Great video Woody. Excellent job putting together your thoughts and experiences. You crushed the Tandem training. It should be worth mentioning, we MIGHT put together some tandem clinics in the future. I'd love to help advanced pilots take on tandems if it's something they're excited about. Maybe a few times a year.. Just have to get 5-8 pilots together so we can do it in a group :)
Second inflation: "for some reason the tips came up before the center." Wing layout wasn't rosetted. Even a small rosette helps to focus line tension in the center of the wing and makes inflations easier. Tandem PPG could be fun on a tropical island with a beach resort and an endless supply of new passengers.
It was good to see you learn on this day as i was watching from in front of the building. Congratulations on getting your certification. Its not formally available in the UK but I'm sure it will be in the future.
I agree Ron is a great instructor! I am qualified in multiple types of aircraft and I his training was some of the best I have ever had. Highly recommend Lone Star Paramotors in Kyle, TX. Oh, thanks for sharing the experience Woody.
Congrats on the tandem cert! Had no idea it was that labour intensive. Wow! No wonder you're thinking twice, and twice again. LOL I'd love to go up as a passenger (legally blind, no piloting for me).
As someone who knows nothing about actually flying a paramotor, the tandem trike sounds like what you'd want for tandem. I wouldn't expect a 70 year old to be able to run in front of me and not stumble.
I've been waiting for you or Tucker to try going up in a trike especially for the passenger's who might not be able to run! On your mark, get set, go!!
So this is from last month but I'm planning on getting my sport pilot license so I can fly tandem trikes. It's only 3000 as opposed to 1500 just for ultralight training which leaves me unlicensed and unable to fly experimental aircraft. I'd love to meet you if you're ever near Seattle
Cool Woody, Congratulations and thanks for sharing. You and Tucker have planted your seed in many pilots... uh.. I STAND BY MY STATEMENT. Best wishes for Ross.
I was an enthousiastic adventurw motircycle rider for years and always wanted to have someone with me to share my adventures but rode mostly solo but I'm going toswitch to this sport and most likely train to ride tandem to have someone share my expewrience. like my kids and friends.
Does it make much of a difference flying tandem with an experienced pilot vs an inexperienced pilot? Or is the passenger just responsible for running on take off and landing?
Not sure if a trike isnt a better way to tandem, especially if your wanting to take people like your parents who may suffer more from a less than perfect landing. But thats even more $$$$$$$
I was considering getting tandem certified to take up friends and family...however, as you know, under FARS you're only allowed to do tandems for training purposes....not for recreational flying....so I can't keep flying the same people and call it training and get away with it.....sad as it would be fun as heck!!
Well you're not supposed to, but just who's going to check? You don't have to keep a pilot log. Unless you're posting videos, nobody can really check up on whether this is being abused (which it will be). My hope is that there isn't a rash of accidents with tandom flyers. To be honest, if I were going to do that, I'd be using a trike or quad for it. There's no chance of tangling feet on the takeoff or landing and the 'trainee' is likely to be a lot calmer and enjoy the flying more.
I though the regulation was different if you used wheels ( trike or quad ). What did they tell you at your training woody I’m sure they would have known
Congratulations Woody its great ...most of the landings looks kind off ruff ,but u did it and now u can enjoy the ride with other people...thats great :-) im thinking that the trike would be better but i gues more expensive specially in the USA u guys have everything expensive :-( but it i think would be much easyer to handle only by u ,and allso how the older people are going to run and take the ruffer landings...? ok dude hope to fly with u guys one day Vítek / youtube dream big /Czech Republic edition :-)))
so when are we going to get videos of you taking Jackie and Hope into the sky? Hopefully before woodys lab. Also you think colin would be comfortable flying?
I don't get it. 'Tandem certified'. Now, you 'can' fly tandem. I thought it is unregulated. Is this a license like a driver's license where you will be charged for flying without it or is this just a piece of paper that isn't legally required but shows you got the training?
Ya 70 year old parents coming down like that and you taking all of their weight on the landing seems like a bad idea. I know you are doing most of the work but they have to be putting their feet on the ground the last second.
I have a legitimate question I think? I know you probably have heard of flight junkies? And I know he does tandem flight training. Why would you not consider him for training?
Kurt has a reputation for a few things. 1) Selling heavy/outdated equipment 2) Proving very short training leaving you not fully prepared to "leave the nest" 3) Pushing people into a trike and stealing their harness. (This happened to my friend that trained with him) He's just not the right guy. Personally, I find other things concerning too. He lies about his flight hours (30,000?, no way), he's not a captain, and he's been arrested for domestic abuse. I don't love his business model of buying equipment before your first day either. I'd rather learn on school gear to see what you like. I watch your travel videos. I bet you'd love to go down to Costa Rica and train there. They provide all the gear. google "paracosta".
not the case for tandems. Actually the law only allows tandems for flight training purposes, and not for ride alongs. Everyone jumping on the tandem bandwagon recent is in response to a waiver that the FAA granted to allow certified tandem instruction in the US. Bending the rules slightly, but that's what pushes videos on youtube I guess. FAR 103 doesn't allow passengers period.
Pin me Woody
Hmm, why not?
WoodysGamertag Thank you! Always supporting the videos
pin me down, woody
15mins of fame ;)
LMAO! ...but are you sure that’s what he meant?
Welcome to the club, Woody! I'm stoked for you. 😁
How about using a trike Tucker!
Robert Kimbrough That's not legal
Tucker Gott that’s funny that you’re stoked for him. He doesn’t even sound happy that he did it.
Tucker Gott teach me to fly Paramotors man!
BB8 the new star trek guy...
lol, is that what I said?
2:47 lol
BB8 on Star Treck would be cool but i dont think a crossover movie is in the works...
"The new RT-Do T" 😂

