- Taking a Triumph Trident out for a quick ride in the West Yorkshire hills.
While the Bonnie was in the dealership for an MOT, I took the chance to go for a short ride on a Triumph Trident around the wet, West Yorkshire hills.
It's a fantastic little bike and the few hours that I had with it were hugely enjoyable.
Sadly filming was cut short by news that my Bonnie had failed its MOT on a quite a few things, so with my mood becoming about as black as the clouds, I grumpily rode the Trident back to the dealership and then took Silvie home to sulk.
Although the day was a bit rubbish overall, blasting through the country lanes on the Trident was definitely the high point of the day. If you get the opportunity to ride one, I thoroughly recommend it.
If you enjoyed this short film, I hope that you'll consider leaving a like on the video or subscribing to the channel. What an awesome starter bike. Even a returning rider.
It is, fun little thing 👌
@@ClassicRides Looks it. I have a speed twin 1200 but I love the street triple.
Matt, I'm sorry that Silvie wasn't up to snuff on the inspection and hope you sort that out in due course, but I genuinely look forward to each video you produce. I love the moody cinematic qualities of each one and your creative perspective. When I can't ride, I'm living vicariously through your content. Wishing you continued success, sir!
Thanks so much! She’ll be back on the road in a few weeks hopefully, then normal videos will recommence 🙂
@@ClassicRides oh - didnt recognize that your bike had a failure. what happened?
@@rramirrezznotched head bearings and the rear shocks had failed, but all fixed now 🙂
@@ClassicRides
excellent! I swapped my shock absorbers for Öhlins in the summer because the original ones were overwhelmed by carrying two passenger plus luggage.
@@rramirrezz a wise choice!
Owned the street twin 900 for 3 years, fine bike, but wanted a change, liked the Trident when it came out, very light, responsive, the triple engine has a bit more scope than the twin, really enjoying it 8 months on.
From my quick ride I can see why, it’s a fun bike 🏍️💨
Matt … another classic ride 💯 perfect and glorious scenery Matlock / Buxton
area i assume I know that area
Can’t wait to go myself next year for sure!!
I’ve not forgotten about the panniers by the way
Fantastic job 😊😊
I have looked and will be getting some off you for definite 😊😊
Hey Phil, this was actually up in West Yorkshire. I’ve not ridden too much in those parts but that’ll have to change as there’s some great roads 👌
One of my favorite bikes. Would love to see more, maybe your thoughts about it. Thanks and have a nice weekend!
Thanks, I really didn’t have it long enough to do a review video, but I’ll be writing my thoughts on it in the Members area soon 🙂
Everything seems a lot fast on the little bike.
It really does, it’s a nippy little thing 🏍️💨
Whereabouts in West Yorkshire were you Matt?
I was on the B6160 going north from Buckden. Brilliant little road I thought, I even saw Carl Fogarty in a little cafe in Kettlewell 😁
I think you’ll find that’s North Yorkshire!
Hi Matt, hope normal service is resumed quickly for you with the Bonnie, it’s a pity you couldn’t have got a Speed Twin I would have been interested in your view of it.
I have found it is very flickable like the Trident but with the quality of the Bonnie, in essence a good substitute.
Hi Les, yes I think that would’ve been good to try a Speed Twin, perhaps when it goes back in for its retest I’ll get a chance to try one 🙂
Obviously you're "Bonnie" is way more prettier, in my opinion off course, however you could be riding a bicycle that I would still watch the video knowing it would be another great one!! Thanks Matt for sharing it!👍👍
Ps - did you went with this one on a 20mph or 30mph road? just asking for a friend.... 😁😁😉
Yes I agree, the Bonnie is much nicer to look at 🙂, but the Trident was still a nice bike to spend a couple of hours on...on normal speed limit roads 😁
Good to see you on a different bike… but the Bonny is the dogs 😉.
I live in West Yorkshire so I’m interested to know which route that was Matt?
I agree with you there. The road is the B6160 from Buckden to the end of the road where it T-junctions onto the A684.
It’s a fantastic road that I found myself on by accident, I’ll definitely be going back to ride it on the Bonnie 👌
@@ClassicRides Thanks Matt I’ll look that up for sure.
Hi classic rides, how did you find the trident and what do you think compared to your triumph t 120 . I think they are great bikes
I really liked it, I don’t think it’s really comparable to a T120, they’re just very different bikes. The Trident’s like a little Jack Russel, small and skittish, but fun.
What a change! I would love to hear your thoughts about this bike compared to your "Bonnie". I'm not looking for criticisms just seat of the pants impressions.
Thanks Mike, I really enjoyed it for a quick blast, it’s very nimble and very quick for a ‘smaller’ bike. It’s a lot of fun, but not in the same league at the Bonnie.
Hello Matt 👋 which bike would you move on to after T120?
Maybe another T120 😁. I’ll have to see what Royal Enfield come up with too, a Classic version of their 650 would be interesting, or a scrambler variant might be good. Who knows though, it’ll be a few years before I’m ready to retire Silvie anyway 🙂
👍🤩👍
👍
Why your movies are so cool, even on a fighting bike ? 😉👍🏁
Thanks, all bikes are cool, I just film them 🙂
No classic bike, sorry
Ok
Jump on one, then comment.
Il ne se passe rien
Ok

Hello Matt,
Seeing your videos are so pleasant...
Great fan of your solo ride and camp works. Especially triumph T120 videos. KEEP IT UP MAN.
ESWAR
FROM INDIA.
Thanks Eswar, the T120 will be back very soon!
Well Matt you looked as if you were enjoying that Trident!! but hopefully you’ll get the jobs done on your T120 and enjoy the ride again!! Plus theirs more luggage space on the T120 for camera’s and drones etc!!!! Cliff.
Thanks Cliff, the Bonnie will be back on the road in a couple of weeks. The Trident’s a fun bike, but no match for my T120 🙂
I’ve come to the conclusion that you’re a hypnotist! I don’t really like the looks of Trident, but I do like the 660 Tiger, yet here I was, completely immersed in the video! 😂 Nice one Matt!
Thanks Jer, that’s praise indeed 😁
Nice bike Matt although I think the T120 looks a lot classier. Seemed a bit high for you when you first sat on it but that may have been attributable to the road camber. High quality video as usual!
Totally agree Paul, the T120 is on another level, but I quite enjoyed taking the Trident out for a couple of hours.
I’m not that tall so the seat height did feel high, though it’s supposed to be not that different to a T120, felt much higher to me though.
😮 sounds Like a Rocket ,🖤🏍️🖤🏍️🖤
🚀
I own a 2033 Trident 🔱 & came from a Interceptor 650 & loved it but Trident 🔱 is better.I done tail tidy & aftermarket grab rail & radiator guard.I got Quick Shifter when ordering bike & Wow 😲 it makes a massive difference as when running bike in only used it a few times & then at 500miles I used it alot more & love it.
It’s super fun bike, even better with a quick shifter I imagine!
Lovely 😊
Thanks my good man 🙏
@@ClassicRides how did you find it after the Bonneville? 😁
@@TAYMI would say that it’s like a Border Collie: agile, nimble, fast, probably doesn’t relax much and a bit smaller than you’d expect.
@@ClassicRides yes you did a good job of keeping the video chilled with the choice of music I think 😁
