Wow awesome!!! I have a ton of pool videos on everything you will ever need to do to your pool from building, patching, replacing to installing Chlorinators etc! Thank you for watching!!!😊
Everything you showed was great. I got my skimmer off kust as easy as you did. Only thing I did different was clean the rust off the old gasket surfaces on the pool. Bit of light sanding and an alcohol rub down to remove sanding dust. I am a 25+ year mechanic I never pit new gaskets on uncleaned surfaces. Don't want to do this again because the rust areas caused leaks Have a great summer
Thank you so much! You just saved me $600, which was the quote I got from the company that installed my pool. I'm sure it is because they don't want to do such a small job during their busy time.
Great video thank you. Something I should be able to do easily now that I have my pool completely drained how much easier to access from inside the pool for me.
Thank you for this! Do you happen to know if wide skimmers are of the same size? Can't seem to find the exact same skimmer product that my pool has. Thanks
They have wide mouth skimmers and small, you normally don't see the small too much they were used on older pools, but as far as widemouth skimmers go most parts are interchangeable, what exactly are you looking to replace????
@@WhitehouseFarmVet Thanks! Didnt notice your respond - I went ahead and bought a widemouth hayward skimmer (I was replacing an old Jacuzzi one that I think has now phased out? at least couldn't easily find this). Anyway, they fit much like you mentioned :) Thanks!
Just had my liner replaced and the installer used a dry rotted old gasket when he installed my skimmer so now I am left to fix it... got a new skimmer and return but am also scared of the liner dropping when i take the faceplate off the skimmer... i see yours is staying perfectly in place and I hear if the water level is high like an inch below the skimmer there should be no movement but I have also heard it most likely will sag and ruin it.... whats your opinion on this? thanks !
You will be fine just make sure the water is a couple inches below the skimmer, it should stay in place and you should be able to line up all the holes again together!!! This is how I Replace people's old skimmer gaskets that are leaking and need replacement! Good luck and thank you for watching!
@@WhitehouseFarmVet talked to the guy at the pool store and he told me I installed the butterfly gasket wrong but doing this method… has your success rate been pretty high or should I be worried about water leakage between the gasket and liner behind the pool wall? There is so much conflicting information on pool installs I can’t believe it lol
I personally have had zero issues!!!!! This is how I do my own pool and the 1000s i have done for 20 plus years!!! Whatever way you decide good luck and thank you for watching!
@@WhitehouseFarmVet that’s good to hear. Just got the pool filled last night and it seems good but I can’t tell what’s happening between the liner and the pool wall. This method works without the wall foam too correct? I currently have faceplate-liner-butterfly gasket-pool wall-butterfly gasket-skimmer. This is how the installer had it setup as well before I had to replace the skimmer. I agree that the butterfly over the wall and liner seems to make the most sense but it also seems near impossible to line up holes etc doing it that way especially since mine was already installed and I had to replace it. Sorry for all the questions here, just trying to get this handled and move on
You got lucky your liner did not sinkor pull down. Do I have to worry about the liner being pulled down by the weight off the water? I just removed my winter tarp today and saw my skimmer was cracked
No, this is how you change the skimmer with water in it, you will be fine just make sure the water is drained below the skimmer then line up the new stuff goes together easy! Good luck! Thanks for watching!
@@WhitehouseFarmVet I was wondering the same thing, with the plate being removed it would put added stress on the liner. Glad I saw this, now I feel better . Thanks brother!
@@WhitehouseFarmVetnot sure I’m handy enough to handle installing a new plate to the skimmer I just installed, think it’s okay to not install and just stay out of water with bad weather?
I use to have a pool company almost 20 years I would film stuff here and there, now I just do smaller jobs because I don't have a crew and only do part time stuff!
All the pool stores I’ve talked to say they don’t know about this, but my pool has one installed, but it seems that it’s not common to get a skimmer with one installed
Thank you so much!! Very clear instructions.
Awesome!!!! Thank you so much and thank you for watching!😊
Excellent explanation and demonstration. This is the year I have to replace ours. First video I clicked on ! That never happens. Thank you.

Would you recommend using some caulking on the interior side of the gasket?
No you don't need it the gaskets are meant to keep the water out without any caulk or Silicone!! Thanks for watching!
What is that pipe on the return jet used for?
Pool fountain, here's the video I Did on it!

My skimmer is stuck on after removing the plate and all the screws?
Just make sure you did remove all the screws and it will pull off just wiggle back and forth! Thanks for watching!👍
Why is there a ground wire installed on the skimmer?
Because it's a direct connection to your water!!!
@@WhitehouseFarmVetnot sure I’m handy enough to handle installing a new plate to the skimmer I just installed, think it’s okay to not install and just stay out of water with bad weather?
Theirs no gasket for the inside of the pool ?
No it's like how I did it in the video the liner sits against the gasket! Thank you for watching!👍
Didn’t you have another pool prior to this one?
I use to have a pool company almost 20 years I would film stuff here and there, now I just do smaller jobs because I don't have a crew and only do part time stuff!
You didn’t finish the job which included the hose to the pump.
That's because, this is just like the title says," how to replace your pool skimmer!", Not how To connect skimmer and return lines!
Why do you have an earthing connection on a plastic device?
That's how you ground your water in your pool!!!
All the pool stores I’ve talked to say they don’t know about this, but my pool has one installed, but it seems that it’s not common to get a skimmer with one installed
They sell skimmer grounding
Kits , definitely do it for safety, ground your pool uprights and skimmer, we'll worth it!😊

Thank you and thank you for watching! Unfortunately I don't have pool deck plans!