Get a quad with tandem. Foot launch looks hard, especially with a non athletic person. I miss the quad I had. Shoulda kept it.
I think the trike or quad for tandems is a smart idea......a tad more costly, but safer and less strenuous I think
"the new RT2T, the new star trek guy" lmao
Thanks for sharing. I have been curious about the certification process. Cheers
Ron Rocks! Trained with him last July. Great person and instructor. Glad you had a great time! Hope you visit Texas soon.
Nice job Woody! Great to meet you down at Aviator!

BB8, new RT2D... Star Trek. Chirst Woody, I can't be sure if you're fucking with us or not.
Even though I will never be a paramotor pilot, I always watch woody's paramotor videos. You can really see how passionate he is.
If you have time to upload more of this stuff I'd definetly watch.
I’m scheduled with Ron March 2019!!! Can’t wait!!! Tandem is on my long term goal list!
I agree Ron is a great instructor! I am qualified in multiple types of aircraft and I his training was some of the best I have ever had. Highly recommend Lone Star Paramotors in Kyle, TX. Oh, thanks for sharing the experience Woody.
Congrats, great work Woody! If you want to do some dual tandems, let me know :) (I've been tandem certified since 2009)
I appreciate the future Woody edits
BB-8 the new star trek guy...lol
Woody and names
"The new RT-Do T" 😂
Tandem trike sounds REALLY cool!
Congrats on the tandem cert! Had no idea it was that labour intensive. Wow! No wonder you're thinking twice, and twice again. LOL I'd love to go up as a passenger (legally blind, no piloting for me).
Congrats Woody! That's so awesome!
Woody - Please crowd fund the tandem trike. Count me in for 5 bucks...LOL.

