one of the best tips for new fighter: switch the "E" heal ability on your "Q" so you dont press it by accident while opening doors (can happen bc interact in other games is "E"), then you just popped sprint and this one you get back
I'd HIGHLY recommend Weapon Mastery as your first perk. With Weapon Mastery you can yoink a Recurve Bow from the Squire and have a ranged weapon instantly. The Recurve is a godsend for taking down ranged enemies without any risk, or for picking off targets in a group one by one instead of aggro-ing the entire group at once. I'd only recommend taking Weapon Mastery off once you have enough gold to run the Crossbow, since Fighters can use the standard Crossbow immediately. Also, fun fact about bows and throwable weapons; if you hold the draw button for longer, the shot has less drop and higher velocity. Even the Survival Bow can hit targets across a room if you hold the shot for an extra couple of seconds. Also also, the Buckler is the best shield in the game. Its fairly small, but it has the least movement penalty while blocking, so you can often just dodge an enemy's attack completely while holding your block. It also has a Block Power of 6; in layman's terms, this means you can stop almost every enemy attack instantly. Even Nightmare Skeletons become a cakewalk because they can't combo attack you as long as you block the first attack. It helps if you look towards the incoming attack while blocking.
For new players weapon mastery is the best perk to start with I agree. Just because any weapon you find you can just use and get an idea about the weapon pool in general
I wouldn't recommend Weapon Mastery. On one hand it allows you to use everything, but on the other hand, every time you pick a new weapon you have to learn a new moveset and how to properly use it. It would be better to stick to one weapon for the first few hours until you are comfortable with the other aspects of the game, like moving around, blocking, the monsters attack patterns and things like that.
My perks for fighter: Start with Sword Mastery. It makes your sword attacks a little faster (5%) and a little stronger (2 extra damage). You also move 10% faster when blocking while holding a sword, this is either with a shield or with the Longsword parry. Then go with Defense Mastery. Armor reduces damage taken, and this makes your armor reduce an extra 3 % or 4% physical damage, which is nice. Third slot: Swift, as has been mentioned, movement is king now. Fourth slot is open to preference. Counter-attack or Shield Mastery if you intend on blockin and Projectile Resistance can help a bit with PVP. Combo Attack seems nice, but it requires 3 consecutive attacks for it to be effective, the first two to activate the perk and the third to benefit from it. Slayer and Dual Wield allows you to attack fast, but honestly, playing Longsword or Arming Sword + Shield tends to be better than dual wielding. I would leave weapon mastery alone for now. It will be better once you learn the game, but for now, it will just get in the way of learning stuff. Choice of weapon for now: Arming Sword + Heather Shield. The sword is fast enough while the shield is easy to block almost any attack. Later when you get comfortable with the monsters, switch to Longsword. If you can understand and get comfortable with the parry and riposte, you're off to a great game, since longsword riposte deals double damage.
@6:40 IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT COMBAT At this timestamp, here's whats happening. ---Its important to note, holding S to backpedal reduces movement speed (can anyone confirm if diagonal movement has a penalty? Or just directly backwards), in sidestepping you avoid the movement speed penalty which really just translates to taking less damage over time and having better control over your spacing. Your weapon is a floating hitbox, once you swing you only need a pixel of it to touch them. Some swings you can left click, and move your mouse towards them 100-200ms later because of how long the windup is. To avoid this: 1) Spuddy is holding S to back away from the mummy, 2) when he goes to swing, he released S and begins to hold A (or D, depending on direction) while turning his mouse so he is still backing away from the enemy, but he's doing it sideways. 3) he turns to face the enemy after the swing connects, incase he has to block. In some cases, you can just keep running sideways while barely moving your mouse in their direction to get your weapon hitbox overlapping theirs. YMMV. Godspeed, Adventurers!
Tips for squire near end there. When un equipping to stash & resetting with the square. Check thr heal/tab sections. If filled with potions or whatever, you will not get the new free stuff
Alternatively use the Weapon master perk and trade shield for a bow from the squire in your default loadout. fresh ones will come woth free arrows when you load in.
hilariously, they actually fixed it. Cause before with squire sets, some class had a campfire pre equipped or a protection pot. But other classes won't. Now very class seems to now have everything you can fit in. Or that could be because my characters are already made for the wipe. Maybe when creating it still doesn't do it properly
Forgot that backpedaling is slower than strafing other than that I feel like that captures what I experienced as a new player would be cool for you to do it with every class though just for those who are stubborn and want to play rogue wizard or bard, which can also help you showcase static extracts, and how to know if they have already been taken
The problem with Dark and Darker is that there are 2 types of players. 1. Vets with 1000s of hours into the game 2. The new players that get farmed in every lobby and eventually quit. Really no middle ground and no way to learn it without getting farmed. A new player wants to wear in their new green boots and the fancy green ring? They are put into a lobby with juicers minmaxed in sub125
Yuuuup. Got into this game thinking it was a fun dungeoncrawler d&d style with some pvp to keep it fresh. Find out you will never experience the dungeon due to the entire community being sweaty pvp lords in a game with oblivions motion and physics. Kills the desire to play prty quick. But i found spuddy because of the game so theres that.
