I've been using your video to put back together my m-50 I was exactly what I was looking for in a how to video . Thx for the content
Yeah dude absolutely! Glad it’s helping you. Shoot me a message on ig if you have any questions 🤙
You made that look easy with lining cams up and timing everything. Wished I’d of had this video when I replaced the head on mine!
Haha thanks man. It’s not a bad job
Love these videos makes me wanna rebuild my engine hahaha
Haha thank you!
Just discovered you man !!Here binge watching your series man definitely liking the quality and professionalism! I do feel a bit timid but comfortable enough to accomplish my upgrades when I do start but I’m just a UA-cam mechanic lol . I have the same build in my e36 currently Na… lol I left the Pnw as well around the same time as ep1 and ironically down here as well… keep it up !!
Thank you Man! You moved yourself down to Florida from the pnw?!?
@@BryanSturman92 to an extent ,, I’m originally from Alabama and that’s where i left my car for now. And my job had the opportunity for me to be here in the Ocala -Orlando so still moving stuff to reside here.
Great videos mate
Nice job dude!
Thank you 🙏
Hey man! I had messaged you on the Facebook comment but regarding your build here. I’m assuming you have been driving the car now since this video is over a year old yes ?
You know how you pointed out the putting on your block surface around your coolant jackets ? I’m curious as to how the engine is doing now and if there is any sign of water leaks from the head gasket ? The reason I ask is because in august i did my head gasket too and there was some electrolysis/putting on my cylinder head but those got filled in with welds and resurfaced. Might have had some pitting on my block surface that I overlooked but everything was perfectly fine and I abused the shit out of the car all summer with ac blasting and many canyon and track days but beginning of December I started to see water oozing outward between the head and block 😏 I’m so bummed out man!! This is the reason I went in there to fix in the first place. The original old 30 year old head gaskets tend to leak on the exhaust side where they are exposed to high temperatures, it’s a very common leak area on the exhaust side of the head to see water leaks, that was not a big deal for me since it’s actually my second time dealing with an m3 with the same type of head gasket failure due to just aging and the oem gasket failing.
The only differnce this time is well, my head gasket failed within 6 months and I’m speechless. This isn’t my first time handling these engines either….:you just grabbed my attention with the gasket sealer idea around the water jackets!!! So I’m happy to hear how it’s been treating you ?
Also I feel like partially it didn’t seal well due to that copper spray I experimented with for my first time ever 🤮🤢😬🙄 never again will I use that bullcrap spray, thanks to the homie who insisted on me using that copper spray on the gasket. First time I’m using arp studs and the copper spray and my gasket failed like fml
Message me on Instagram. It’s worked perfect so far. I beat the crap out of the car and have zero issues. Instagram. @bsturman92
This stud installation is incorrect. You should have Lube on both set of threads. You put the bolts down to stop and back off half a turn. Washer is dry between head and washer Lube inside threads of nut and bottom of nut. 3 step torq was correct. Wait 24 hours and torque again. This is from arp. Updated installation
As per when this video was made. Arp as well as a couple different big name bmw engine builders here in FL all told me to do lube on one end.
Here we are 2 years later at 15psi and dozens of events. never a single hiccup with the car. I would say it’s worked absolutely fine this way
This is the 84.5mm gasket? Everywhere I read people say only use 86mm to prevent the pistons from hitting without a copper spacer. I already bought the 84.5mm from drifthq and I don’t want to return it lol.
Yeah this is the 84.5 gasket. A lot of people say the pistons MAY hit the cut rings. But I’ve had no issues what so ever. Ur fine man send it
@@BryanSturman92 fuck yea this is all I needed I’m gonna go throw it on right now
@@Shrm4n atta boy! If you want some reassurance of how it’s doing hop on my Instagram. She’s been nothing but reliable this far.
@@BryanSturman92 Good to know, I ordered and received the 86mm for my S50 and I had the same concern about the rings hitting the piston. cant wait to put mine back together. Thank you for the video
Great content. Sending you a Insta PM!
