I love that Geoff' removed visual noise allowing the listener to be engulfed in the Sound of Silence. Grey shirt, black and white, no other versions of Geoff other than voice ranges. His talent is EPIC but at the end of the day he is a musician that works hard to be a master of his instrument - his voice. Each time you listen to a song you hear many levels of talent. KUDOS
Original = a warning Disturbed = anger at something that was happening This = a lament on what had happened and a plea to learn from it Very different to all other versions, and just gets better every time I hear it
All. The. Feels. Every single time he gets me. I love his low bass, but that Eb4 was seriously impressive. I love the instrumentals/percussion he added to this. It really set the mood and tone.
Hi there. First I'd like to say that I love watching your reaction videos. However, I was looking through the many reactions you have for Pentatonix and there was one specific video that you have not reacted to. It's one that I recently came across myself and it is now officially my FAVORITE Christmas song!!! Yes, I am aware that it's not Christmas time, but TRUST ME... you HAVE to listen to this!!!! IT IS AMAZING!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE react to Pentatonix singing O' Come All Ye Faithful. I swear I have listened to it at LEAST 30 times now and I just came across it last night.
Thank you Dennis for a great reaction! Geoff certainly went his own way with this arrangement. I think it’s very powerful yet smooth as velvet. Fantastic! 🥰🎶
Okay, I just watched Geoff's video. Recently lost my fiance and I really had a tough time dealing with it. Seeing a grief counselor a psychologist the song has me a mess right now. I didn't watch the second time cuz first time was so hard to handle. I saw that you had made a reaction to it I have to watch. Your emotional reaction to music is a lot like mine. So here we go
I'm so sorry for your loss. Please continue down the path that you're taking with seeking help and talking to people. Praying for peace and comfort my friend 🙏🏻❤️
Great reaction, thanks. I heard Disturbed's version soon after it hit UA-cam - not my kind of band, but somehow, I heard it when there was "only" about a million views. I was stunned by it, and frankly inspired by the anger. I'm 70, and sometimes it seems like protest music is dead, while serious injustices and problems remain. So I instantly became an enormous David Draiman fan, even though, after many tries I reconciled myself to not finding any other music of his I enjoyed. So--- weird mixed emotions. I love that Geoff took it in a new direction and dealt with the depression also potentially lurking in the lyrics. But to me, the song started as a protest and got it's feet under itself in the modern era with Disturbed. So while I appreciate what Geoff did with it, (and am incredibly glad he went in a different direction!) I'm probably still in Disturbed's camp. I know I'll listen to Geoff's many times, because it's beautiful. They are really two different songs, and impossible to compare.
Nice reaction! The best version of this song, in my opinion, is Dan Vasc's 2020 version (he also covered it in 2016, and that version is great, but 2020's is even better!). Without that version, I don't think I would even know who Geoff is ; Dan's channel has led me to all of his great music, the bands he's covered, and other musicians suggested by UA-cam because I listen to Dan. Geoff is great and easily in my top 5 singers! I'd love to hear Dan and Geoff do a song together. I highly recommend you do some Dan reactions - 200+ great videos, even his very first ones, when he was an awkward 20-year-old! Those old videos show just how far he's come.
THIS WAS SO AMAZING!!!! His harmonies were so freaking beautiful 😍. I love him so much. This is my favorite song he has covered. Wow. Omg. That ending was gorgeous. I was thinking that his song had a slight Pentatonix feel to it too
The extra deep rumbling subwoofer sounds with distortion you asked about are definitely electronic. I almost thought it was him at first, because of course he can hit those notes, but on the karaoke track you can really hear that it’s not a human-produced sound. I love it though, I think it adds so much atmosphere!
@@keith221191 the bass hits are on the instrumental track Geoff released on Patreon and they are distinctly electronic. He is absolutely capable of hitting those notes, but he has also said in the VP chat that even VP will sometimes use those atmospheric subwoofer hits in their covers and it is not Geoff.
hi Dennis you need to read asap Arranged, Produced, Performed, and Edited by Geoff Castellucci Mix Engineer - Ed Boyer Production Manager - Kathy Castellucci Steadicam - Layne Stein Lighting - Eli Jacobson Camera Assistant - Andrew Cox
Such a great cover! Loved your reaction. Geoff had said in a live chat that he wanted his version of this song to feel “Dark”, and I fully believe he achieved that.
I didn't think there was anything left that could go into this song that I hadn't already heard, but I've learned to never doubt Geoff! Those harmonies were fire and the lighting and atmosphere were perfect. I really like the choices he made for this! And yes, definitely watch the version Disturbed did! It's so, so good! Happy weekend! And Roll Tide!
While I do like the version from Disturbed I think his version is filled with too much anger. The lyrics to the song are very sad, emotional & heartbreaking. Geoff pulls it off beautifully.
This was just amazing! Geoff will never do cookie cutter covers. He sent out an instrumentation track for this to his patrons. That very, very low, Jurassic Park sound was on that track. It was strange not to see multiple Geoffs with the harmony, but beautiful nonetheless! Thanx for the reaction, Dennis!!
I believe the only instruments were the piano and drums at the end, he did all the bass. Incredible performance. You definitely need to hear Disturbed's, live when David Draiman was sick or the official music video, both are fantastic.
In the background when he ascends into his higher register🤯 the bass lines that was really geoff, it's amazing really however you would have to listen closely the bass line is a bit faded in that area BUT he hit those notes fam.
That was a mistake by the music distributer, I think. The video released at noon and I think that picture version was supposed to be on the you tube music (like apple music and Spotify).
Loving Geoff's take on this old classic. I grew up with the Simon and Garfunkle original of this but (and I guess I'll get slammed for this!) that original, after hearing several other versions, now seems almost colourless and bland in comparison. I don't think I've heard a cover that I didn't prefer to the original - all very different and each good in their own right. Although they are very different from each other, my favourite versions are probably this by Geoff and DIsturbed's much heavier version. Jonathon Young's metal version is also, for me, up there with Disturbed in the heavy, dramatic cover stakes. Would be interesting to see you react to those 🙂
This is a masterpiece. You can just feel the emotion in Geoff's voice. You made a great choice with this video, Mr. Dennis. Well done. P.S - I'm really surprised that you have never reaction to your buddy Brad's video Just Be Bored, considering that you're in it. ua-cam.com/video/uGNOkA4GjDg/v-deo.html
For this song I wasn't super massive on the end. It went from cinematic to typical Geoff style with his high harmonies and stuff. It's not that I dislike it necessarily but I definetly would have preferred for him to not have done that and kept it simple and cinematic sounding. 6:46
this is amazing. however, I'll probably get roasted over this, but David Draiman and Disturbed can never, ever, be beat with any version of this song. Geoff did an amazing job, which moves to 2nd place, even over Simon and Garfunkel (which I grew up with) . But Disturbed's version always moves me to tears ( I can't even think of Disturbed's version without crying) and is the gold standard.
I know many people will feel that way. But I do not like Disturbed's version at all. The anger makes me so uncomfortable that I just cannot listen. It is clearly musical genius because it evokes such strong emotions, but I hate it. This, though, is just my kind of emotion. I love melancholy.
Hi, you know, I really really want to say what a fabulous singer he is......sorry but I can't. He sounds fine when he's with the rest of the A Cappela group, but as solo : 5 out of 10