Eh I consider myself middle ground. I just started playing this year. I kill some people. I get killed. Sometimes I get too drunk or over confident and die to mobs. I love this game.
sadly nothing here i’ve haven’t already learned through my trials of fire but i appreciate the guide being here for newer folk! hope people have a good time learning and have fun!
as much as i love these videos and how much you trying to help new players... the sad fact is the guy you killed was chronically brain dead and these type of people are never the type of people we vs :S
Ok, this is a really good teacher.. but as a ranger player, traps are essential to keeping space between us and other players, and even getting kills. It’s not about being bad humans lol it’s part of the game, and as a ranger you would use it as well if you want to survive. Especially as a new player. The trap is so far the only way I’ve killed a warlock by letting them come to me. It’s just part of the build my guy. Good video though
Oh damn, a guide for new players. NOW people will start to play this amazing game, because all that has kept them from doing so is them not knowing the basics. People are quitting the game because the PvP is not worth the hassle and severely unfun with how unfun the interactions are. Say Rogues from invis or Fighters tanking unreasonable amounts of damage. What did I hear? 60%+ PDR on a Bard, really?! One dimensional builds, just go movementspeed, always movementspeed. I want to see damage numbers. People aren't playing this game because its hard, the game is the most basic multiplayer game on the market by far. There is no depth to the game at all. They aren't playing it because nobody likes dog shit players kill them. Since you love taking Summit1g in your videos, he has a perfect clip showcasing that against a Fighter where he should have won out trading that idiot by a crazy amount but still ended up dieing. You fking know this better than anyone too. The more you understand the game, the better you get at the game, the more shit the game becomes because you start understanding all the bullshit interactions and how little skill is involved in these fights. You know this to be true, and how big of a problem the lack of actual skill in this game is. If they can't find a way to reward better players and introduce true skill expressions into the game, the game will never ever pop off. The moment you get good enough, where you start to understand why some fights went the way they did, you will start hating this game. Nobody likes getting W-Keyed by some of the worst monkeys in existence. Get camped at doorways because the team which dares to push will be 100% the team to die, so nobody pushes. This is what this game needs, not fking Guides. The game is piss easy to understand, there is 0 meat on the bone. It is also piss easy to play, go play PDR Fighter as a beginner and just look how many mistakes you can make compared to playing a Wizard or Ranger. The game is severely unbalanced, constantly fixes and re-introduces the same issues back -> landmines. The game has so many more issues than beginner onboarding. Irontrash I think its time to bring back +all-stats, I mean come on, you know you want to. Being a clueless noob is a blessing in this game, those guys are the people who can still start a game and enjoy it because they don't care to think about why they died in certain situations. The better you get at this game, the more you will hate playing it, because you will understand how unfair MANY situations are and how little you could have done even if you were the god gamer himself. Good luck Ironshit, the game will never make it big and just waits for a true competitor to take over. It doesn't take a masters degree to understand players shouldn't be able to manipulate their movementspeed in order to motivate them to play with other builds either. Btw. the NPC you can talk to in-between levels instantly disappears when you are the last team entering it. How about moving that NPC into the starting room on the next floor and make him stay there for 30seconds. This alone shows the incompetence of Ironpuke, you can not tell me they didn't steal this game at this point with all these weird ass decisions... Gj having the community assist you on theft Ironpiss, there is no way you managed to make this game as great as it was in the beginning yourself. Ah btw. go nerf Ranger again, the best Ranger is rank #23, I think Rogues and Fighters need a little more love maybe 500hp for both, just for the kicks. While you are at it, delete all the perks since you can't be bothered to balance them in a way where 99% of people aren't always picking the same thing.
nr 1 tip is dont play this trash. getting spawnrushed by monkeys in -25gs games.... and than in highroller games no one pvps lol trully one of the worst games out there lets not even talk about the "different builds" which is basicaly 1 meta and rest is useless :D movement speed meta is so bad aswell everyone is forced to build one stat or you just get outrun ironmace is clueless
Stoped playing after so many ranger nerfs, class is unplayable without gear and even with gear is not fun AT ALL. I belive loads of fps players had the same experience as me and stoped playing this game.
I have 1.5k hours and I still watched this. Fun stuff!
I have 60 hours and I read this
I have over 1000 at least yet I came in here just to say I hate this games dev team I will not be playing their trash
Step 1: Select Fighter
Step 2: Enter Character Name "BigSchl0ngEnergy"

Adding words here for the algorithm. Cheers to you Spudicus!
that summit1g clip is fucking legendary!! hahahaha
Played since the betas and I still watched lol
Aim your crosshair at the blade of your opponents weapon when you're blocking and you'll almost always block the attack unless there's desync issues
bruh that opening clip has to be seen to be believed lmao what a helmet

Just in time for the wipe

I would suggest sword mastery first or weapon mastery so u can pick up any weapon
Time to get good again
Spud you gotta look up to block with the shield, or else it doesn't cover your head.
He did and said that.
He forgot about the other steps, buy ESP so you aren't the only person without it
