watched some BTS footage of the making of the show the other day. It was masterful how it was all put together, and that HBO even decided to do it. I am grateful for the makers of this show and especially the cast. They were all so amazing and authentic.
