i think they were not fake, in his last concert you can see how tired and melancholic he was. I believe that since he was so sensitive, all these smiles are not fake, the same with his tears. He has always encouraged us to allow ourselves to feel and that there is not a thing such as an useless feeling.
He had said many times in many different ways how being with other Shinee's members made him happy..so when we saw him smiling and laughing with others it's real..
