- I’ve lived in Texas my entire life, but have never floated the rivers of the Hill Country.
My good friend J’aime is a pro and took me along to float the Comal River In New Braunfels from Landa Falls. It’s the longest ride on the river!
Watch this video to come along with us and to learn what to do, and not do.

Have you ever gone tubing? If so, where?
When I was a kid, My family and I went to some place called Aquarena Springs in San Marcos or Maybe it was New Braunfels. Not sure if it is open anymore. They had a pig that would dive into a pool and swim with Mermaids. There were also glass bottom boats and stuff. I hope I’m not making this all up and it all actually happened. Anywho, we stayed at some cabins along the Comal River called The Other Place. We also went to Schlitterbaun in New Braunfels. We did the whole family tubing thang on the Comal & Guadalupe Rivers. I remember my sister was afraid of fish that “looked at her”. LOL. I remember some of the rapids and slides were actually pretty scary.
Yes! Aquarina Springs was a real place. It was torn down in the early 90’s. I’m glad you got to go! I never did.
Yes I was there about 3 years ago and too bad I didn’t lose my slippers
That’s cool.
Please like and comment! It really helps others see it!
Good video brotha keep it coming thx
Thanks. I made this 3 years ago. Glad it’s still enjoyable.
Excited about visiting, exploring, and tubing in New Braunfels. Cool vlog, and thanks for sharing! 😎🤘🏼
Glad you enjoyed my trip from 2 years ago. Have fun!
Just what I needed to see!
Glad you enjoyed it! Schlitterbahn vlog soon!
Epic beard brother! Loved your video because my wife and I just retired in New Braunfels 6 months ago, and are planning a 1st time float on the Comal in July. And yes, at 65+ I am looking forward to the tube chute! But I'm a former desert racer on motorcycles, so it should be a cakewalk for me, LOL!
Thanks Fred! Hope you have a great time!
So I'm very scared of the water (and I even have a pool lol) but dude I could see the trepidation in your face before chute number one. I would be scared 💩less, too. Thanks for sharing and the GoPro footage looked awesome at 14:00. Great job!
Thanks for watching! Yeah, it was kind of scary when I flipped and had a hard time coming back up. Thankfully I didn't die!
@@RobbZipp I'm a big guy and I thought I was drowning in a 4' above ground pool about thirty years ago. Everyone was cheering, "look at Dave! He's swimming." No morons, I was drowning, lol
Dang. That’s harsh.
I weigh alot more than you and I haven't ever flipped out. My advise is to bring your own tube with a head rest attached. It makes it much more comfortable for your neck. The second thing is get ping pong paddles and attach cords so they can slip on your wrist. You can use them as personal paddles. It helps when you want to move to the side. I'm an older female with bad knees. I was terrified to get out at the end of the ride but people always seem to help me get out of my tube and up the steps which makes it much nicer.
That’s all great advice! I didn’t know you could bring your own tube! Is there any place there to air them up, or do you have to do that on your own? One thing I really didn’t like about the tubes there were the lack of handles. My friend got griped out by a lifeguard for using the kiddie float with handles and a bottom.
Oops! Sorry. I thought you were commenting on my Schlitterbahn video. Yes, brining my own tube wouldn’t be a bad idea, next time.
That Schlitterbahn ride that drops people, I was one of the test riders before it was open to the public. Got to ride it for free because of it. Good 20 years ago.
Nice! Being a test rider has its advantages!
Looking good Zipp! +1 for Jamie!
Thanks stranger
Oh hey Scott! Thanks for subscribing!
Best Liquid Death Promo ever! Right about 1 minute in.
😂 right on!
Too bad you lost your sunglasses. It was nice seeing Jamie!
Yeah. I should have taken the cheap ones from Six Flags.
Great time! Going in August
I hope we get a lot of rain and the water line is higher!
I like the dudebros.
They were nice
When you get near the end of the first chute, you hold on and lower yourself into the tube.....second chute, BUTT UP!.
It was my first time. This was like 3 years ago! I won’t ride the chutes again.
@@RobbZipp I love the Comal! Hope you have gone again!
@@mdalberg535 I’ve just did it this one time. The chutes are too much for me now.
That chute used to be way mo sketchy. And the second one was nuts back in the early '80s.
Thanks for the video - I moved to Colorado and it's awesome, but I really miss the Texas Hill Country rivers and swimming holes.
I grew up in Spring!
Hey Daniel! I do live in Spring and did this video last summer. It was actually my first time floating and it was a lot of fun! Glad you enjoyed the video!
@@RobbZipp The Comal has always been my favorite, but I also dig the Frio. Guadalupe is too dang cold for my skinny ass, but a dude with more, uh, insulation might enjoy it. Just make sure it's flowing good or you'll be walking almost as much as floating.
What part of Spring? Kuykendahl/Louetta area is my old 'hood.
Off of Aldine Westfield, south of Cypresswood
@@RobbZipp Ha! My family lived in Birnam Wood until I was five, then we moved to Cypresswood. Small world!
LMAO “I died 💀” ❤️❤️❤️
😂 I know. I had to put that.
You should try tubing on the Frio River I found it to be naturally more stunning. Less people and less developed along the shores.
It was my first time tuning anywhere. Maybe I shall! Did you enjoy this video and seeing me almost die?
@@RobbZipp I enjoyed the video. I was wonder what you filmed it with since you submerged the camera at one point to show how clear the water was.
I used my GoPro Hero 9. It’s waterproof!
I went to the Texas Tube and I fell out of the 2nd chute and I almost lose a bottle but I didn’t lose my hat or my sunglasses
I fell out a few times. You should have gone to Landa Falls!
What can you do to not flip out of your tube?
Not sure. Just take it easy and don’t be too heavy, like me.
@@RobbZipp great video.
Thanks so much! I made this 2 years ago!!
Next time, after you get out at the exit, grab a slice at Di's Homemade Pizza, 50 feet to the left of the top of the steps. Some of the best pizza in New Braunfels.

@@sirboss5069 thanks for tip! Not sure I want to go back. I made this video 3 years ago. But I do enjoy New Braunfels. Is that your pizza place, or are you just a fan?
@@RobbZipp Not my place, just a fan.
@@sirboss5069 gotcha. Thanks again😆
