For years,, God has never answered my prayers. Now, in my 60s, I am trying to refrain from praying because I believe that it's a waist of time, of breath, and of hope.

I’m 55 my wife died horribly from cancer. 3 years ago. I prayed for healing, she prayed to see Jesus. God answered her pray not mine. He couldn’t answer both. I still cringe when people pray for healing, I get a touch angry when someone does get healed, excuse me but where were ….. no peace or joy in thinking that. Still Jesus/ Holy Spirit / Father is my best friend for the past 40 years. The storms are fierce but his friendship is stronger.

@@jahall257 I understand my friend. God likes to test our faith. My dad was angry with God when my mother was lost to a disease she had been battling since the time I could remember. It wasn't fair. But we knew she was in a better place. Amen! The teacher's always silent during the test.

Love Tim Keller. I always assumed he was an NF of some sort, but I can see the INTP when I think about it.
Not crazy about Piper, though. I think his teaching on gender has been quite harmful. I know he has taught some other good things, though. We all have blind spots.

how so on gender issues? I'm not familiar with Tim Keller or Piper but I'm looking for preachers/teachers with common sense & wisdom as they are a rare breed these days.
      thank you in advance

@@JT-cf5ol Im not sure how to answer that in a quick comment. So, sorry if it gets long! Also, Piper does write some really good things and I think it’s mostly women who see his beliefs about gender. I’ve noticed many men never even hear it because it’s not aimed at them.
I don’t know if you’ve heard of the Center For Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, but Piper was one of the originators and helped author a book called “Recovering Biblical Manhood and Womanhood” decades ago. Many books written to conservative women are influenced by those beliefs.
In his heart, he wanted to fight the negative aspects of second wave feminism and get people to have a Biblical worldview. But I believe he reacted to feminism and fell firmly in the ditch on the other side of the road.
He decided men and women have different ontologies- that we were different down to our core. Different kind of beings. And that God designed us that way to fit our roles.
For example, when God says “wives submit to your own husband” he believes that shows we are ontologically designed for those roles. All men were designed to lead and all women to submit to worthy men - regardless of age or competency. He believes in the workforce, it is unnatural for a man to submit to a woman. So women should avoid being in authority, but he gives advice to woman who are accidentally stuck in a place of “authority”. A man asks a woman for directions. If she answers she is his “teacher”. So giving directions or any information is “authority” and women shouldn’t do it too often to men. He says this is uncomfortable to the man and the woman should answer as submissively as she can. He gives an example that it’s just obvious men should lead by picking the movie or restaurant or making the decisions. He has also said the rape culture is because of feminism. If men are not having authority in a good way, they default to having it in a bad way.
He also equivocated with terms. For example, he says leading is influencing
, so a woman needs to severely limit her influence. He says Eve’s sin in the garden was leading Adam. So offering fruit, giving an idea, or giving information is leading and therefore a man’s job. Women weren’t designed for those jobs and things go wrong when they do them too much. It wasn’t that Eve was offering something bad. It was that she was offering anything at all!
Desiring God ( Piper’s platform) shared an article about why Eve sinned. Matthias, the author, built in Piper’s foundation and said Genesis was teaching us God likes to work through male influence while Satan likes to work through female influence.
So women in these circles are taught that men are annoyed at them if they share ideas and that if they have a new idea it’s probably from Satan. Not everyone is consistent in their beliefs, but it does breed insecurity in ladies that is healed by male approval instead of God’s approval.
Add to this his belief that the curse in Genesis 3 was that all woman would want to dominate their husbands ( and domestic abuse is usually in response of this. He compares Cain dominating sin to men dominating women. Just like sin desires Cain but he had to dominate it, in the same way women, like sin, wish to cause their husband’s fall and he is tempted to dominate her. So the obvious advice for an abuse victim is “stop trying to dominate your husband.”
He shares his platform the men who say things like “buy a horse trained and a wife to train” or “ lead your wife with a firm hand and don’t listen to her excuses why she can’t do a thing”.
Sorry so long. I grew up in a church like this and it took me years to relearn to see God’s goodness.
      Keller is awesome.

"Brandie" Ooh yep, I must agree! Much of that is not true at all! Gender is not the only variable that determines an individual's ability.
If a female has more skill and experience than a male in a given situation, is she not allowed to steer and give him guidance? In marriage, if the wife naturally has a dominate and/or assertive personality, she can be herself, as long as she abides by the rule that being the husband is the head of the family, he has the final say in the end of a matter. Otherwise, if I am wrong, an introverted male should not marry an extroverted female. Marriage is made to raise godly children, and allow physical intimacy, thus marriage is unnecessary if neither of those are desired.

It pains me to say that Calvinism is a perversion of scripture that has sadly become one of Satan's greatest achievements. I hope you reconsider who you learn from. God bless ❤

Wow, I find this a stark contradiction to a life lived so far. To be an infj is to be curious, and in a continuous circle of the pursuit of knowledge. Therefore, the conclusion during our current decade arrives at a conclusion that all Supernatural existence has been manufactured by our species. There is no higher power, or power greater than ourselves that is guiding the biosphere of our planet. We are many light years away from other stars, our ancestors through the ancient texts predicted that, during the end times the Stars will fall from the Heavens to the earth. How absurd this concept was, of our place in time and space, from our current perspective.

    • @goteamslugs
      @goteamslugs Рік тому

INFJs aren't always curious about the exact same things. Your claim doesn't hold sensible validation.
And there is plenty of evidence of the supernatural.