Great editing, great energy. Nice job woody.
Congrats Woody.
Awesome stuff man! If you ever decide to do tandem I’d be interested in doing a discovery flight. Keep up the great vids
I'm about 50 tandem flights in. Was checked off by Planet PPG same guys who checked off Eric at Aviator PPG. It's stressful.
Watchout! There is a puddle right there! Only one on the field and I found it. Congrats on the new rating
Awesome dude! Congrats!!
Love the videos wood keep them coming
its really cool seeing you do the things and expanding the skill. Thanks for the upload :)
Nice video, thanks for the info. Who approves the tandem cert for training? USPPA certified pilot? FAA directly?
Hey woody nice one.. if i had a tandem licence.. why not do something with it.. it fun.. i would go flying with you woody any time.. go woody!!
what win you was flyin in tandem?
I love this lmao the co pilot needs a weapon of some type maybe some type of automatic owl kicker
i started out flying with a 2-seater trike. i have never flown foot launch. can you get tandem certified without doing it footlaunch?
5:54 Insert joke.
rpatto92 😂 thought the same thing
Getting off for an excited kid
You guys are dumb. Haha
So we can do tandems on Trikes and quads now?

Next PKA event: Tandems with Woody?
Intro hit me right in the nostalgia
Future woody
You da coolest woody
Congratz woody! Hope u figure out where u want to take your tandem skills, maybe be a tandem instructor yourself since there arnt a whole lot of them?
Classic Woody, flying in the air and shit. Stay safe Matt!
Shout out to Dana! Stellar guy ;-)
the gif of kyle making fun of woody is playing in my head this whole vid
I must be weird. I never had the ambition to take anyone up tandem. I don't desire to be an instructor either.
When you said 'tandem paramotor' I was not picturing a giant baby harness.
Awesome!
*BECOMING A BOOMER
Are tandem trikes a different certification? Those seem like they would be more passenger friendly. I bet even Jackie would consider flying in that.
There is more than one tandem certification. Mine covers both.
Great video!
How much does it cost entirely, for beginner lessons to be able to do it on your own?
you definetly want to buy this gear Woody, just imagine taking colin, hope, kyle, murka, your brother, etc any time that youre with them
Does it make much of a difference flying tandem with an experienced pilot vs an inexperienced pilot? Or is the passenger just responsible for running on take off and landing?
It helps a lot to have a pilot as your passenger. They are less likely to sit and they shuffle sideways under the wing when you need it.
Not sure if a trike isnt a better way to tandem, especially if your wanting to take people like your parents who may suffer more from a less than perfect landing. But thats even more $$$$$$$
Damn woody looking fit
Why were all those trucks on the runway?
You better upload a Hurricane-flying video! C'mon! Get in the air! No balls!
Seriously, I want to see you doing a SAT through the eye of a hurricane!
I was considering getting tandem certified to take up friends and family...however, as you know, under FARS you're only allowed to do tandems for training purposes....not for recreational flying....so I can't keep flying the same people and call it training and get away with it.....sad as it would be fun as heck!!

Old school intro 😂

Woody check out electric paramotor on UA-cam and plz build a crazy elaborate one!!

You must favor that shirt for day one training.
Woody could you take me please?
here we go 10 in a row
Awwww, you look so cute together woody. Jackie will be jealous
Next PKA in the air please
I'd go up with you man! Congrats hopefully I can do this someday too(:

Nice!
OH DAMN THE OLD INTRO
I want to see jackie on the paramotor!!!!!
I live about a hour from fredonia Kansas and I see a sky flyer sometimes I cant help but think you know him lol he has a trick tho
New patreon level?
Hi woody
Are you using a new wing or am I crazy?
This is a tandem wing that we borrow for training. I think it was 41 meters squared. It was a big one.
Ya 70 year old parents coming down like that and you taking all of their weight on the landing seems like a bad idea. I know you are doing most of the work but they have to be putting their feet on the ground the last second.
This is epic :)
Hey I am eduart and I was interested to know like how much did it cost
I have a legitimate question I think? I know you probably have heard of flight junkies? And I know he does tandem flight training. Why would you not consider him for training?

I watch your travel videos. I bet you'd love to go down to Costa Rica and train there. They provide all the gear. google "paracosta".
I think you should have second thoughts about learning from someone who teaches under a fake name to conceal his criminal background.
Woody you cant be getting off by excited kids. Yoire better than this lol!
one a month l!
you keep saying certified. There are no certifications to fly a PPG. At all.