Loved Simon & Garfunkel growing up, Then my granddaughter said grandma you need to hear Disturbeds cover. Now OMG here's Geoff.
Original = a warning
Disturbed = anger at something that was happening
This = a lament on what had happened and a plea to learn from it
Very different to all other versions, and just gets better every time I hear it
✌️
Oh myyyyyy his voice….first time hearing this guy. Why haven’t I heard him b4?!
I love the idea that he mentioned his eyes were stabbed with the neon light. When he said what he saw in the light, we saw a light behind him.
Geoff is so awesome! He killed this. Love your reaction!
All. The. Feels. Every single time he gets me. I love his low bass, but that Eb4 was seriously impressive. I love the instrumentals/percussion he added to this. It really set the mood and tone.

Another Geoff masterpiece! Somehow, he manages to get better and better! 🤯🔥
Yes, the sound design underneath the amazing music helps to give this arrangement its hauntingly beautiful presence. Geoff is amazing.
Great reaction. I agree, that his upper register is beyond wonderful.
Okay, I just watched Geoff's video. Recently lost my fiance and I really had a tough time dealing with it. Seeing a grief counselor a psychologist the song has me a mess right now. Thank you pretty much you and Kofi and charismatic voice of the only reactors iWatch anymore
Have you heard disturbed version of this song??!! Chills..legit chills!!!

His harmonies were mind blowing in thisssssssss. He adds more extra feel to it. With his hair flowing about, love that special touch.
THIS WAS SO AMAZING!!!! His harmonies were so freaking beautiful 😍. I love him so much. This is my favorite song he has covered. Wow. Omg. That ending was gorgeous. I was thinking that his song had a slight Pentatonix feel to it too
This is a rare Geoff solo that does't have multiple Geoffs. The simplicity of this one is part of its beauty.

I almost thought it was him at first, because of course he can hit those notes, but on the karaoke track you can really hear that it’s not a human-produced sound. I love it though, I think it adds so much atmosphere!
Peter Barber thinks differently he is hitting E1 sub and A1 chest
The sawtooth effect is there though but the rumbles is geoff.

Awesome reaction Dennis

Geoff's putting goosebumps on your goosebumps!!! I love listening to Geoff and Voiceplay, as well!!! Appreciate your reactions Dennis!!!
Hello from Auburn. Awesome reaction. This one gave me full on chills when I first heard it. So amazing.
Hello there. You're in Auburn, AL?
@@KingFamilyReacts yep. Originally from Columbus Ga., but been in Auburn since 1998.
Love this so much. Such a somber rendition of this song.
I interpreted this song as someone going to sleep and dreaming.
I cried when I heard this. Chills! Love how intimate it is. It's very relatable the way he performed it. Everyone can relate
I believe the only instruments were the piano and drums at the end, he did all the bass. Incredible performance. You definitely need to hear Disturbed's, live when David Draiman was sick or the official music video, both are fantastic.
This just is like post Zombie apocalypse where Goef is lamenting loosing all his VP buddies
In the background when he ascends into his higher register🤯 the bass lines that was really geoff, it's amazing really however you would have to listen closely the bass line is a bit faded in that area BUT he hit those notes fam.
First and awesome I clicked fast lol
Yeah you did!!!
Me also!!! I've been waiting for this forever. You also really need to listen to Disturbed version for sure. This was awesome. Did not disappoint.
He was closer to Simon and Garfunkels. Then most.
Geoff Eb1 sub is crazy strong
You want to see a COMPLETELY different take on this watch Tom Ball from agt all stars 2023. Got excited when I saw sound of silence video on here
This is up there with Disturbed's version. So good! But I wonder why the version I saw was just a picture of Geoff over the music.
That was a mistake by the music distributer, I think. The video released at noon and I think that picture version was supposed to be on the you tube music (like apple music and Spotify).
