It's such a difference seeing the clothing on a moving person vs the image of the original, it certainly highlights the importance of experimental recreation

This is really interesting and seeing the young woman walking about wearing her Bronze Age fashions is great.

I arrived here via a comment on the Orkney hood that named the egtved skirt as having similar weaving.
And now i'm entranced watching you weave!

I'm doing this with assistance from a weaving friend and we gave up almost IMMEDIATELY on that free-hanging string heddle 😂 We eventually put it on a inkle loom as well because trying it on two stakes on a long board (the closest thing to the 'two stakes pounded into the dirt' method they had back then) was...NOT ideal. You can really feel the general aggravation that fueled innovation in weaving by trying to ape some neolithic weaver's methods. Invention really boils down to 'how can I possibly make this LESS INFURIATING'.

Unpopular opinion, we don't have all of her outfit. It's never looked "complete" to me. I've seen iterations of it through the decades and it's not all there.

Wow, you do nice work! When I watched the Egtved Girl video I had a few questions. Was this a year round garment? Was this designed to be worn with or without an undergarment? With the cold winters I doubt it was the only below the waist garment.

Wonderful to see this creation. This helps us imagine Egtved Pigen's life. I'm thinking that skirt was scratchy.

Pretty! Would I try this on myself? Probably. Would I try to *make* the skirt ... that's another question entirely; I'm not sure I'd have the patience for twisting all those strings.

Recently watched a video about Egtved girl and was fascinated by the story. Now this video popped up, and I'm thinking what was it like back in the day to make clothes. What did their tools look like, what the technology really was like, etc. How much patience and skill it would take. So many questions. If only we could take a peek.

amazing job recreating it, and I really like even it's 3000 year old fashion 😉Elsker videoen med Anni Brøgger hvor hun danser den dans hun så i sin drøm hvor Egtved pigen havde vist hende den
